1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Help me to understand an aspect of crowdsales. on: July 14, 2017, 09:59:06 PM
So every crowdsale that I have witnessed in the last few months use ETH or BTC as an investment tool. My curiosity lies in the ever-changing value of both respective coins. If you are to invest 10 ETH right now and the price falls 100$ over the next 6 months, that has to mean goodbye to the startup? Are these ICO's basing their entire company on the fact that ETH and BTC rise in the future? That seems like a sizeable risk to take and invest so much time money and energy into just to watch them fall; or another coin to take their spot. Is there a part of every startup dedicated to constantly trading the investment coin to stay on top of the one with the highest value? Or am I understanding this all wrong.

This helps me grasp what is new and coming to market. Of course they have to be offered first, and usually a ways away from mining. You can take the information though and look at the whitepages. Keep in mind that not all tokens will be Proof of Work.

Have you purchase a vga dummy chord for your hdmi slot? It allows you to run TeamViewer at a muhc better resolution without as much disruption.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Msi After Burner , cant overlock AMD on: July 14, 2017, 05:50:44 PM
i tried to set up primary on PCI but so far no result,

Wattman is working but im not use to it,

What will be the right setting for my   saphire rx 480 nitro at the moment i have stock setting i got  24 per cards, id like to overclock and undervolt, i know how to do it in afterburner but wattman is confusing for me.

I would highly discourage undervolting, if anything just lower the power usage. This is how you use WattMan

Right click your desktop and go to AMD Raedon Settings

When is opens go to gaming, should be on the lower left hand corner.

Click on Global Settings

You should see your cards appear in tabs.

Click on the card you want to change.

Scroll down the first section and on the left it should say Frequency.

Click that and change it to Dynamic.

You should see seven stages, stage 7 is the one you want to change.

I am not familiar with stock settings for your card, but I would bring the frequency up to 1100mhz and click apply.

Your card should increase in power and you should see the hashrates reflect this. Let it ride for an hour or so and keep an eye on the temp changes, if it is stable you can alter it from there.

Of course you can mess with everything else in that Wattman panel, but again for stability reasons, without quite a bit of computer knowledge, undervolting can be very tricky.

Good luck to you, hope this helps.

You might be mining to or looking at the wrong pool (ethermine vs ethpool).

Thats it! Looked right at the ethpool wedsite and my miner was showing there, thanks a million. Do you know the difference between each pool, or is it just members in the pool? Thanks again.

Do you have mode 1 in your code? Make sure to remove it to dual mine.

That is a good tip! Thank you I did not think to check that.

Hey I am using Windows 10 and Claymore's Miner 9.7. I was mining only Ethereum just fine and was reporting to ethermine.org pool correctly. Once I set up to dual mine SIA, I no longer see a report on my ethermine address for ETH, but SIA is doing just fine. Anyone experiencing this? Thanks

My guess is your bat file has the wrong ETH address in it, check your address

That is what I originally thought, but I tried again, maybe have an extra space in the wrong place. At work now, but it makes me wonder where my mining efforts are going to haha

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH!! on: July 13, 2017, 01:34:44 PM
Eth is going down & down!
I am so afraid
Can it grow up in this month?
any possibility?

Why such fear? The market cap is too high for it to disappear completely. If you look at the BTC chart you can see a similar progression as you see with ETH, and we all know what BTC did this year. The idea behind coins is to hold them and hold them strong. Be patient and do not think of this as a fast ROI.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ICO to invest this summer ? on: July 13, 2017, 12:37:41 PM
Probably is better to skip this summer investments, because too much things are happening right now and this situation cannot stay this way. ICO's are too successful in collecting funds but lately we had some downsides in prices and if something happen to ETH ( which is highly possibly ) they all will be afflicted, so better enjoy sun this summer.

I wholeheartedly agree! Do not feel like you are missing out because the market as it stands cannot sustain, and the wrinkles will be ironed out in the next 6 months imo. That being said I would invest in mining hardware if you are itching to get into this. Everything is much to volatile right now to accurately invest without day trading.

When I first got into ETH I found this website to be incredibly helpful.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: zotac gtx 1070 amp edition vs msi gtx1070 gaming x on: July 13, 2017, 11:52:03 AM
Zotac has a incredible engineer base, and MSI is in my experience not a fun company to deal with for any issues you may have with your card. Just one man's opinion.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining vs Buying Altcoins, which option is better? on: July 13, 2017, 11:41:09 AM
I think it really depends on the stage of development the respective coin is at. Take ETH for instance. If you got into mining even at the beginning of 2017, you would be sitting pretty, but the difficulty of mining gets more and more difficult with the increase of users. Right now if you were to get into ETH, disregarding any plans they have to make the difficulty easier, then you would be investing quite a bit of money (500+) for basic hardware, and a very little profit margin. As others have mentioned the power costs are something to take into account as well.

Where it is more beneficial to mine is to get into the new coins that are in Proof of Work (PoW). For example, the Golem project is in the very early stages and we are close to a beta which would allow us to 'rent' our pc hardware similar to the mining structure of ETH. The ability to 'rent' or mine has unknown capabilities right now, but you can pretty much guarantee that it will get more difficult as it develops.

Essentially if you want to mine and have hardware, you should look into new coin projects and roll the dice to what you think will be the next BTC or ETH. Investing fiat currency into coins is the best option imo when the difficulty of mining gets to the point that electricity costs more than the value you are mining at the current price. Then again, a lot of miners like myself mine for the long term value. So you must ask yourself if you are looking for quick ROI or a long term ROI.

Hope this helps.
