6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hashrate on 6870 unusually high on: April 29, 2013, 12:17:42 AM
Picked up a 6870 recently for mining for a secondary rig. Card I got is right here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202032&IsVirtualParent=1

The unusual thing that I noticed is that I seem to be getting around 100 mhash/s more than I should. Running stock core @ 900mhz and getting 400 mhash/s +- 10 mhash/s over 24 hours instead of about ~300 mhash/s that seems to be the normal based on the bitcoin hardware comparison and other posts that I've found.

It's definitely a good surprise though I'm still wondering what the reason is. Is there anything different about this card to differentiate it against a normal 6870 as it doesn't seem to be different. Using GPU-Z and I'm sure that it's not auto-OC'ing under a load. Seems like performance that I would be getting from a 5870. If 6870s have changed (doubt for an old generation) and I can get performance like this I would consider getting another one for another rig that's not running. What are your opinions on this?

I wouldn't complain personally lol.  Thank the btc gods above for your good grace Smiley

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

I was wondering about the restrictions.... I wanted to help a guy out in another forum thread and couldn't reply to him Sad  This clears it all up!  Thanks!

Hey All I'm JudasNoa and have been mining BTC LTC since around January.  Just built my first LTC rig using 2x7970's and it runs pretty smooth. See pic attached Smiley
