i just made another successful domestic withdrawl to my Japanese bank account.  Took only a day or 2 as usual.

(i know this doesn't count, but just thought i'd let you guys know)

The blueseed is a planned project to build the ship in international waters and have silicon valley entrepreneurs based out to sea where they don't need a visa.  Still looks like it's in the planning stages, but they're having meetings and there is a lot of interest in the idea.

Canada is actively seeking to entice entrepreneurs into the country with offers of permanent residency.


aaaand of course, they said that bitcoin is gonna be $1k per coin next week, so buy now!  (no, actually, there was absolutely no mention of bitcoin or any virtual currency at all)

Something i've been thinking about for a while, is that I live in Japan (i'm an aussie expat), and i have an account with mt gox which i can send and receive from using local transfers. 

especially with the recent issues with dwolla, and now the even bigger issue of gox not releasing US funds at all, maybe I could do a little side business helping people who really need to get their USD in or out of gox quickly???

i'm fairly new to this forum and crypto in general, so i certainly wouldn't want to ask anyone to trust me with significant amounts of their BTC or USD, but if i could start off small, and build some trust, is this something that would benefit people, and which i could make some pocket money out of (i'd ask for some commission for my effort, maybe 5%?)

i have a PP acnt which i could use for these transactions.  (Obviously it's against their rules, so it would have to be hush hush).

right now, i'm not offering to start this, but is it possible?  are there others doing the same thing?

i'm not entirely sure how well the 'cpu only' mining will work, and if people will find a loophole to get their GPU/asic's onto it or whatever,,,but if it holds up, it should be pretty cool.
i would ASSUME that once it gets out there more, a 51% attack would be almost impossible as well.
also it really does seem such a waste that people are running such energy intensive hardware to mine the other coins, especially when human energy production and the side-effects of it are destabilizing the world.  That was always my big concern about bitcoin, and yacoin comes the closest so far to allieving that. 



interesting too, that the original developer left the project.  not sure what the deal was about that, but it's good to see that the coin had enough potential to find its way anyway.

once getting money from banks into bitcoin and back from bitcoin to banks becomes easy, the difference in exchange rates will disappear. 

we've only just reached the stage where thinking about banks is even necessary.  keep watching....

hopefully soon there will be places everywhere to get bitcoins.  it's just going to take time to get the infastructure together.  for the moment, just use mtgox, they're the safest.  (until the Japanese government gets manhandled by the banking sector and forces it to close down... and don't think this is just a vague possibility - you can't even send paypal personal payments in Japan, because personal payments have been outlawed by japanese banks pressure on the reigning 'jimintou' right wing government.)
