1  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Discussion - Low Quality Topics on: October 01, 2017, 10:47:41 PM
Nothing will change until changes are made to how signature campaigns are allowed to operate here but theymos doesn't seem interested in that so it's just going to get worse with every day. The majority of the content and posts on the forum is embarrassing and as long as there are crapcoin campaigns that pop up by the dozens every month who will pay for any content regardless of quality this will only get exploited. The majority of people who sign up here these days only do so because they've heard you can earn money here so you just get dozens of illiterate kids from developing nations signing up who can barely speak or comprehend English hence why you have such crappy threads asking the most basic of stuff. Just look at all the threads asking how activity works that pop up daily and they only want to know so they can earn more.

The level of account farming that is going on to exploit crapcoin campaigns is also ridiculous. There are certain individuals who have or are farming literally hundreds of accounts by shitposting or copying and pasting others responses (some with bots and some manually) and nothing is ever done about it. My solution is to ban the campaigns and accounts of anyone who is clearly doing nothing to control spam and also remove signatures from ranks/activity. Everyone who joins the forum can only have a basic signature and if you want a bigger Senior or Hero sized one you have to donate to the forum to get one. This will instantly stop account farming and people having dozens to hundreds of accounts and is pretty much the only way to stop the abuse here. I used to say it's not going to be long before the only people posting here are third world kids trying to earn money but that's pretty much what this forum is now. There are solutions to it but it theymos doesn't care about it nothing can be done and it'll only get worse day after day.

Agreed - seems to just be a site for marketing shit coins and scamming third world countries with bounty campaigns and ICO's that will never fulfill their promises.

Kind of sad - but I guess money talks and it'd be the easiest way to make it.

Ah well, just food for thought, hopefully people will start to get sick of it.
2  Other / Meta / Bitcoin Discussion - Low Quality Topics on: September 26, 2017, 05:09:06 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1649348.0

Low value topics that do not encourage constructive discussion do not belong in Bitcoin Discussion. Threads not directly about news or developments within the Bitcoin ecosystem such as the following all now belong in Off Topic

So what happened to this post - are these forums not regulated?

The following titles are all currently on the front page,

Are you addicted to Cryptos?
Good time to buy BTC
Being Unemployed Drives People to go to Bitcoin
Bitcoin Can Now Buy a Mansion in Moscow Suburbs
Is bribing via bitcoin a good idea?

The garbage being spread across some of these forums is pretty terrible - not to mention the quantity of duplicate posts and the sheer amount of clickbait titles.

It's hard to differentiate these forums to buzzfeed sometimes.

3  Economy / Economics / Re: crypto-assets market grew 11.4x in 1 year, 10-1000x to go? on: September 26, 2017, 05:01:41 AM
If FIAT currencies are also replaced (which, let's face it, eventually they will be), there will be over 1000x growth.

What logical argument do you have for this occurring?

FIAT currency plays a role that bitcoin will never play, and that's stability. Taxes, policy making, funding and growth initiatives for the economy are all dictated and handled by FIAT currencies, yeah cool you like a bit more of your paycheck but the infrastructure you use daily doesn't build itself.

Instead of this notion that's spread here that FIAT is an abomination that needs to be stamped out, as well as government, do some thinking and think of the practicality and research that's gone into these coins and the billions of people that use them daily.

Crypto-currency is great, I wouldn't be sitting here on these forums if I didn't enjoy blockchain use cases. But to think because it has currency in it's name it's here to replace the USD etc is a joke.

Spreading topics like this and making posts with absolutely 0  logical reasoning only helps create a bubble because eventually people will clue on and realize the people pushing this agenda were morons.

4  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin will control the world economy!!!!! is it true? on: September 24, 2017, 11:43:55 PM
Maybe  if they truly wants bitcoin to rule the currencies all over the world, which means bitcoin will be the only currency that we will use and all the fiat will be removed. Do you want this to make it happen?  For me i dont want to.
Even if we wish this to happen, it is not possible at all. All states are not going to accept bitcoins as their national currency. They are definitely going to take action against this if bitcoins will be imposed on them as the only currency they can use. Fiat is irreplaceable, people are comfortable with them.

People aren't comfortable with them, people rely on them.

It's great to have faith in investments but people need to understand, countries don't build themselves and you can finance infrastructure and an economy on a global currency.

Money is minted for reasons, and we can't simply allocate coins to each country because there is no central allocation method for Bitcoin.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Which country would be the first to eliminate fiat and convert to crypto fully? on: September 24, 2017, 11:18:55 PM
The first country to eliminate fiat and convert to crypto fully would be one which has a failed economic system such as Venezuela, where people are looking for and need help desperately, Bitcoin and crypto could be what they need. Just imagine if they turn to crypto and in a few decades everyone there became rich? It is definitely possible!

Alright, so you expect a country with a failing economic conditions to fully adopt a cryptocurrency, let me breakdown how ludicrous that would be for you.

Firstly, countries with failing economic conditions are in these positions for reasons which are NOT caused by FIAT currency. Reasons for these deteriorating economic conditions are mostly corruption, poor trade balances, lack of education and infrastructure and poor policy implementation.

To implement a crypto based economy, and abolish a FIAT currency, you would need to do the following. COVER all national debt, reinvest all national savings, whilst maintaining the dollar value so the working class is not impacted. Restructure all stabilization policy so hyper-inflation/hyper-deflation does not occur, restructure all taxes so the government can operate, find a way to tax transactions, find a way to implement a currency that can transact in seconds not hours.

The above is a VERY SMALL portion of the steps that would be needed. In reality, billions of dollars and years of work would be required, all of which a failing economy does not have.

At the same time, the idea that FIAT currency is going to be left behind is anything but logical. THERE IS NO BENEFIT, HOLDING A COIN DOES NOT MAKE YOU RICH. If everyone in whatever poor country you think is going to adopt this coin purchased Bitcoin two weeks prior, and the news of China came out, you've just essentially ruined the livelihoods of every paycheck to paycheck family in that time as they've lost almost every bit of savings they had as the value dropped.

Prices of goods lag behind that of the currency, don't try and argue prices value will drop at the speed of the coin.

I love Bitcoin Talk but these daily threads and the drones supporting them really trash this economics section of the forums.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is everybody dumping Bitcoin? on: September 21, 2017, 05:26:32 AM
Poor news in China making people worry, JP Morgan slamming BTC also.

Price is influenced by news, keep an eye on that and you'll see why it goes down.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of SiaCoin on: September 21, 2017, 05:21:13 AM
Risky investment.

Lots of big players in this market, Amazon being the main concern.

Does the project have potential - yes. Can the project keep up with demand and server hosting requirements for a huge audience - no.

Be alright to keep an eye on.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pre-ICO bonuses on: September 21, 2017, 05:16:53 AM
Hi

In most of ICOs, investors can get some bonuses, if they invest sooner. In my opinion these bonuses not only don't cause the ICO to be successful, but also cause the ICO to fail. In some ICOs there is up to 100% bonus.

If I see that there are some people have gotten 100% bonus in pre-ICO, I don't invest in that ICO, Because they will dump their coins after crowdsale and cause the price to fall.
Do you agree with me? What are your opinions?

Disagree, capital needs to be sourced, and newer projects don't attract investors.

New projects need a way to stand out, and bonuses help with that.

Good deals don't necessarily mean it will fail, it builds  FOMO effect for investors when they see people crowding in and they're missing out.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Market cap on: September 21, 2017, 05:07:11 AM
Outstanding coins * value

Is coinmarketcaps reliable - with larger coins yes - with smaller coins no
10  Economy / Economics / Re: Maybe governments can stop bitcoin after all on: September 21, 2017, 04:04:56 AM
They can't remove Bitcoin, but they can remove exchanges.

Sure you can transfer your money to another currency and use that to purchase Bitcoin, but it'll be a hassle a lot casual users won't want to go through.

Not to mention, it then regulates businesses tax wise and forces them to act illegally and forge documents, which 95% of business will not do just for Bitcoin.

If governments don't want Bitcoin to succeed they can make sure it wont, at least not to a scale where it becomes a global norm.
11  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Secrets? on: September 21, 2017, 03:47:30 AM
There's one tip I'd give to anyone investing in Cryptocurrency.

Focus on the news.

Read as many articles as you can, look at the sentiment behind a coin. News articles, conferences and quotes from big investors are everything for a coins value. It's a speculative market, especially when trading in alt coins.

Best of luck.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: is this the bear market? or is this just fantasy? on: September 21, 2017, 01:07:46 AM
These dumps keeps coming day after day, btc holding "OK" so far, but is this still all about china? or are we now in the long bear market since 5000 usd?

edit: also people keep talking about this being the best time to buy when prices are low, but in a free market, the concept of "best time" and "low" are relative.

anyone putting absolute bottom below 2200?

Unlikely that the market is shifting towards a bearish trend.

Bitcoin has yet to develop fully and we'll definitely see some interesting trends leading into 2018. Most larger investment firms are starting to accept Bitcoin as a noteworthy investment and we'll be sure to see a lot of trading volume increasing over the next year.

Regulatory bodies however are starting to come out to play so moving fiat into Bitcoin is starting to become much harder, it'll be interesting to see the impact of this trend. As with China, this may only be short term.

News articles are still playing a huge impact on the price, sentiment seems to be good, likely will see further good news which will attract newer investment.

Problems may arise from the growth of the ICO boom, eventually they will need to cash out, lots of Ether and BTC amongst these companies waiting to be cashed out - could be a problem next year.

In conclusion, climate is still that of an underdeveloped market, lots of factors at play but doubt these are bearish trends.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Would a global disaster increase or decrease the Bitcoin value ? on: September 21, 2017, 01:02:19 AM
A truly global disaster will truly damage the value of every currency and investment.

Investments don't keep people safe when their lives are at risk, people won't sit there and watch the value of their BTC, they'd rather sell it and make sure they're safe themselves.

Thankfully the chances of a truly global disaster are very unlikely.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Antshares/ NEO [NEO] on: September 21, 2017, 12:11:37 AM
I believe that NEO come back to 40 soon

Depending on the support it gets from the Chinese government it may be possible.

China's the wildwest for business - hopefully NEO gets some support in it. Looking at how they've been doing so far, I'm sure they will.

15  Other / Off-topic / Learning Japanese on: September 21, 2017, 12:06:54 AM
Hi All,

I've recently developed some free time and would like to start learning Japanese.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to make a start with some good comprehensive lessons/guides.

These can be videos and or websites, I'm easy, let me know your experience with them.

Thanks!
16  Economy / Economics / Re: Are cryptocurrencies better than regular currency on: September 20, 2017, 11:53:25 PM
Honestly I believe bitcoin is better since one you don't use your credit card so you don't loose you needed cash but instead your cash that you could easily earn back from mining. Plus, it's open to all ages unlike credit cards.

Yes, bitcoin provides more freedom to people of all ages. Bitcoin also provides more security and privacy to the people on the fly.

In what way does Bitcoin provide freedom?

Sure it's not as heavily regulated, but transaction times on a global scale would be astronomical, and impractical.

Not to mention it's,

Not supported in many locations
Requires internet to make transactions
Unregulated
Divisible - so on a global scale - you'd be making transactions in multiple decimals

I love Bitcoin, don't get me wrong, but having a coin that's value is based purely on speculation, and with a user-base that hardly understand the inner workings of it does not give me hope that this will replace a global currency.

Regulation is good when livelihoods rely upon it. Imagine with your salary, if JP Morgan released a news article trashing the USD you lost 30% of the value of it, then further to that, you lost another 10% because China decided they weren't going to accept USD.

Where does that leave you for the month if you've essentially lost half the value of your money, not to mention, the people paying you also lose their money as they get less business.

Everyone here wants to be part of a revolution against the banks and I agree, it's nice to have some financial freedom, but getting rid of established systems for a half complete movement is ludicrous.

17  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: September 20, 2017, 06:10:27 AM
Bitcoin will never take over fiat currency, at least not in our lifetime.

Hundreds of years of regulation, practices, and geographical locations have come to give fiat currencies value. Bitcoin is tiny in terms of volume, market cap and use cases.

Most of the worlds population hasn't even considered buying a bitcoin.

Sure I get you made some money on it but be real, it's not what you're buying your groceries with each night.

18  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I am Planning to make my own Exchange on: September 20, 2017, 06:05:57 AM
I would be very careful regarding regulation, proper legal advice would definitely be recommended.

Most governments are cracking down on unregulated exchanges and the penalties could be very severe depending on how little steps you have taken to ensure yours is legitimate.

Best of luck.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: red pulse ICO worth it? on: September 20, 2017, 05:37:08 AM
The problem with this ico is that it says on the website : The Red Pulse RPX token sale is not open to United States, Chinese, or Singapore nationals. why is that? lol
here is a link to the website to look for yourselves : https://coin.red-pulse.com/

You'll be hard pressed to find an ICO that'd allow these countries to invest these days.

It's a move to appease regulators in these countries who are coming down on ICO's daily.

Don't be deterred by this fact when looking at ICO's.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: list of known scams? on: September 20, 2017, 05:31:08 AM
Does any site compile a list of known scam ICOs? I want to hold these people accountable for running away with people's money.

ICO alert flags most suspicious ICO's, you can find a list of these here.

Regarding finding these people accountable, good luck, it won't work. Time would be better spent educating the community on basic research and understanding of investments.

Good luck on your hunt crypto batman!
