1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how much do you love bitcoins? on: Today at 06:35:33 AM
Bitcoin is illegal in my country where I live.

Quote
It's not that Bitcoin is illegal in my country so I can't invest.

What is it really? Is bitcoin legal or illegal in your country?

Because of bitcoin's decentralized nature, it has become almost impossible for the government to identify who are or who aren't using bitcoin. But I said almost because they can still somehow trace back the owner of an address and follow the strings.

Especially if you are using a centralized exchange, the chances of the government finding you has heightened. But if bitcoin is illegal in your country then it is most likely that centralized exchanges are banned as well. On the other hand, some people can still use bitcoin because they are very careful and discrete when making transactions.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Benefits of participating in discussions in the forum. on: Today at 03:03:42 AM
Greetings everyone.
I really don't know if this is the right place to post this, but please pardon me if it's not.
This information will really be of great help to my follow newbies that's why I decided to share it.
Hi, mate and welcome to the forum. What you have shared (though just taken from another post) are very helpful for beginners like you which we have a board for.

Here you can find the board for beginners and maybe you could post topics like this in this board and anything similar in the future: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0

If you are just going to basically bump a post, I'd suggest you also add some points from yourself to give it more of a unique spin and not just totally copy pasted from the source
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Messed up with my Notcoin on: Today at 02:27:14 AM
Every airdrop is usually seen as a child’s play until when proven otherwise and have a strong backing to show that they don’t engage in such acts. Your instinct about it is normal as any other person in this your position will do.
Those people most likely just got lucky as they took a big risk and that risk paid off but note that not everything is worth the risk. You are the one to decide whether a project should be looked at or not and you should only depend on your own instincts and research because there is no sure way to check if a project will be good or not early on.
Quote
Notcoin is now being held by investors that are not looking for short term possibilities of notcoin but what they stand to get in several years to come after their investment now.
It seems to be doing very well now as we keep seeing an increase of players. If they explore more options to add into their project then I can see a potential growth.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: Don't live above your affordability on: Today at 01:50:20 AM
I just want to bring in different perspective, if you always be on the economical side then you must try atleast the experience of start hotel or exclusive suite once that will give you the need for you to earn more to live that sophisticated lifestyle than being in the middle class all the time.
I agree that we should not settle for what we have now especially if we know that we can still do better however I don't think it is necessary to go to expensive hotels and spend money on things not needed to realize what is missing in your life. Some people do not even have the money to spare on hotels or whatnot. But that alone should give them the motivation to work harder and finally afford what they couldn't before.
5  Other / Off-topic / Re: How did you find this website? on: June 13, 2024, 04:43:49 PM
Someone spammed a link to this forum in a Telegram channel chat, and I was curious to see what it was about, so I followed it and ended up here.
 Wink
you're lucky that the link being spammed on telegram of all places is a link to this forum. There are many links being spammed nowadays sometimes even directly sent to your messages. These links more often than not are phishing links so be careful clicking on links out there.

Not all links will lead you to this gem of a website! Wink
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you prefer getting a loan for a startup or getting an investor? on: June 13, 2024, 02:14:18 PM
I'll choose to get an investor because I don't yet have experience running a profitable business with positive cash flow. By finding an investor, I must prepare a pitch deck, which forces me to continuously improve and verify my ideas. I also learn how to convince investors. This is a very good experience. So, besides getting a cash injection , I can learn more about the potential of my ideas because I need to convince investors by answering their concerns.
That is actually quite smart but how hard could it be to try and learn things by yourself first before trying to bring in other people to meddle with your own business? Consultants are okay but once you start bringing people in that could alter the direction of your business, it might become too complicated.

There is no shame in being a beginner and learning how things work first and maybe even making a few mistakes. Seems better than letting the decisions be ran by other people who might even do some work before your back.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Navigating the crypto world for extra income on: June 13, 2024, 01:37:38 PM
Airdrop, bounties, review etc are the way for no skill people to earn crypto.

If you have a skill like graphic design, illustration, 3D maker, animation, programming, virtual assistant etc, you don't have to offer your skill to get paid in crypto because you can get paid in fiat.

The main problem is the skill, not the currency you get paid.
These days computer technicians and engineers get paid a lot but I reckon that you’ll get paid even more if you work at the crypto scene. You can do mining which can be a very competitive market but still gives off good returns.
You can also develop a new project or let other projects come to you for consultation. I’m pretty sure you can earn a handsome amount of money from programming with how many projects are coming out every day here in crypto.

Take advantage of what’t hot nowadays and that’s crypto.

How much do you love bitcoins? But think about it, what kind of situation do you think can push you into stopping to hold bitcoins and invest more in it? please share your episode.
Love is a big word.  Grin

Don’t love money too much even if it brings you so much joy. Bitcoin has changed a lot of lives and has helped a lot of people but at the end of the day it is still money and we shouldn’t love it too much.
Quote
Has your love for Bitcoin surpassed your love for country? If your government threatens arrest for anyone found to still be involved in bitcoins, are you willing to go to jail even if it is just for a day?
What is the point of using bitcoin if I won’t get too use it for the rest of my life as I am in jail? Bitcoin is great but I suggest we all follow the law.
Quote
Will you be willing to relocate from your country to another region if the environment becomes unsafe for people like you who have invested in bitcoins?
If I had the money to relocate, I would but I don’t and that’s why I am investing in bitcoin. Don’t lose yourself too much in bitcoin and crypto. Don’t let it consume and control your whole being. It is our future but not our everything.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Secure Web3 Email the Future of Online Communication? on: June 13, 2024, 04:09:32 AM
These claims sound promising, but can secure Web3 email truly become a mainstream alternative?
Since it is a new concept and is considered a learning curve, I don't think we shoud be thinking about mainstream use of this project already. The concept might sound promising but at the end the experience of the user is the real determination whether it will be preferred by people or not.
Quote
And most importantly, considering the current landscape, how likely is widespread adoption of this project and its token (EMT) in the long term?
Not much as the performance of this token will obviously depend on the performance of the project itself. If there are not much people using the project, which is very likely, no one will also invest in the token.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to write a book on Bitcoin topic and I need your advice and help!!! on: June 13, 2024, 03:28:54 AM
11) Blockchain technology was invented by an unknown great person or group called "Satoshi Nakamoto".

12) The first product of blockchain technology was the invention of crypto currency (Bitcoin) which was inflationless and its first exchange.
Are these 12 points the entire book or just an introduction?

I know there has been already a book in progress also posted here in the forum (though i can't find it) about the history of bitcoin so I don't think you should focus on that as much anymore. Anyway it's quite confusing what you really want to focus in on your book. You shouldn't dive into other topics such as inflation in so much detail if you are just going to introduce bitcoin through it. Be brief and explain more about bitcoin if your book really is about bitcoin.
11  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Just For Laugh] What kind of advice is this? 😂 🤣 🤣 on: June 13, 2024, 02:55:26 AM
Lol. We caan't deny that reddit sometimes is funny despite a lot of foolish people around. I really don't understand op who was asking for some advice. What else can one do in his position but to pay the debt that he had consciously given himself?

Thank you to the comment who humbled op for thinking he was actually going to get some validation that running from his lenders is a good thing and that he should continue doing so while doing more things to hide himself from everyone.

No one can hide forever especially from someone who is very keen on finding you.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you bought AI tokens? on: June 13, 2024, 02:29:38 AM
Omni Network (OMNI)、Numerai (NMR)、SSV Network (SSV),they seem pretty good.
All these tokens are built on the ethereum blockchain which already proves to be a good sign, in my opinion.

Moreover, all these tokens have scientists and experts on the forefront of their development team. This makes me believe that these tokens have real world case and therefore can have longevity because of its utility.  Would it be the most profitable, right now? It's difficult to say as I do not see a lot of people talking about AI tokens specifically.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is China going to shift from Gold to crypto as ICBC considers ETH a digital oil? on: June 13, 2024, 02:01:14 AM
when they allowed Hong Kong to have BTC and ETH ETF,
Hong Kong has complete autonomy so they weren't allowed by China however China do have some say in the decision making of Hong Kong even if it isn't that definitive.
Quote
there were already speculations the country may soon be reversing its crypto ban.

with such news, is it a sign?
A bank saying this despite the ban knowing how strict China is with their rules, we might get something similar to crypto. They might release a token in eth blockchain, who knows?
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the benefits of accepting Bitcoin as a method of payment. on: June 12, 2024, 10:22:00 PM
I love great customer service and I would choose a Fiat only business over a business where Bitcoin is accepted if their customer service is bad.
A lot of businesses use bitcoin to basically allure and lead customers into their business. Some people specifically seek out bitcoin payment only and it can be beneficial if a business started accepting bitcoin.

But of course just like any businesses, a business that has bad quality of goods and services will not be saved by bitcoin alone.

Personally I’d only use bitcoin for one big purchases rather than daily expense because of the high transaction fees.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: USA lose oil but will replace with btc and crypto on: June 12, 2024, 03:43:18 PM
What is the connection between oil and crypto?

Oil is used for multiple purposes in different industries. While crypto is a valuable asset I don't think there are dire consequences if the US were to stop using bitcoin compared to if they stopped outsourcing oil from other countries,

Even if US themselves is a producer of oil, they are also one of the biggest consumers of oil in the world so just relying on their own oil might not be ideal for them.
Quote
The United States is both the largest producer of oil, mining approximately 11.5 million barrels per day, and also its largest consumer of oil at more than 17 million gallons per day
(https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/oil-consumption-by-country)

I don't understand how crypto plays in this.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do we think alt season will be? on: June 12, 2024, 03:18:11 PM
I have seen some say there will not be an alt season this bull run, some say it wont be till next year and some say it usually comes around 3 months after the Bitcoin halving which would put it around August.
I think there will be an altcoin season but what you have to check is the movement of bitcoin. Historically, altcoins' prices surge when bitcoin falls even if it is in a bull run. My theory is that after bitcoin breaks the $73k usd and then it dips that will be the time where we will see altcoins surge.

I am hoping we only have a few more months to wait now as my patience is being tested, how is everyone else feeling?
You are going to need more patience, mate. it's going to be a long wait still
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exploring Key Properties and Predicting Price Movements of Cryptocurrency Market on: June 12, 2024, 11:19:26 AM
Exploring Key Properties and Predicting Price Movements of Cryptocurrency Market Using Social Network Analysis
https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10521656

An academic paper about crypto will legitimize crypto in the academic setting and will give way for more official studies to be made in the future. For those who do not want to read through the entire thing, these are the points of the paper:

They aim to analyze relationships or correlations among cryptocurrencies using social network analysis

Quote

Social network analysis (SNA) is a methodology for the in-depth study of relationships and interactions between individuals, groups, or organizations within a social system. Its main goal is to map and analyze complex patterns of connections, nodes, and interactions, providing valuable insights into the structure and dynamics of social networks

Through their methodology, they have found that there is indeed a correlation between the prices of one cryptocurrency to another. Meaning a rise of one currency will likely influence the price of the other.

Quote

As centrality measures aim to identify cryptocurrencies capable of influencing the prices of other cryptocurrencies in the market, we believe this influence can be a useful predictor of short-term cryptocurrency prices, which is of interest to investors looking for price increases or decreases in cryptocurrency markets.

Most investors probably already know this but a proper research with the right resources, methodology and a formal format allows for a more cohesive information to be distributed among the research community and by extension the community.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will Bitcoin look like in the future? on: June 12, 2024, 10:37:54 AM
We know where it was in 2009, where it is now (2024), but where is it going?
For people who say that its price will skyrocket, we already know that. The question would be until when it rise? Until what price? Because personally, I think at some point we will reach a time where bitcoin will no longer increase in price but at the same time it wouldn't decrease because it can still be used as a currency, and I think at the end bitcoin will be used as a payment method more than as an investment.
Quote
Will it make everyone free? Will it be regulated and become government controlled?
All normal and crazy theories please  Grin
There is only so much the government can do about bitcoin. They can control whether it's legal or illegal to use bitcoin but they can't do anything to prevent a transaction from being made.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: The choice of investment is dependent on your region of residency. on: June 11, 2024, 11:33:38 PM
In addition, I admit that my neighbourhood is my main target market, I used to sell various foods, clothes and cosmetics.
Your target market should really be where you are located.

If you are doing business this reduces the cost that you have to exert in delivering or distributing your products or services. Not to mention the inconvenience it causes. If for example you are selling food and you’ll have to deliver somewhere far away, it may go bad. So the target market should start where you are.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is bitcoin future roles in Finance? on: June 11, 2024, 07:55:04 AM
An asset that is highly volatile, has high transaction fees, and has not been accepted as legal tender by many countries, how can it play an important role in the financial system?
One thing I can think of is how many people are adapting to cryptocurrency. Even though the transaction fees are high, there are still people who decide to use it. The fact that there are options now to pay either in cash, bank or cryptocurrencies is already proof that crypto has changed the financial system.
Quote
I'm not spreading Fud or pessimism, but we should be realistic about what's going on. What you said may happen in the future and everything takes time but not now.
We can still be optimistic about bitcoin and criticize what can be done to improve the system.
