1  Economy / Economics / Re: If Greece defaults on: May 30, 2015, 02:53:00 PM

Oh, what will the Spanish and Italian people think about Greece's free haircut?

The Greek problem would be over by now if Spain and Italy are almost as bad as Greece. Bitcoins will only work when it is as easy to use as Debit Cards in even mom and pop stores. Just remember even when Bitcoin is no longer adding more bitcoins you can have inflation and deflation. Being on the gold standard was none to cause deflation and sink economies. The best thing bitcoin could do is take the game out of governments hands of gaming the system to gain a short term advantage that costs them more at a later date.   Always remember the value of something is what the masses think the value is. Gold prices go up and down.

When my computer goes to sleep after idle time the clock stops and I think the internet connection goes to idle. Which can be a good security feature.  If I am just idle on this site but still using the computer this clock keeps running.

Does this have to be the active tab? I left this open while doing other things for over an hour, came back to refresh, and the "total time logged in" didn't change at all.

It looks like you have to be active here. I needed to do some reading on another site and my time had not really changed.

I had read some other sections on the Forum and would like to comment but I figure if someone is not willing to meet the Newbie conditions they are not going to stick with the Forum long term in many cases.

Do you need both 5 postings and 4 hours online continuously?

4 hours of actively logged in total. I came back after 8 hours idle to this: "Total time logged in: 35 minutes." What trash.

I can't remember which site I saw it on but the CEO was interested in Bitcoins. Here is a link from a Google search.

The masses run hot and cold. Bitcoins will act just like gold. Up for years then down for years. It was below $200 in the mid 70s now it is above $1450 but was several hundred dollars higher at the start of the year.  You have already seen one spike in Bitcoins just a few weeks ago. If it had stayed at that level for a few months and then dropped by 50% a lot of people that think it is so cool would be saying it is junk. The one thing I remember from public school is the Tulip Bulb Bubble. Everybody thought it was cool until the day it was not.
I am not putting Bitcoin down I am just saying when something is hot it goes up in price, when it not it drops in price. Merchants may have a problem if the price is volatile or rises too fast. The time delay between buying and selling could take all their profit just like the dollar in the currency market.  Only time will tell with Bitcoins. In some ways they are just like Apple stock it was the richest company in the world until the big boys took their profits. Who knows the Federal Government may come close to a balanced budget in a few years.
I agree that people should live within their means. Some debt can be good like buying a house to live in but not to flip. Or a car loan for 2 or 3 years but most credit card debt is bad if you are just buying stuff. If you are just buying stuff than you need to pay in cash or use your credit card like cash and pay it off at the end of the month.

Everything I buy online.

http://www.bitspend.net
I get a big red error message in Chrome with a warning when I click that

Just tried the link in Chrome and did not have any problems.   I also use WOT and it stayed green so people have not been reporting any problems dealing with the site.

It sound like your computer has a problem with the site. It is a https secure site. Good luck finding the problem. Hope it is a minor one or disappears on a second try.
