2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 26% stale shares please help :-( on: March 26, 2018, 05:34:17 AM
I have two rx470x6 rigs and they run off of wifi onto a 10mbps fibre line, recently they have been getting ridiculously high stale shares - can this be to do with the rumours about asics miners mining ether/ether classic?

Or are my rigs just up to crap? Some people allege that wifi is not ideal for the rigs and they should have a ethernet connection but they never had issues before and ran at about 5% stale shares at most?

Atm stats are:

151.4 MH/s   106.2 MH/s   78 (74%)           27 (26%)   0 (0%)   11 minutes ago
157.9 MH/s   125.6 MH/s   100 (83%)   20 (17%)   0 (0%)   12 minutes ago

Your guidance is appreciated.

yeah i am sing amd, so if i leave the hdmi adapter in the card even unconnected to a monitor and then try accessing it from teamviewer it won't shit the bed and drop to 0mh/s?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Teamviewer and GPU Mh/s drops to 0 on: March 23, 2018, 06:29:11 AM
Hi Guys and Gals

I wonder if you would kindly lend me your superior knowledge of mining for a minute...

I set up a new rig and it was working fine, but as soon as i started mining with my gaming desktop at night one of the cards on my rig gpu0 dropped to 0mh/s - i eventually got so frustrated thinking it has something to do with my card on my desktop mining that i mounted the gaming card with the mining cards on the rig and now using on board graphics on my desktop - rig seemed happy and chugging away.

The first time i tried to look at the rig on teamviewer from my desktop the mining rig gpu0 drops immidiately to 0 and i have to disconnect the screen on my desktop, connect it to the mining rig and do a restart for the gpu0 to go back to it's original speeds...

I am fairly decent with computers but this strange behaviour has me mistified....

I need to be able to look at the rig on teamviewer without gpu0 dropping to 0mh/s and having to connect a screen and doing a restart, you help in this situation would be kindly appreciated.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Stratum for Ethereum. Increase earning up to 20% compared to getwork. on: August 30, 2017, 10:14:30 AM
trying this proxy with dwarfpool, it connects and listens for miner, then i use genoil to connect using the settings here, it says can not find mining hardware....i have 6 rx580's, it does not detect them at all, can I use claymore to mine and run it through this proxy?

when i run the devices.bat file it picks up all 6 cards...but when I run the miner it picks up 0 wtf?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Supernova.cc reporting bug or scam? on: August 25, 2017, 03:45:56 PM
I am new to mining and have finally reached the point where my rig is stable and all tweaks working, decided to dual mine decred - i mined on supernova.cc and get consistently 10-15% lower hash rate than what simple mining is reporting?

Is this some error or a scam?

I mine Ether on nano pool and was going to switch to supernovacc because their reporting looked good but nanopool reported hash and simple mining is same...now I don't know about supernova anymore...

I see some guy crying about 15 ether supernova 'lost' what he mined as well, all starts to look a bit sketch to me....

Can someone tell me if I am wrong please, I have nothing against the pool and would switch my ether miner to them too if they are not exploiting the miners.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: August 22, 2017, 12:08:47 PM
Hi guys,

I have a silly question: with the miner drivers for amd my rx580's are getting 172 mh/s on windows.

When I use simplemining's linux based system I get 158mh/s

Is there anyway the driver improvements from the windows system can be implimented for the simple mining linux os?

Thanks.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Installing new AMD mining drivers on: August 19, 2017, 06:33:32 PM
Hi Guys and Gals

Please help, I had some bad results installing mining drivers, I followed a mates instruction to use DDU in safe mode then remove old drivers and restart rig.

He told me to disconnect power to 5 our of 6 cards and just install driver on 1 card, then re connect all and restart rig, apparently the other cards would get the new drivers automatically...

This did not happen, it only saw 3 of the 6 cards and I used windows to manually install the other 3 cards....but this cause all kinds of issues with opencl and eventually I just uninstalled and reverted to the old 17.1.1

Is this the correct way to install the drivers? Should I try the mining drivers again? With the next DAG Epoch looming in 5 days I really want to max the mining rate for my rig.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / RX580 Strapped Memory all Samsung - what now? on: August 19, 2017, 08:42:25 AM
Hi Guys

I am busy fine tuning my first mining rig, my pride and joy - it has 6x RX580 RoG strixx oc editions all with samsung memory in it.

I have managed to strap the 1:1750 to the 1:2000 mem and it boosted my speed per card from 24mh/s to 27Mh/s

I tried the new amd mining drivers and it screwed up my entire rig and struggled for 2 days to get it working again, nicehash crashed everytime it tried to run, eventually got it mining through claymore after resetting all the card settings to default and installing 17.1.1

Long story short it is running super stable but my next step is to tweak it a bit for lower power consumption which is scary to me because I know very little about this step and don't want to screw up the rig now mining stable at 169mh/s on ether.

here is the current stock settings as it is running atm:

Any guidance on what the next best step is would be greatly appreciated, I have read some good guides on under volting and memory clock/core clock settings to use but if anyone has these specific cards and memory and has had some good results your input is greatly appreciated.

I am wary of undervolting and setting clocks and having it crash and become unstable again just when I got it stable again..
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 6 gpu rog strix rx470 8gb help with optimization on: August 11, 2017, 03:38:28 PM
Hi Guys

I have just bought a rig which runs on simpleming os and uses claymore - i currently have 24mh/s per card but have read alot about being able to get that up a lot higher by bios flashing, I also want to do dual mining but do not have a dual mining script for mining ubiq/sia coin. Looking for someone who can help, I have mined some Ether and willing to pay for help to set up rig to optimal mh/s.

Please inbox me or help me for free on forum would be great. I apologise if this was covered elsewhere but I just can not find accurate help for my specific situation, I did search before posting.

Thank you.

anyone?

I checked coinwarz it reckons that I should mine CHNCoin with a scrypt miner for maximum profits....who the heck would even buy this CHNCoin in exchange for btc?  This altcoin thing still blows my mind....

I feel saver with things like dash coin as cryptocompare gives me the stats for mining things like dash....

I am more confused about maximum profitability with 1/2 dedicated miners like x11 or scrypt or sha-256.....what do I pick....please help.

Ok, so a friend and I decided to mine for bitcoin seriously and looked at options, currently direct bitcoin mining even with a Antiminer at 13.5th seems to not be profitable enough for us to use it as a full time income.

We live in South Africa and mining bit coin here costs about 0.15cents per watt.

So far with our limited knowledge, altcoin mining and converting it to bitcoin or taking a mining contract with genesismining seems the best way to go. (we have read some bad things about cloud mining never giving a true profit so want to steer clear of this)

Altcoin miners according to crytpocompare just come out miles ahead in the profitability stakes.

Can someone tell me why altcoin is viable?

Why does anyone even mine it apart from the obvious fact that it is easy to mine, when bitcoin is the original and so strong($3300), and are most people converting these altcoins to bitcoin which kind of defeats their usefulness as no one wants them they just mine them to convert to bitcoin?

Thank you for your time - we currently intend on trying to source an antminer d3 for dash mining as the price and the mining capability seems the most profitable. It has seemed to be near on impossible to get hold of one so help in how to source these machines would really help.

Please let us know what you think, your South African friends.
