1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BITGESELL - Store of value (Burn rate is 90% of tx fees) #realstoreofvalue on: July 04, 2021, 07:59:13 PM
Whoever is in control of Twitter page, for god's sake, please update the info on Bitgesell page. This has been asked a few times here and on discord too... please.
Would be nice too if there would be more activity on Twitter, even more so on Reddit. Contest rewards can be posted on Twitter/Reddit accounts, for example.
Active accounts will attract new users checking out BGL on social platforms and offer different platforms for a wider audience. With the marketing campaign going on, I think now it's the time to start being more active on social platforms. Love you <3

This is true. Bitgesell has an somewhat active and moderated Telegram group with more than 550 followers. Twitter can reach much more people, so the account should be up to date. For example, you could post the updates and activities (traction) from page one of this thread there.

I already bought a few thousand, i will buy more as soon as i see some good progress with the development and marketing of the project. I will buy more and more as much as possible.  I believe in your success.

Same for me. Bought several ten thousand BGL coins and sent them to my personal wallet. I believe in the project and hope for some good progress and more people investing in the future.

We have a few banners up on https://tokensfund.io/

Check it out! More Marketing campaign soon.

The banner still says halving is coming next week. But it already happened on March 28th, 2021 if I read correctly. The banner needs an update ;-)

Hello, can someone make a case of why the project could get traction and the price do x50 ?

This is how I see the whole project (and yes, I already invested some serious money because I truly believe in that great community project Bitgesell and hope it has a bright future):
Bitgesell is some kind of "digital gold", meaning it is designed to securely store value in the blockchain like Bitcoin.
But unlike Bitcoin, Bitgesell has its halvings of mining rewards yearly, not only all 4 years. This means that the inflation (mining block rewards) will decrease much faster over time than it is the case for Bitcoin.
Additionally there is the burn rate of 90% of all transaction fees, which will decrease the supply available over time. You can see here how many coins are already burned:
https://bgl.bitaps.com/
...and with every block new coins will be burned.

Together with the fact that the maximum amount of all Bitgesell (BGL) coins is only 21.000.000 (minus the burned coins of course), it should decrease the supply tremendously over the years.

But there is a lot of work to do to increase the demand of Bitgesell and get traction, e.g.:
- list the coin on more (and larger) exchanges with more volume
- make it more popular => everyone can help here. Spread the word. The more people know about Bitgesell, the more potential new users can be found.
- A whitepaper and timeline should be created by the team together with the community to make it clear to everyone what the goals for the future are.

Bitgesell has not only the potential of x50 but much more. Of course it will probably never reach a market capitalization like Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash but once it gets a little bit more popular it can easily make a x1000 from the current low market cap (only $248,835 at the time I write this). Even $248,835,000 market cap is not much for a great coin like Bitgesell. Today it would be something like rank 140 on Coinmarketcap after a x1000 (and with growing crypto markets in the future $248,835,000 means even a much lower rank). Nothing impossible. Let's do it: Coin price of $0,025 today => $25 in a few years :-)

Thanks for answering, the price is indeed low, it does not mean it will go up ;-)

My computer did not accept to execute the Official wallet and node software.

Is there a faucet or give away I can participate in ?

You mean the Windows 10 smart screen that comes up when you try to start the install.exe of the official wallet program? I had the same "blue screen". There is a small button on the left side, where you can install the program at you own risk. The issue here is that Windows does not know the program. The same does not happen if you install the official Bitcoin wallet or Electrum wallet. I am not a programmer but it seems that Windows does not know the signature of the .exe and therefore warns the user. I installed it despite the smart screen warning and the wallet runs properly.
But for the future there should be a way of installing the app in Windows 10 without any warning screens. It will scare a lot of users away.

There is no fauced I know of, but when you run the official wallet around the clock and set it up as a node, you can participate in the node contest:

Since BGL is traded on the Hotbit exchange, I wanted to warn you about this.
Be careful when using the Hotbit exchange. I've had two problems in the last few days. For the first time, Matic was not credited to my balance, now I can't withdraw TRX. The exchange support responds, but I lose my time and money to support conversation. I do not have such problems when I use other exchanges. Has anyone had similar problems with this exchange recently?

edit... My issue with the TRX withdrawal was resolved, but it take 2 hours for me.

First, thanks for the warning. Its good to read that your issue has been resolved. I never used Hotbit but had a similar issue on DigiFinex with LTC transfer. I usually buy Litecoins on Litebit.eu to transfer them instantly to Digifinex at a low transaction fee, just to sell them there for USDT, which I then use to buy BGL. The third time I transferred LTC from Litebit.eu to Digifinex they blocked my incoming transaction. The transaction had dozends of confirmations in the Litecoin block explorer, so no problem on Litebits side. It was even visible in my Digifinex account but I could not sell the coins and it took me two working days to solve the issue. Thank god they have a good chat support, not like Yobit where the support never answers.

Has anyone tried joining BGL mining pools? If so, any feedback?

Joining a pool is easy but I haven't found a good, working and up to date keccak algorithm mining tool for Nvidia GPUs yet to start mining Bitgesell (BGL). If anyone knows a good tool, please share :-)
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best altcoins to hold during a bear market? on: June 13, 2021, 07:44:38 AM
During bear market (before sideways market starts) you are best to hold only stable coins like USDT and wait for the bear market to end. When a sidewards market begins you can start to buy back your coins and tokens fast at a low price.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What features should a good altcoin project have? on: June 13, 2021, 07:32:20 AM
When starting an investment we should evaluate the altcoin project very well. Investigate if it have use cases, what the community is like, the rewards system and what initiatives it is developing. Which altcoin project in your opinion do we have to get involved with to make a profit y why?

There is really absolutely no need for useless things like a white paper, a good developer team, a great community, a functioning wallet, many exchange listings and so on.

All a good altcoin investment needs is a famous billionaire like Mr. Musk, that shills the coin on Twitter. When the media reports about his tweets (and also mentions the coin/token/whatever), the price rises to the moon or far beyond that. All you need is just a glass sphere (maybe a wheel of fortune will do the same) that tells you the next coin he will buy and shill afterwards, so that you can buy it early on at a cheap price. Then sell it after media reports, lean back and wait for his next tweets, which are sending the coin back down to the ground after Mr. Billionaire sold his share of the coins to the hyped average Joe, that is damned to lose tons of is spare money.

That's all you have to do.

[/sarcasm off]

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which crypto and platform do you invest in in June??? on: June 04, 2021, 08:01:39 PM
I've invested a lot in Bitgesell (BGL) recently for the following resons:
- young, growing community project (official thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5238559.0)
- influenced by the ideas of Silvio Gesell's idea of "Freigeld"
- deflationary (90% of transaction fees will get burned and as a Bitcoin fork there will never be more than the 21.000.000 coins available)
- still very cheap (around $0.02 per Bitgesell)
- Code is widely based on bitcoin code, so it is stable and reliable.
- Halving is every year (bitcoin halving is every 4 years), so hopefully BGL sould faster gain value than Bitcoin in its first years.

If you ever wanted to be a Bitcoin whale: forget it, its to late for BTC with almost $40.000 per coin but with something around $0.02 per Bitgesell you can easily be a whale in that nice coin. and who knows, maybe some day it will be the next x1000 coin. :-)

P.S.: Of course the coin is mineable and if you run a node, you take place in a weekly node contest and can win hundereds of BGL (https://bglcontest.bitaps.com/nodes)

Things they have to work on:
- List BGL on larger coin exchanges with more volume
- Promote it, so the currency can rise in the future

Is there any news about additional exchange listing we cannot trade on Hotbit because deposit and withdrawal here are disabled, the price on Hotbit is attractive compared to the other two exchange, we need at least one more exchange to replace Hotbit, for me, Digifinex is the only exchange worth trading I do not trust Crex24 because of the bad reports coming from my friends.
Even now, you can use the Hotbit exchange for deposits and withdrawals. I agree with you that the coin needs at least one more crypto exchange at a level higher than those on which we can trade today, I mean DigiFinex, Hotbit and Crex.

This! Digifinex is ok for the moment. You can trade there without KYC (no identification needed) and the support there is very helpful. However, the 60 BGL withdrawal fee sucks and trading volume for BGL is low. Another crypto exchange with higher volume would be great and would help making Bitgesell (BGL) more famous, which would surely thrive the price long term.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Next 10x coin? on: March 07, 2018, 07:00:27 AM
HGT (Hello Gold). Market cap is very low and if gold price rises (which will be the case once the world economy cools down), HGT will highly profit as it is somehow backed by real gold. It's always good to have some gold backed tokens in your portfolio but I wouldn't put all my money into it. It's also smart to buy a privat coin like XVG (Verge). They have a strong community and active development. Private coins could be the big winners in 2018. No guarantee of course as no one here has a crystal ball.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much can you make day trading? on: March 07, 2018, 06:56:05 AM
I think there might be days where you will either lose a lot of money or just stay in the trade in the hope for the price to rise the other day. On other days you will make profit. The question is if you will make profit or loss in the long run. In crypto world you have very few fundamentals (in the contrary to the stock market) and its always a bit like playing Lotto. Currencies which are very popular today may be worthless tomorrow and of course the other way around.
Oh, and don't forget the costs (fees for transactions and transfering money) which will be deducted from your profits. In the end it might be far more profitable to buy and hold for several years.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zcash vs Pivx vs Monero vs Bulwark vs Dash vs Verge vs Zcoin > Best Privacy Coin on: March 05, 2018, 06:59:51 AM
I am a long term hodler of Verge (XVG) and the team is working steadily to imrpove the coin. Also, they have a strong community and I thing there is nothing wrong hodling it. Monero is already to expensive (market cap is too high). Let's see what Bulwark will bring.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [REDD] Reddcoin worth buying? on: March 05, 2018, 06:53:20 AM
I've just bought a big bag of these guys.

74 sats right now.Good luck to all hodlers.

Good luck to you pal. McAfee already pumped that coin and everyone knows that McAfee recently endorsed worthless coins just like Verge and Burst.

Verge (VXG) is not worthless. Its quite the contrary, they are planing the future and are steadily working on the coin:
https://travis-ci.org/vergecurrency/VERGE

Verge is working very well already but they plan more features for the future:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1365894.msg31461450#msg31461450

Dunno much about Burst.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What will the winners look like in the next 5 years? on: February 25, 2018, 11:01:18 AM
I think privacy coins will be big in the next couple years. With the U.S. Government changing the tax laws and other countries around the world trying to crack down on crypto, a way to hide what you're doing with them will help tremendously.

Yes, I agree. Privacy coins like Verge (XVG) will be more important in the future, and not only for illegal use. Some of them have also a very fat transaction speed and low transaction fees. I really think that the best of them will have a much higher market cap then today in a few years.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As a beginner is it too late ? on: February 25, 2018, 10:58:08 AM
I think it's not too late. Price was retracing recently and so this might be a good time to buy before price starts to rise again in future. Don't miss the train if you want to participate from the furtune.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is that Massive Correction all over now ? on: February 24, 2018, 05:26:45 PM
I think that the correction will continue till end of March. Then, from April on it should stop and trend will change. At least this is what happend the last few years with cryptos and history seems to repeat. So this could be now the right time to invet before cryptos start to rise again.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin = $1 Million by 2020 on: February 24, 2018, 05:22:16 PM
Currently more and more governments start to try to regulate crypto currencies and some banks try to forbid payments for crytos purchases. In this anti-crypto environment I don't see Bitcoin by $1.000.000 in 2020. Maybe later but all this FUD and reglementation will slow down the growth a lot.
