In the wallet, what does "stake" mean?

That's what PoS mean.

More coins you own, more stakes you have.

You can mint more COMMs with more stakes.

I am rarely interested in an altcoin. But this time I found the CommunityCoin is great due to the freedom spirit.
Just falling in love with it.

My wallet is here:

My Cryptocointalk ID is lepage.

Bless myself.
12  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy 1 &2 SOLDOUT) AVAIL 1 KNC SATURN [200GHs Miner] Day 1 Deliver on: January 06, 2014, 07:56:54 PM
Just to follow up on my last post, Charles got me straightened out and I received my payout. Thanks!

I don't know if anyone will see my reply here, but I owned one share of this group buy (jrlepage on the spreadsheet) and I missed the whole "test payment" thing a few months back. Honestly I kinda just forgot about this after the long wait assuming the miner may never arrive, and didn't realize we were going to have to do another confirmation.

Does anyone know if Charles can still send my payout? My address is correct on the spreadsheet and everything... I sent him a PM, just panicking slightly.

Excited to own 1 share! Smiley Looking forward to seeing how this turns out; well worth the gamble imo.

P.S. When's the last time you updated the number of shares sold? Curious how many are left at this point.

Thanks absolutely fair! Smiley

Max for some reason that HYC wallet isn't loading up for me, it hangs on loading block index... I'm compiling one also, will see if I have same issue with the one I compile.

Weird. You're on Snow Leopard, right? I keep wondering whether my wallets that I compile with the 10.7 settings will work on OS X versions before Lion. Maybe that's the problem. Unfortunately I have a pretty limited set of machines I can test on.  Tongue

Thanks for the link to the new Mincoin client, I'll update it.

ryanb, no hard feelings at all if you want to give the bounty to jrlepage.

I'm on 10.8.3... Yeah I use the 10.7 flags also. I'm not sure to be honest why yours wouldn't work for me. I checked otool -L on your binary and all the dependencies looked the same on yours as they were on mine. I'll play around some more tomorrow, but it's possible that my machine is just wonky from all the libraries I've installed, un-installed and updated with brew.

Btw I'm totally fine with splitting the bounty or whatever ryan wants to do, because you clearly know what you're doing...and since our sample size is really small, it's entirely possible that nothing's wrong with your client. Smiley

Mine seems to be working fine:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7405118/hypercoin-qt.zip

Again, I don't know if that was a system-specific issue causing your version not to work on my machine, but yours hangs up for me. If any other Mac users run into the same issue, mine seems to be working okay.

Also, Max, I've compiled a more recent version of the MinCoin client for Mac if you want to update your thread of Mac clients (this is version 0.6.4 reflecting the hard fork:  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7405118/MinCoin-Qt_v064.zip).

I don't know how ryanb wants to handle a bounty - if you feel I'm deserving of any of it, here is my HYC address:

20  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Help Locating Detailed BTC Whitepapers on: May 16, 2013, 11:41:09 PM
Hello- To any and all devs associated with Bitcoin or derivative alt coins:

I am studying the Bitcoin protocol and thus far have been unable to locate a true "whitepaper" that discloses the entire project in a language-independent fashion.

The extent of what the devs seem to have published is: 1) The source code, obviously, 2) A vague summary published here along with a Wiki: http://bitcoin.org/en/development

What I am looking for are true, honest-to-goodness whitepapers like you would find if you google it for the SHA algorithm, for example.

Some of the details that appear to be lacking from the aforementioned sources include how the transactions are combined to be hashed (specifics), how the nonce is incremented, etc.

If the answer is just: "There are no whitepapers, look at the source," that's fine. I would just imagine with such vast amounts of money dependent on bitcoin, that such a whitepaper would be pre-requisite to any major businesses using it for serious transactions.

In the summary describing Bitcoin, the authors are quick to cite SHA-256 as being secure, but just because one step in a process is secure does not make the whole thing secure. I am trying to determine if anyone has made an extensive study of the source and attempted to provide justification that the SHA-256 algorithm is being employed in a fashion that still guarantees security for the overall system.

Again, I understand that it's open source and that "all the details are out there" for anyone willing to comb through it, but even open source protocols typically have language-independent whitepapers.

Thanks to anyone who can help point me in the right direction!
