1  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: My bitcoin (blockchain) is pending confirmation. 0/3 even after 8 days today. on: May 29, 2017, 07:38:04 PM
I've been using blockchain monthly for a couple of years with no issues until recently. Last month confirmation took overnight. This month, it took almost a couple of weeks. I never considered fees before now. Maybe there are other issues with blockchain, but there is no doubt if you look at https://bitcoinfees.21.co/, the problem is that blockchain is not just recommending insufficient fees, they are warning users against them. This tells me that blockchain has been sitting on their market share without bothering to look at what has been happening in the market. If they were being proactive, they would have had a working dynamic fee calculator. What they are calling a dynamic fee calculator is a complete joke. I have no way to prove it, but I suspect the massive backlog of unconfirmed transactions that has been present in the 91-120 sat/B category of the above link for the past couple of weeks has been caused largely by blockchain.
2  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Issue with Blockchain.info Transaction on: May 29, 2017, 03:55:16 PM
Thanks for all the help. I've read all the links and while they are logical, my blockchain.info account does that show some of the options that would help to solve my issue. Anyone know the email address for blockchain.info support?

Just to revise: even though I created the address in blockchain.info, it's not showing up as neither my current active address nor archived address. That's why I imported it back into blockchain.info, but now it's asking for a private key that I do not have access to or cannot find. I'm pretty good with following instructions, but somehow something isn't adding up in this case.

Thanks again.
Go to support.blockchain.com. You will have to register and then create a support request (https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/requests/new). Good luck getting this sorted out.

OP, the same thing happened to me. Fortunately, the backlog reduced somewhat yesterday and my transactions cleared. Looks like it's getting backed up again. Unfortunately for a lot of noobs, including you and I, blockchain is giving bad advice but taking no responsibility for it.
4  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What is the best bitcoin wallet now? on: May 29, 2017, 12:45:14 AM
Blockchain.info is still the best for me since we can fully trust this site and see certain transaction made easily without having a laggy times around. But currently im using coins.ph since these wallet is the one who's been known to my country and we can withdraw our btc to fiat easily on any banks available around but i can't trust this wallet for long time staking since they have bad issue on wallet locking and we cannot do nothing with it since they will keep that we violate their TOS.
I think blockchain is a trustworthy company and their wallet is easy to use. However, it's so dumbed down and their "dynamic fee calculator" is so broken that it's a detriment, and their support is utterly non-existent. Trust and simplicity don't count for much if you can't trust the wallet to recommend appropriate fees and to provide a proper mechanism to enter custom fees. To enter a custom fee, you have to know the transaction size and then convert the fee from sat/B into the required form. For most people, that's not simple.
5  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What is the best bitcoin wallet now? on: May 28, 2017, 10:06:41 PM
Let's start with the worst bitcoin wallets that beginners should avoid like the plague:

blockchain.info - comes up in search results so beginners use it but is terrible at estimating fees. There are more complaints about stuck transactions with this wallet than any other. Do not use!
Blockchain seems to be a stable company, but what you say is correct. Their dynamic fee calculator is a complete joke. It's worse than useless. If you want to enter custom fees, you need to know what you're doing, because the blockchain wallet does not support entering fees in sat/B, does not even tell you the transaction size and if you enter a fee that's higher than their recommendation, it will give you a warning as if it's grossly excessive. In addition, the blockchain wallet does not provide RBF so if you have a stuck transaction, all you can do is wait and hope that blockchain won't keep resending it. On top of all that, blockchain support is completely useless. You may as well send an email to Santa. Why do I know this? Because only this morning, two stuck transactions that blockchain resent finally confirmed. One was stuck for almost two weeks, the other for more than a week. The only reason they finally cleared is because the mempool is finally getting less backlogged. Blockchain is a great example of a company that's only around because of past reputation. They are ripe for some competition to come in and take their business away.

Both of the transactions finally completed. I'm going to look into moving away from blockchain.info. Their support sucks and their wallet isn't much better.

Note that cengsuwuei is just a piece of shit paid signature thread spammer and will not be back to this thread so trying to converse with him is a total waste of time.
Thanks for letting me know.

Unfortunately, two of the d*mn transactions are still in my wallet. Was really hoping they would disappear like the other one.
8  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Transactions stuck in wallet, not sure what to do on: May 25, 2017, 06:11:35 AM
The most recent transaction, submitted Saturday, May 20, 8:46 AM, disappeared from my wallet this morning. I was hoping the others would disappear this afternoon, but they are still there.

if you want fast confirmation in sending you must incraese sending fee,
because this now traffic bitcoin transaction is big, is fast under 20 minute confirmation you can use sending fee 300satoshi/bytes
I understand that now, but when I resent with a higher fee, there was a double spend, which took out my most recent transaction. Based on that, I'm expecting another double spend if I try to send again with these two transactions stuck in my wallet. I don't even know why they are there. They originally went away, then came back from the dead. I would like to be able to specify how many days for the transaction to wait for confirmation before it gets deleted. The problem is that the blockchain.info wallet is very simplistic.

I need to send some bitcoins, but I’m not sure how long I must wait. I thought it was “safe” when the first two transactions disappeared, but that wasn’t the case. Based on what happened before, I’m assuming if I try again, the same thing will happen, since there is still an unconfirmed transaction. So how long should I wait before I try again? When will the double spend transactions disappear from my wallet?

Only blockchain.info knows. I suggest you contact their support and ask.

I suggest you move to proper wallet software like Bitcoin Core. It may be burdensome considering synchronizing and hardware use, but at least you can be sure that transactions are working 100% as intended. Normally 2 days wait time should lead to automatic reappearance of transactions with insufficient fees. Blockchain.info seems to be mixing things up here.
Just looked at bitcoin core. I could overlook the 100 GB startup, but 5 GB per day is a lot.
11  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Transactions stuck in wallet, not sure what to do on: May 23, 2017, 07:08:07 PM
I can really relate with his and even looking for answers for my own situation when on Saturday I made transfer from the same blockchain using the recommended fee which obviously was too low and unfortunately till today the amount still remain unconfirmed and didn't even return to the originating wallet which is something so annoying to witness at this time.
Getting anything out of blockchain.info support is like talking to a wall. Their support is completely useless. I have no way to know when the unconfirmed transactions will go away. I don't know if I try to use my wallet again if it will cause the transactions to be resubmitted again like last time. What a f*cking joke!

Blockchain.info, or someone else, appears to be rebroadcasting failed transactions in a kind of "low fee transaction rebroadcast" attack.  All these poor people/noobs just trying to send Bitcoins get screwed.  Is there any way to find out who is rebroadcasting all these failed transactions?
In the transactions, you can see the ip address that they were relayed from.

Thanks for your reply. blockchain.info support is completely useless. They respond with a canned reply or just close the request with no reply. blockchain.info definitely has a broken / useless dynamic fee calculator, but I wonder if they also caused the transactions to be resent, with updated date / time. The transactions I originally submitted are gone without a trace. I'm wondering when these unconfirmed transactions will disappear and my balance will return to what it should be.

Here are the transactions:

I've never considered using another wallet because I didn't want to deal with backup, but this situation makes me consider it. Where is the best place to find out about using bitcoin core?
14  Economy / Web Wallets / Transactions stuck in wallet, not sure what to do on: May 23, 2017, 05:09:41 PM
I've been using bitcoin for a few years for periodic transactions, never had any problems until now. I use blockchain.info as my wallet. I had no idea that their "dynamic fee calculator" is useless and recommends fees that are too low for transactions to be confirmed when the load is high, like now.

I'm hoping to receive some advice.

Here is the background:

On May 16, 12 AM, I sent bitcoin using the fee recommended by blockchain.info. The fee was 105.116 sat/B. This transaction was not confirmed after a long time, so on May 18, 9 PM, I sent again using a higher fee, 116.078 sat/B. (I would have gone with a higher fee, but it was warning me not to.)

On May 20 in the morning, I noticed that both transactions had disappeared from the record of my wallet, so at 8:45 AM, I sent again with a higher fee, 116.732 sat/B. By this time, I had learned that the fees recommended by blockchain.info are too low for transactions to be confirmed when the load is high. I intended to use the fee recommended by https://bitcoinfees.21.co/, but I used their median transaction size of 226 bytes, not realizing it was incorrect because there should have been two outputs, 257-258 bytes. Since this fee was also too low to get quickly confirmed, it got stuck.

On May 20, 2:10 PM, the original two transactions reappeared with a later date / time. The original was counted as a double spend with the newest. All three are still in the pool with 0/3 confirmations. The second transaction is not a double spend, but it's stuck.

I've noticed for my humble 1x5770 that the hash rate reported by the site is much higher than the actual rate. Why is that?
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LiteCoin mining for a noob on: May 04, 2013, 04:10:55 PM
My 7970 is running at around 600 kH/s, generating around .10 ltc per day.

33 LiteCoins are one Bitcoin (i believe) so it would take you nearly a year to mine with a 7970 to get to 1 bitcoin?
This makes no sense what so ever. I don't fully understand how this works yet, but I will let my folding farm mine for litecoins for a few days. I really want to know what happens if I put a real effort into it.

I have no doubt that it will not be worth the effort, but unless I really try it for a longer time, I will never know if this computer is any good for this purpose. Someone told me that litecoins are just better for CPU...

If you're suggesting that CPU is preferable for LTC, I disagree. It would take FOREVER to generate anything with a CPU. A GPU works better for LTC than BTC because of the use of scrypt, rather than just SHA256.

I just started mining and I'm using wemineltc. It took approximately 66 hours or 2.75 days to generate 1 LTC. That works out to 0.36 LTC per day, from 200 kH/s. That amount is consistent with the "calculator" on the pool website. If your card is generating 3x the hash rate, you should be generating 1 LTC per day.

Doesn't seem to work with bfgminer:

This keeps repeating every fifteen seconds:

Code:

[2013-05-03 16:39:43] Most likely you have input the wrong URL, forgotten to add a port, or have not set up workers

[2013-05-03 16:39:43] Press any key to exit, or BFGMiner will try again in 15s.

Any idea what is happening?

Thank you in advance for your help.
I get this every time I try to connect.

Just to be clear, I have to keep trying to connect for a while, then it eventually connects and starts working.
