Also is anyone running a deal where if you buy through their affiliate link they hook you up with free shares?

Also, are there any deals where you can purchase through people's affilate link and they hook you up with extra shares?  I PM'ed the guy I did this before but wanted to see what was up  Cool

mod 10 was 800 before black friday and seems to be priced high now so you wont buy it. Gen 2 is replacing dual mods but no payout calculations exist right now that make sense.

So doing the 3k shares of gen 1 is the best way to go at the moment?

Is there anyway to estimate what the gen 2 packages will generate?  I'd like to get involved in the advanced algo's to help diversify - plus it seems cool - but I have no idea how to go about working it out.

I had posted this in a different thread and thought I'd ask here also.  I'm trying to wrap my head around how the LTCgear advanced stuff works, here is what I wrote, thanks in advance for your help! (and remember BTC tips are available for help Smiley

I was wondering if someone could point me in the general direction of understanding some of the more advanced algo's with LTCgear.

I understand how the LTC mining and regular shares work - but now that I've got some experience with that, I'm trying to wrap my head around the Dual Mod M10 and the second generation product and what the ROI for that looks like.

I played around with ltcgearcalc.com and think that I'm doing something wrong because with the Dual Mod M10 for a $1200 product it seems to be making only a 30-40 dollar a week difference in what I'm doing.  I'm also trying to get a ballpark figure on what a 10 pack of the 2nd gen chips would generate in $ and I'm having a hard time.

I don't know if I'm overthinking things - but I was wondering if some kind soul could break it down for me - possibly using real world data examples so I have some more information to make a decision.  Bitcoin tips will be provided if I can understand this well enough to explain it to someone else Smiley

Not trying to hijack the thread - but I suspect a lot of other people reading this might need some help understanding how these more advanced items work.

Thanks!

I got in early too, but was considering making another large purchase, but wanted to look at some data first.  Just curious if someone had down that analysis already or not
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GAW Hashlet ROI Tracking on: September 10, 2014, 05:55:45 PM
I was curious if there is a resource for calculating or approximating new purchases now and the liklihood of achieving ROI? (similar to the genesis block calculator).

Also just found your link for the 1.5% - I wanted to utilize it but wanted to see some ROI calculations first.

Thanks!
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 20, 2014, 08:48:49 PM
I'm sorry that I'm a little bit late to the party - but can someone explain the benefit of updating the firmware?  I saw it mentioned several times but not sure what the improvement is with it.  I just got 4 new S3's in the mail today, so going through the motions of setting them up - but if someone could explain what is going on - I would really appreciate it!!!

Thanks,

Brian

PS Take pitty on me - I've been working day and night shifts, and I'm exhausted Smiley

Maybe I missed it but didn't they say S3 are going to go on sale in 3 days - aren't we passed the deadline?

So how much electricity does that unit use?

I'm considering whether to do the hosted option or shipped option.  How much would it be fore paypal for both options?

I apologize - but I need to go to work and didn't have time to do the math - hopefully a kind soul can help me out! Smiley

11  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Most Cost Effective way to buy Bitcoins? on: April 24, 2014, 10:58:14 AM
Is Bitstamp a viable option?

I've been using coinbase, but I'm looking to buy large amounts (to me) of BTC for purchasing gear - and the fees I feel like are started to eat me up.  That coupled with the fact I have to wait so many business days, is hurting my ability to get things done quicker.

Bitstamp seems like a cheaper option if you're trying to buy large amounts, just sucks for US citizens that we can't do what looks like a free SEPA transfer, and have to do a wire transfer (again added fees and waiting).

Are there any options for US Citizens to do SEPA transfers?  Also I was thinking about making my own thread - more for resellers for BTC gear who need to convert their revenue back into BTC, but blah
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 27, 2014, 06:10:27 PM
Please Help! I have my Antminer S1 all setup now: PSU setup, IP address changed, and pool info entered. However, it doesn't seem to be mining. I think there is a connection problem. I took screenshots of everything here in this album: https://imgur.com/a/9EK94

Can someone please suggest a solution. Thank you!

Under network, on the right is diagnostics, which you can ping and trace route.  That should let you know if you're miner can see the internet.

Are you sure your PSU is able to handle the workload?  It takes awhile for the info to be updated, I'm assuming when you put your pool data in you hit save and apply, not just save.  Also assuming you tried restarting it and letting it sit a minute, before seeing if it worked.

Only other thing that I saw that was different than mine, is your custom DNS servers is different than what I have listed - mine is what I have listed as iv4 gateway (the gateway setting is the DNS setting).  I'm in no way qualified what to tell you regarding that info - so please don't make any changes about that based on what I'm saying - is just something I noticed - the 8.8.8.8 looked funny to me - maybe someone with more experience with that type of networking can help! Smiley

Good luck
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 power supply on: March 27, 2014, 05:19:05 PM
I purchased one of the server PSU's from minersource.net (was very professional and fast - would highly recommend them).  I think for long term, that is by far the best solution, assuming you can stomach the noise - which is the only drawback I see.  Highly reliable and high efficiency, and an excellent value - only around $80 to power two PSUs is great.

I'm running into a problem though, in that I might be in a situation where I need to run 2 S1's short-term and need another PSU.  Its a long story involving an eBay buyer who has to wait to pay me etc..

I have a Corsair AX750, which is a gold PSU that I use to run my desktop - that I was considering trying to use to power the two S1's for a week or two - depending on how long this eBayer takes.  It has 62A on the 12V single rail, and enough PCI-X connectors.  It has also been supply two 7950's running overclocked, along with an overclocked i7 920 - faithfully and reliably.  Link to the stats:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139016

If I was going to be running these two until they aren't profitable to run anymore, I would defientely buy another server PSU.  I'm not really excited though about purchasing such a dedicated PSU - I suspect it might be difficult to resell on eBay after everyone is using the new 1Th units that come with a power supply.

What is everyone's thoughts on trying to use that unit for a few weeks?  It still is covered with several years of warranty, but don't wanna blow up a unit because of something silly.

Thoughts?
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 26, 2014, 04:55:25 PM
I've put in a few emails and PMs to bitmain, and I'm assuming they are still backed up from the problems last week.

Have people had any success getting in contact with them?  I had a few different issues, ranging from coupons - my 500 U2+ order, and a problem a customer was having with a S1.  I was also considering ordering several S1's and was curious about a discount

I'm not mad and it isn't an emergency, but has anyone been having success getting in contact with one particular method or another?  Their Customer Service and shipping has been stellar (still highly recommend them), so I'm sure it is just temporary - but would still like to get my questions answered Smiley

Any Ideas?

the NVIDIA Tesla C2070 is rated at  749.23 Mhs and my Antminer is rated at 180/Mh/s

this beg the question for me....

why not build a rig with the Tesla and mine over 3 times as fast - what am I missing?

Jeff

The Antminer's measurement is in gigahash per second - the amount of calculations per second it is using to try to solve the next block.  Each chip in the S1 is actually running at about 350 Mh or megahertz - 350 million cycles per second.  Each chip is specifically designed to generate solutions to bitcoin type calculations - or SHA256

The Nvidia card's chip is running at 750 Megahertz - which means how many cycles per second - not how many hashes it is generating.  As the chip in these aren't designed for doing this type of calculations, they aren't geared toward this type of work.

As Gh or Mh are commonly used in computers (and bitcoins) it is just assumed that people are usually picking up on the difference between hashes/second or cycles/second.  In bitcoin equipment, when talking about computing power - they are likely taking about hashes (solutions) per second.

Oh no my order expired even though the bit coin went through  Shocked . Fuck I hope my wife doesn't get the last laugh  Cry .
Anybody have an thoughts on this?

What do you mean by "expired"?   Bitmain is very reliable.  Be patient. My last order didn't show it was "shipping" on their website until 2 days after it shipped. Good luck!

Its never easy to watch your money in limbo , the order expires after an hour if they haven't received payment, even though I sent the bitcoin immediately it expired and show unpaid, was a long night thinking about my wife telling me  " I told you so" , but this morning it says paid. So everything good I guess they will manually send the order is what I  got from a prompt message return here in the forum from bit main.

its an auto timer to weed out timewasters, as you will have noticed its probably;

paid
shipped/unshipped
valid

now?

Yeah same thing happened to me with the expiring, and was sorted out with tracking - minus the wife telling me I told you so Smiley

I've bought a few S1's from them, always professional and prompt, so I wasn't worried at all.
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 power supply on: March 07, 2014, 02:43:31 AM
With the Rosewill 450W with free shipping, is 37A at 12v enough to power?

At $60 each, wouldn't be a bad deal - think it would push the PSU too much?
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 power supply on: March 06, 2014, 05:45:43 PM
I'd be curious about a (2) S1 PSU solution, along with a (3) PSU solution.  I saw the 1300 Evga recommendation, but I'm curious about the price vs efficiency - if it is worth it.  The price on amazon is $200, which seems like a lot - maybe I'm mistaken

Saying to someone figure it out yourself - kinda defeats the purpose of a forum.  Searching provides some answers, but hey, the question is already asked, so let's discuss Smiley

I'd like to secure 46 U2's, I'm waiting for my BTC to confirm to send over, who figured it would take 40 minutes to get 0 confirmations (just my luck).

When I get home from work (Monday morning) I'll wire over the funds.

Thanks!

20  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN][WORLDWIDE] Asicminer 49 Port USB Hub (Paypal $170) on: February 25, 2014, 06:28:07 PM
These are really nice hubs. I have 3. I high recommend them. However, they only run about 28-34 U1's each. Still, the bang for the buck is great and they have great resale potential. A++

By the way, I recommend CanaryIntheMine for escrow

Is that really true?  Any reason why it won't support the max?
