1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [LTC] An (even more) optimized version of cpuminer on: July 15, 2013, 03:10:01 PM
A couple of Windows users reported what is probably the same issue over a month ago: https://github.com/pooler/cpuminer/issues/21
Two other Windows users I asked said they could download the archives and run the miner with no problem at all, though, so I closed the issue when the original reporter stopped answering my questions.
For what it's worth, I have no problem accessing the files hosted at Sourceforge, so I'd be grateful if you could provide some more detail. Operating system, browser information, and what error you get exactly would be a good start.
Please also try to download the files from this page and see if there's any difference.

Sorry, but no difference.
I've tried on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox - both tries failed.

On Google Chrome - I've got error "unexpected network error"
On Mozilla Firefox - error "File can't be saved - Mozilla can't read the source file" (I've translate it from my language, so the error may be little different)

I use Win 7 32-bit

I suspect it is your antivirus or firewall... Avast identified it as a threat. It is just a false positive.

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Why the hate? on: May 04, 2013, 05:39:48 PM
I see people trolling and decrying the "end" of bitcoin - why do you think they hate?

1) Sudden Onset Douchebag Syndrome
2) Troll
3) Late to the Party
4) All HAIL the mighty Dollar!
5) Wants ALT like PPCoin, Ripple or Novacoin
6) Scared of Change

Pick one.

feathercoins seem to be kinda popular...
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Discussion on ALT Coins on: May 04, 2013, 02:12:36 AM
I'd like to hear some discussions about ALT coins and why you like them - been reading some of the other forums but they are pretty confusing. My understand is Litecoin is basically second just on volume - but Peer2Peer Coin is coming up fast.
Thoughts?

Your third advantage is what intrigues me... I think they may be able to move that fast.

Nothin - like at ALL. Just acceptance of payment. What did you get? man I'd love one of those 50 GH/s but wonder how practical it will be. It will be interesting once they outlive the usefulness how they can be modified - even at all - but hey i guess we'll see.
The FAQ does say end of April and we've all seen the samples for the Press - I estimate they will deliver them by the end of the month, maybe 2. Meanwhile the difficulty goes up and up....

Hi Everyone - just wanted to say hello and mention I'm a long time lurker - first time poster.
Got involved with Bitcoins in 2011 just didn't have the money and only used CPU's - managed to garner 5 after a while and I guess it fell out of favour.
Taking way too long - so I switched my focus onto folding@home and always had a seti search in the background.
Well, I wanted to wade in again recently and started up a new wallet - things are much easier right now!
I'm still behind the ball on mining and there's no way I have enough to purchase bitcoins but it was exciting to get back into it.
My Main PC has a N8400 with 4 cpu cores - that got about 1.6Mhash/s
second PC has a Radeon 5450 and got a whopping 13.5 Mhash/s
I know this is relatively non-existant but I know the ASIC's are coming and wanted to setup before they came out.
I purchased a Jalapeno about a month ago and just waiting for them to be released. I know it's minimal but it's mine and I'm hoping to be on the last wave.
So to diversify, I also got into LiteCoins and just finished setting that up.
Well, I said my hello and introduced myself. Hope to see you around.

Cheers!
