1  Economy / Goods / Re: Want Humble Bundle?! Only have Bitcoins? NO PROBLEM!! on: August 01, 2011, 12:52:43 PM
Fast transaction from Shift! thanks for helping me support indy games!

Oh for the love of god. You're trying too hard, mate.

I pity the fool who falls for this. Looks like an obvious scam attempt to me.

And SHIFT, you failed to answer my first question. I'll take that to mean that you _don't_ let the buyer see how much you paid HB.

The idea that you would do this without charging any fee whatsoever is ridiculous.

I'm assuming you give the post-purchase HB url to the buyer so he can see exactly how much you paid, where to download the stuff, etc?

I'm also assuming most assholes doing this would just pay 1 cent to HB and keep the rest for themselves... You're not one of THOSE, are you?
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vote to get bitcoin on Fox's Freedom Watch! on: May 06, 2011, 10:26:01 PM
Let's make sure we all get on foxnews.com to help out their advertisers for the sake of...what exactly?  More press? an internet pissing contest?

IMO, internet polls are insubstantial, opaque and only serve as data-mining treasure troves.

</rant>

For the sake of bringing more public exposure to bitcoin.  Is there a problem with that?

As long as our only exchange of note is under attack and unable to fend it off for significant portions of the day there just might be. That said, voted and bumped.
4  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: [Selling] Various Steam games [Cheap prices!] on: May 02, 2011, 04:02:10 PM
Just curious, how do you plan on transferring the games? I didn't think you could resell your steam games.
5  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox - too many connections on: April 30, 2011, 10:18:15 PM
Oh, and is there another attack going on right now? Both mtgox and #bitcoin-market seem to be having problems.

Small? Typical mature exchange charges 0.01%
bitmarket.eu doesn't even have a fee.

My intention was to ask whether my calculations are correct and to start a discussion about lowering the fees at Mt Gox.

Looks right to me, except that you seem to have forgotten to multiply by 2 (both buyer and seller pay 0.65%).

Banks are only bad when you're not the banker.
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Thoughts on making fees for relaying transactions more flexible on: April 30, 2011, 09:59:01 PM
I agree that the 0.01 BTC hardcoded numbers seem to be a serious problem and should be dealt with sooner rather than later. If bitcoin reaches the valuation that some people think it deserves then having transaction fees and/or minimum transaction sizes of 0.01 BTC will be completely infeasible. Just to make an illustration, imagine having transaction fees of $1... Bye bye micropayments.
