1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seeking advice on keystore import to sparrow wallet on: September 07, 2023, 04:49:17 PM

The replies to my question here, however well intentioned, do not address the actual problem i am attempting to solve.

Perhaps i wasn't clear enough in my description of the situation.

The electrum.dat wallet file i have is from around the 2013 period - however, in comparing the seed structure of my wallet to other electrum.dat wallets i have created using older releases of the electrum client from the same period, it appears that the seed structure of the wallet i have is markedly different to the 32 character alphanumeric strings that the other wallets i have been creating present in their wallet files, despite them also being of the electrum.dat type.

The developer of Sparrow is attempting to support importing old keystore type electrum wallets into his project, and has been asking me to examine the structure of my wallet to ascertain how he can go about doing this.

As i have mentioned, the older releases of Electrum i have downloaded (from the 'Previous Releases' Index on Electrum.org ) and created wallets with use a 32 character structure for defining the seed in the electrum.dat wallet file, with a seed version defined as 4, BUT mine, despite being from the same period, does not.

The seed structure of my wallet file is defined by a much longer string, containing several groups of alphanumeric data joined together by plus signs, with an equals sign at it's end - and the 'seed version' of the wallet is defined as 18.

I am attempting to discover why my wallet is so different in it's wallet seed structure and seed version number to the other electrum.dat wallets i am able to create using the older releases of the client.

2  Bitcoin / Electrum / Seeking advice on keystore import to sparrow wallet on: September 06, 2023, 12:15:28 PM
I have recently been in contact with a developer (Craig Raw) on Github regarding my inability to import an old keystore type electrum.dat file into Sparrow wallet.

https://github.com/sparrowwallet/sparrow/issues/1080

He has been looking into the problem and i have been attempting to inform him of the nature of the keystore aspects of the wallet that fails to import.

Looking through previous releases of Electrum (1.8 - 1.9.8 ) which date from around the time (2013) i created the wallet, has shown the seed type in the wallet files to be of an 'old' type, shown as a 32 character alphanumeric string, and the 'seed version' to be 4 in all releases.

However, the wallet i have has a wildly different type of seed in the keystore section of the wallet file - with a varied set of strings joined by plus signs, with an equals sign at the end of it, in a much longer overall string.

The 'seed version' number is also different, being 18.

I'm interested if anyone here can advise as to why my seed and version are so different.

slightly OT, but can electrum sweep a key 'offline' - i mean can the sweep be initiated on an offline wallet and then loaded onto an online machine ?

cos i'm wondering if the sweep function is vulnerable to some form of attack if done on an online machine, as you're sweeping a private key...

what a dismal job he has, posting all this drivel - i think it's driven him mad, actually

i was bemused for a while, but now his deranged rantings are wretched to witness

such a fake thread - just total bollocks

it's like groundhog day on this forum

only solution - stick with core, as gavin and co. are, seemingly daily now, revealed in an increasingly stark light

the desperation of the Klassik Krew has become truly pathetic to witness

they used to be funny, with toomim on drugs and gavin whittling his Bitcoin stick ever smaller with every dismal failure to frighten, cajole and persuade people to adopt his insidious fork - but that was yesterday...

oh dear, gavin, your trousers are down - somebody tell him, he doesn't seem to be able to hear any of us when we say it...
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin's Block Size Debate is a Proxy War on: March 13, 2016, 02:22:57 AM
and the propaganda war continues...

trying to control the narrative of the project using the media, after failure to seize control of the code with Classic/XT/whatever

some amusingly deranged, and fake comments on this thread, too - albeit from some of the usual suspects
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block size max cap should be raised to 2mb with block halving in July 2016 -Y/N? on: March 01, 2016, 11:34:28 PM

it's like whole threads full of 2MB zombies have shuffled over from r/btc to here lately

a Bitcoin/George Romero movie mashup...

it's total overshill - is anyone taking all these ( how many now ? ) full blox!!! FUD threads seriously ?

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool is now up to 25.5 MB with 22,200 transactions waiting. on: February 29, 2016, 08:28:57 PM
spam spam spam

probably a tit for tat thing IF the DDOS on Classic was real just recently, and not of their own doing (which also wouldn't surprise me)

so boring to still be fending these gimps off...

the spooks seem to be trying to bore us to death with their drivel

only paid shills and/or mental defectives would go on and on like they do

perhaps they consider it respite to come here, rather than thrash around in that sewer full of rabid zombies at r/btc

anyhoo... onward!

the whole thing feels like a PR pantomime

this thread's a lurid promotion of it

more attempts at politically motivated influence of development
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ToominCoin aka "Bitcoin_Classic" #R3KT on: February 20, 2016, 03:22:45 PM
ye gods, are classic still howling into the void about this ?
