Hi Guys,
first off - thanks Fluffypony for sorting things out.
so i started simplewallet and it gets stuck on block 202650 - so i did not enter my password in wallet window.
should i enter my password to see if my coins are there?
so do i download blockchain.bin into monero directory and then start simplewallet again?
please i am not that technical.

Hi Guys, just after some help please. i downloaded hyp wallet on new machine last night, it was synching fine so i sent some HYP from polo to the new address, then fell asleep. When i woke up my machine had turned itself off and when i reboot and try and run hyperstake-qt it gives me an error saying "error loading blkindex.dat" and the application closes. does anyone have any ideas what may be wrong? i know i was bit stupid to send my coins before it had fully synched, will there be any way to recover them? thanks in advance for any assistance offered. Hi and welcome! I never experienced this. I'd say: delete all the content of your %Appdata%HyperStake folder (assuming you're on Windows, ~/.HyperStake if you are on Mac or Linux) EXCEPT the wallet and maybe .conf/.config). Then restart and wait for resync (and cancel the autosleep feature on your machine at least until sync is complete). I guess this was some kind of data corruption at OS level (power out, maybe?), not something related to HYP itself. Thanks David - i deleted everything apart from wallet.dat, and now the wallet runs fine and is synching again

The Monero XMR Scam Uncovered My last thought might be a bit brave, but could rpietila's money be the actual target of this scam scheme?
ok so we need a bit of a collection to try and help Rpietila out then guys. He must be such a sucker to fall for such a dirty trick as that this is the funniest thread currently on btctalk - it wins the award for the most desperate FUD attempts of 2014 - congratulations. the only problem i am afraid is all winnings are to be paid in bytecoin as if you haven't got enough weighing down your bags

I am mining XCN. I think the coin is probably temporary, definitely over-priced, but the tech is good.
I am starting to look at VIA because I hear it will be a treechain testbed, and because it intends to serve as a 2.0 platform with PoW.

To buy, or not to buy: that is the question.
Obviously we will go up from here. There was quite some selling going but the price simply desn't want to go lower. So up is the way we go! Not too sure why you have changed your mind from Bear to Bull within hours just because we have seen a small rebound. To me this looks like another Bull trap before going lower... agreed. i think the volume of support will be so large that no one can doubt the bottom is in..at the moment it is not. down to $540 we must go.

Smart money is getting out. Just like i just did.
OK, I couldn't resist this one. He calls himself "smart money", yet he's a hero member around since April 08, 2013, 03:13:50 PM, and he had 2 BTC. Yeeaaaah, that's some reaaall SMART MONEY folks. what i do not understand is that if he is that convinced that this is the final demise of BTC - then why wouldnt he get over to finex and short it all the way to $0? i see next support at $539..im convinced we will test it..if that fails then its $400's - just use support/resistance to ride it out..if you cannot do that then close down your charts and come back in a few months...honeybadger aint going nowhere.

I'm just a newbie, but I've been watching this forum for bit and have been watching the emotional swings on an hourly basis and just wanted to put something out there. Now people may laugh at technical analysis as it applies to bitcoin, but I think it works when there is little mega news like there has been the past month or so. If you look at Finex (since they are one of the big volume drivers lately) from June 2nd to July 1st and draw the top resistance line (674 and 654), and then use June 13 to the 24th to draw your bottom channel line (573 and 567) you will se the short term down trend we are on. Draw a horizontal line on June 24th and that will show you the 566 resistance line. If 566 holds we are following a descending triangle and it will bounce between the top resistance slope sline and the horizontal line at 566. If it breaks 566 then I would expect support to rally around 543. Now while I'm currently in a short from 630, I am long on bitcoin in general. Watch for the chart to break one or both of these patterns over the next few days or weeks, hopefully it will break one of the resistance lines and we can go long again.
Wow...good post..i agree with your analysis. This downtrend is purely technical..it is the final action after a period of lengthy consolidation rather than the start of a new bear market..it has nothing to do with bitcoin fundamentals..a break down to $540 would be expected now to test support.i do not believe the bottom is in yet as we have not had enough volume of support. If you are hodling - then i would advise taking a break from the charts - nothing has changed in the long term for bitcoin and its bullish. if you do want to put yourself thru the stress of constant price watching - then learn some TA to help give you a clearer picture of the market.

The support over 39 on polo is now quite unbelievable - if those walls are to be believed - 361 btc to 39. Maybe we will not have a repeat of last month where the price crashed at the middle of the month..could we have established a new floor in the mid 4's

Hi there, im just picking up a 2nd hand laptop which i intend to install the XMR cli wallet. Apart from making sure the OS is 64bit are there any other specs that i will need. For instance will 4gb ram be sufficient? does it need a fast processor, how much hard disk space will i need to download the blockchain, as i was hoping to get a cheap one off ebay.
Also are the instructions on monerotalk.org the best ones to follow regarding installing the cli?
Thanks for any help given.

i regret to say i have sold my minerals after the live betting on the 15th. I believed in Minerals at the start, but was very disappointed with the live betting test - just having 2 min address for a win or lose was not good enough, it needed more functionality - i was hoping it would be more like a betting exchange that matched the bets, there was 1000min on one side of the book and a few hundred min on the other side of the book. So the book was completely unbalanced - and as there was no information given regarding Crayons opponents it made skilled, judged betting using odds to determine your level of risk completely impossible. So my opinion changed from it being a well developed betting platform. The devs may have great experience in SC2 but they have inadequate experience in designing and implementing a professional betting site. i do not believe the current downtrend is manipulation in any part, just early adopters losing faith and moving onto coins with better growth potential.
i will honestly say tho' that MIN has one of the best communities around, and you should be proud of yourselves for having a FUD free thread. good luck to you all, i hope i am proved wrong and the live betting is taken to the next level of implementation..only time will tell.

When you look at last months price action, it seems so similar to this months....a correction on 18th June followed by another leg up on the 19th June. Could we see another repeat in the next couple of days?

Thus far we have received well under 1 BTC in donations, a trivial amount. That means that all of our time and energy and effort is completely self-funded.
I think Risto should delve into his huge BTC fortune - seeing as he was one of the first Hero Members to publically back Monero, i find it worrying that he has not made a donation.
