I see that we seem to have quite some competition around my initial price of 2.49 BTC/share.
So for the remaining time I will go down to:

New starting price: 2.45 BTC

everything else remains unchanged.

7  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinSpinner on: May 07, 2013, 07:41:30 PM
Hi everyone,

I've just seen that on FDroid since 01.05.13 there is a new version of BitcoinSpinner 0.8.2b. At the moment I'm using 0.7.3b as this was the latest version on FDroid. FDroid tells me that version 0.8.2b is signed with another key than 0.7.3b.
Is this to be expected?

I have mot compiled or signed the FDriod distribution and cannot vouche for it. However I have been in contact with a developer at FDroid on some build related questions, and I have no reason to believe that their distribution is evil.

If the FDriod distribution is signed with a different key than their previous version you can only upgrade by uninstalling and reinstalling. Keep in mind that you MUST make a backup before uninstalling (You should always do that anyway)

The distribution found here and on the Google market place are the officially signed ones using the same key since the initial release and allow you to seamlessly upgrade. Those I can vouche for.

Thx for the quick info!

@TAiS46

The only information about who is behind bitcoin-24.com, here:
https://bitcoin-24.com/imprint

is far from satisfying.

Your address:
69 Great Hampton St
Birmingham
B18 6EW
Great Britain

is very dubious. If one googles after it, many many reports show up about "companies" that scam people. All those companies are "located" at this address.

This would be the information that would make you exchange more trustwothy:
https://mtgox.com/about-us

Can you please comment on that?

Cheers

How much you would be asking from XFX 5970 BE with faulty fan?

The fan is just making noise or it doesn't keep the card stable at all?

Hi fankih,

the fan needs to be replaced. I will send the card in to get warranty replacement, will let you know if it is available for sale again - most probably I will get the money instead.

Hi, didn't have time to fulfill your request this weekend. As I'm working abroad through the week I will only be able next weekend to check it hopefully.
Any news on fan/voltage control of the XFX 5970 BE with a fan to replace ?

Hi,
I didn't get time to test it, I give up. But thanks anyway for your interest. I am going to send the card back to the shop to demand warranty.

Cheers

If you post a picture of the Club3D 5970 with a notecard with your username and "bitcointalk.org" on it, I'll consider buying it.

Hi Gladamas,

thanks for your interest. As you can see in OP I already promised to post pictures and didnt get time to do it, sry for that...I'm not at home now (where the cards are). I really try to get the pictures posted till the end of the week.

Cheers

No problem. How much would shipping be to the U.S.?

Danke.

Shipping with DHL to the US including tracking and insurance is 16.9 €. As we are trading in Bitcoin it will be (Including packaging): 1.6 BTC

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Well know private torrent tracker TORRENTLEECH.ORG now accepts bitcoin on: October 23, 2012, 10:17:43 PM
Thats awesom BTC is becoming more mainstream.  I want to buy some porn with it, just because of the concept, and I never pay for porn.

On another not, I think the torrent protocol got too mainstream and is a target by the entertainment industries.  I hope someone comes up with a improved protocol, rather then private trackers.  (Demoniod got shut down)

Have a look here: www.tribler.org - fully decentralized, so no trackers to shut down.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why ASIC's Should Not Be The Future Of Crypto Currencies on: October 23, 2012, 09:58:27 PM
ASIC's are just going to speed up the process of centralizing the money, and making the poor poorer and the rich richer to an even greater extent than things are already.

Imho ASICs will help us secure Bitcoin from being sabotaged by governments and thus help us take away the control over money printing from the rich. Which in fact will enable the poor to get richer.

hi gyverlb,

I have to check that. But according to my experience with the card you can do pretty much everything, so there are no factory locks whatsoever. It's going to be the second half of the week until I can answer your question.

cheers
OK will wait, some additional info/questions.

Fan control is obvious to check.

For voltage control there are 2 ways I can think of: check the power consumption at 0.951V and 0.95V, if there's a noticeable jump, the card doesn't fake its ability to run at 0.95V (drivers will happily take voltage values they can't handle). Another way is to read what cgminer advertises as the valid range when you try to change the voltage. If 0.95V is the range's bottom value it should be supported (at least it then works properly on all cards I tried).

It seems the fan on this model is the same than all other 5970/5870 reference fans (with the difference that its cable is longer to reach the connector). Can you confirm this?

If the voltage and fan control is OK and the fan can be replaced by a reference fan, I'll offer 190€ in BTC shipped to France (currently this is around 21BTC based on 24h MtGox average). This is just a bit more than I just paid for a reference 5970 shipped. The model is worth more than a reference model, but I'll have to replace the fan (which means making a reference fan power cable longer, replacing the thermal grease and depending on their condition the thermal pads too).

Hi, didn't have time to fulfill your request this weekend. As I'm working abroad through the week I will only be able next weekend to check it hopefully.
20  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 4 x 5870, 5 x 5970 on: October 14, 2012, 07:46:16 PM
Does the last XFX 5970 BE Limited Edition (the one with the noisy fan to replace) give full control of fan speeds and allow undervolting to 0.95V with cgminer on Linux?

hi gyverlb,
