How can we ensure that Bitcoins are distributed equitably to traditionally underrepresented groups? When Iīm gona become rich, I will share my BTC with prostitutes of all races. I promise. Many other of the "white" nerds and geeks here will do the same for sure, so thereīs no need to sorrow... Also for sure this is gonna work better than every govermental programm. "Ethnic diversity" is just a way to discriminate against white males. Full ACK

SEPA wires are =~free, it's the currency exchange part that is heavily charged Thought the same for transfers inside EU, but I was informed are not free in all countries. EU law says only they are allowed to cost as much as national transfers. However, in most cases the should be free.

Iīve read only the initial message, so I may repeat something. Sorry for that. I think Bitcoin is like a gold currency would be, and this worked fine in the past over a long period of time. How could deflation be a problem for a currency? I think it canīt. Even if one thinks the lack of inflation is not good for the economy, then itīs still not destroying a currency. There is also noch technical problem: Bitcoin can be splitted in smaller and smaller parts. I thought today a slowly increasing BTC value would be perfect for the most users. (Real) inflation is if someone creates more money than the economy grows, not the decreasing value of a currency (this is newspeak). So on the long run (real) inflation is absolutely not possible in Bitcoin. Decreasing value of BTC may happen, but severe scenarios are hard to imagine, except a huge speculation bubble bursts. There may be interventions then, but not with newly created money, which would be the same fraud like within the fiat money systems today. Or maybe if it would be worldwide forbidden to shop with BTC but cashout would still be possible, then the value could really drop. It would go to far to discuss this any further here. To The Underground Economistīs comment: Who wants to give up money thats constantly rising in value? Some people like to consume. And Bitcoins can be splitted, so theirs always enough money. or the merchants will get tired of changing their prices every few seconds They can calculate with a price they want and must not change their prices all the time. If this manages to start any inflationary momentum at all, youll see the deflation scenario played out in reverse. And whos going to stop it? The supply of Bitcoin is fixed and there is no other use for it besides as a currency. I doubt prices will have much of a chance to rise, since this will happen so fast. Merchants will go from taking one coin for a year of porn to not taking Bitcoin at all, and a bunch of people will be left with worthless Bitcoin. BTC are always having a value through their usefullness, and people may speculate on a comeback of the value. Itīs an advantage that there would be no goverment or Fed which is able to print money or change all the rules. Before you call yourself a post-Austrian just read their books, or at least one of them. Iīm not calling myself an economist, but I know more about it than this guy.

Western Union is expensive, it makes sense for big transfers but not for small. There is also Moneygram as alternative.

I have 5-year experience with Truecrypt drives and they are not suspectible to data loss much more than any other/normal hard drive.
Unless, of course, you forget the password. But there are ways to easily memorize a long password. If you would have been visited by FBI, the data would be lost. This was ment. Have to backup and store the backup elswhere, maybe also online. Wualla accepts bitcoins, but their prices bases on a lower BTC value.

Yet another encouragement to use Truecrypt.
Donīt forget to backup, and store this elswhere. Or the data can be lost.

The problem I seem to find no solution for: if I want to integrate BTC into my webshop, I'd like to charge the same amount of "real" money in BTC ... Is there any solution to that problem? If not, I'm not sure how bitcoin will move beyond speculation and drug trade :/ Welcome! There is no real problem, just make the price in BTC how you want it. Choose the $ price of MtGox or take more cause the risk, or less if you want BTCs or support this currency. If people have BTCs and want to cashout they may prefer shopping in BTC if itīs cheap or they prefer to cashout if they get more for their BTC. On the other hand you may buy BTC cheaper instead of running a shop and take a low price for your products. So itīs your decision. I think it depends on what is your priority: Support BTC (sell cheap), make money to cash out (sell expensive) or to make BTC to hold them (you may sell cheap and speculate).

I think itīs a botnet, they may have been charged by rivals like Paypal or the Fed but more likely by some other webcurrency or a blackmailer, or itīs a speculant who wants to get lower prices by scaring us.
