Hi there, I am trying to built the 'base' of my rig and i run into some questions that i cant find an answer. I am planning to built a total of 6 x 1070s mining rig. I will try to start with 3 and then add more if i find a good price for the cards. I am trying to select a psu that will hande 3 gpus and i am bit confused about how to select it. I have come across to a reasonable priced seasonic psu: https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/products/90703312/seasonic-prime-focus-modular-80-plus-gold.aspDoes that psu hase enough pcie slots to power 3 gpus? My understanding is that this psu has 2x PCIe 8pin and 6x PCIe 6pin so i can connect up to 2 1070s gpus (i think they require 8 pins). Is that correct? Cant i connect a 3rd gpu somehow? Moreover the risers will be connected to the 6 pins so it has enough slots? Finally is my base rig ok for future upgrades (6 cards) or compatibilty with future nvidia or amd cards? If you have enough molex/sata connectors, you can use a molex to 8pin adapter/converter to each rail.
Make sure to use only one rail per GPU and a good quality adapter.
However four (4) 185W GPU is a bit an overload for a 750W PSU.
You can go for 3 RX580 for each PSU.
I did order a sata 6 pin to PCIE dual 6+6/2 pin cable (my cards take both 6 and 8 pin connectors to run) Once I had the cable plugged in to the SATA port on the PSU and tried to power on the mining rig, that power supply and anything I had connected to it would turn on for 1/2 a second and then immediately shut off one sata cable power is not enough to run，only can startup，not mining！！ |

you can but don't do it.
Most PCIe cables are AWG16 (better ones are AWG14) and they're rated at 13 amps. 13A * 12V = 156W. That's the maximum power that's safe to draw using those cables. If you use 1 cable for 2 cards you're asking for trouble, those cables might catch fire.
not like this. PEIe cables with 8Pin was 3x12v, so 13*12*3=450w. Are you sure AWG16 can run with 13A? I check some data , AWG16 max is about 6A. so one PEIe with 8pin can only drive 6*12*3=216w. so this is why 1080ti must 8+6pin or 8+8pin |

flypool 0.06X zec/day
ahashpool 0.005x btc/day
zpool 0.003x
I guess the Best is a secret.....

I was considering jumping into one of those pools with my 7x1080ti rig. I see so many posts referring to them. Your comment makes me weary though. Are folks using it because its easy? Or is it profitable? What miners can you use while mining on these switching pools? Does the HSR miner work or are you stuck with the software they offer? Thanks for your insight. I am going to seek some more info through other threads. I used software they offer and work in automode.（All-in-one Auto-switching script (for Beginners)） |
