Hey Mining Community,
Wanted to know your thoughts on Building a rig considering Free electricity.
Instead of keeping money in Banks, I want to put it in Mining so that I'd be getting some money monthly instead of money being in bank and paying me like 7% yearly interest.
A balanced approach of Nvidia and AMD would be best?
Say I have the budget ~$20k I can build a rigs something like this in my country 12 AMD RX 570 Cards + 12 AMD RX 580 Cards + 12 RTX 2060 Cards + 12 RTX 2070.
Your insights are appreciated.

Yeah gamer can mine instead and learn how mining can be profitable. By the way if you have 0.7$ electricity price, you always be profitable even in the bear market like couple months ago. if you have good gpu like vegas Dont be to hard on them"These noobs", crypto price driving up like crazy becauze of them, we should thanks fo their helps  If you have 70 cent per kwhr power you will never be profitable. Vega or not espcially in a bear market. Perhaps you meant 7 cents per kwhr in that case the ROI on a used Vega56 for 250$USD is 641 days at present. (rough estimate mining monero as per WTM) Unless the price of BTC goes up thats a shitty roi whichever way you look at it. As long as ppl know what a hobby is versus an actual income generator then they'll be fine. Most noobs want to get into this thinking its a get rich quick scheme. Yeah no its not. 2 years roi is anything but quick. |

Heres what the flight sheet looks like.
Just to confirm the username is my nicehash BTC wallet. The RIG ID and Password are from HIVE OS when I generated the worker.
The wallet address in under the BEAM wallet 1 that I just got assigned from the beam wallet.
Just wondering if yours looks the same as the screenshot below.
First at all it's topic `bout Gminer and not HiveOS Second ... you have complicated everything ... As I see you want setup Nicehash-Beam with gminer. Just 3 steps to do it (Hive has preset for Nicehash for it) 1. Create wallet for coin Nicehash-Beam (start typing and you will see it) 2) Create flight sheet (select coin - Nicehash-Beam, wallet - select which you created on step 1), pool - select nicehash and pool with near location for you, select Gminer as miner 3) Apply created Flight Sheet to worker(s) steps 2 and 3 give the following error: The given data is invalid. The server field is required. Edit: Nevermind I figured it out. Here are some further steps. 2.5) set miner to Gminer. Click config miner and enter the wallet%.worker%, server address, port etc. 4) reboot the miner after the flight sheet has been applied (better to remove all previous ones or create a new worker and apply the FS there). |

It is pretty easy to install. Just go here and download the latest image: https://hiveos.farm/installThen download and use HDD Raw Copy Tool to burn the image to USB or SSD from a windows computer. Then you boot the rig from that image and it will ask you for a RidID and password, which you will be assigned when you create you first worker/rig after establishing an account by going here: https://the.hiveos.farm/register/Once that is done, you need to create a wallet, which is the BEAM address you want to mine to. Next you create a flightsheet, where you specify the coin (BEAN), the wallet (the BEAM address you just created above), and the miner (GMiner). When setting up the miner, you need to pick 150_5 for the algorithm, %WAL%.%WORKER_NAME% for the template, and there pool url, port and password, and you're done. Thanks! Ive gotten to the flightsheets now (miner isnt mining for some reason - says " no miner screens found. Starting "Claymore" Heres what the flight sheet looks like. I would recommend HIVE as opposed to Win 7. I had a 7x EVGA 1060 3GB in win 7 and could not get it stable. Switched to HIVE and it has been rock solid with core +100, mem +500 and power at 70%.
I dusted off 2 other 1060 3GB based rigs and brought them online as well on BEAM, also on HIVE. These 2 rigs both have 8 GPUs in them. All 3 rigs are very stable.

It's already built-in in AM, it adds automatically -> --api 4028
Just to be clear, my mining rig is running HIVEOS. I'm monitoring my rigs from AM running on the Windows machine. My config that launches gminer on a HIVE controlled rig looks as follows: === /hive/miners/gminer/1.31/gminer.conf =================================================

Note how --api 4028 is missing. If I go into the gminer config and add the extra parameter --api 4028, gminer fails to launch. When I look in the log, it tells me --api cannot be specified more than once. On the AM side of things, I have tried adding an external miner both with and without the port being specified. Either way, AM cannot see the rig. So it is almost as if HIVE adds an api port on its own, but I don't know what port it is. Other miners use standard ports, like Claymore is 3333 I think it was. Back when I was mining ETH, specifying that port when setting the external miner in AM worked like a charm. Whats the max number of cards you can run per rig on HiveOS. Im trying to get an 8 card 1060 rig going and didnt realize it wont mine on Win 10. Would you suggest I try on win 7 or Hive OS. Thanks |

Did the ETH DAG limit get big enough that 3GB cards don't work anymore?
One of my rigs with 3GB Nvidia 1060's stopped working today.
Did it? Mine is still going. Make sure you’re on the latest claymore. Weird. I'm getting cuda error 11, can not write buffer for dag. Im using claymore v12 Same. Rig down. And cant apply overclock settings or anything. |

It will be a viable mining choice if Eth doesn't move to Pow which many think it will go to it soon. The power efficiency is a big factor especially at these times where price of 1 Bitcoin is 3500-3800 dollars. I think many miners will see this as a good mining card even if Eth moves to Pow, there are great other algorithms which Nvidia cards do mine well.
Not sure how 350 USD at 160watt TDP is a good deal. Nvidia is clearly charging you for the Ray tracing on this card which of course isnt needed when mining. With 350 USD I would rather buy 2 x 1060's (save 30$) and get 48 Mh/s at 220w or settle for 1 x 1070 for 220 USD (save $130) and keep the 31 Mh/s at 120w. And the Polaris cards are even better at this therefore there is no point in buying this card. Not sure how it performs in X16r but im sure its not that different that it'll warrant buying this over the Pascals. For gamers its a great deal especially if you have 1080p and want to experience RT - not bad at 1440p either as it will net you 40 fps. |

ASIC noob here.
Anyone know how to overclock on a "per hash board" basis? This was we can get a bit more out of these
I tried ssh and editing the config file. Seems only a single option is there for the clocks.
This is what ive been wondering about too. One of my boards isn't good at overclocking while the other 2 are pretty decent. If anyone is able to set the frequency for each board/chain separately please point me to the correct place. Would be great if we could set each one separately. |

Updated the OP from the Newegg invoice purchased dates  (All Cards (except the 580's) will come with the digital copies of invoices as well for warranty) the 580's are running custom Bios @ 32mh/s, and can be left or flashed to stock before shipping (hashing Lyra2z @3-3.5mh/s as of now) Hi CjM, Im in Winnipeg, Canada.
