1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How do you distribute your Hash? on: December 12, 2017, 09:39:32 AM
I mine the algo that is good for the GPU or ASIC.  If you have a bunch of rigs with the same GPU, then you can spread your hash around, but you need to believe in the coin.  Otherwise, if you are in it for profit, just go with the most profitable coin for that algo.  Unfortunately, that changes quite often, so you need to keep up with it.

There are many schools of thought... pick one and experiment, then pick another and experiment.  Eventually, you will have a sound strategy.

To be clear here, I am not asking advice on 'the best strategy'. I am asking for what everyones own approach is to mining, if people care to share.

I have a 1070 rig, that does zcash and a rx580 rig doing ether, however I hold my coins. So my strategy is different from yours.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How do you distribute your Hash? on: December 10, 2017, 08:23:02 PM
Hello dear fellow miners,

I am wondering what the approach for mining is of some fellow miners regarding distribution of their hash in three questions
1. Do you mine only 1 coin or do you mine several coins?
2. If you have two seperate miners mining one coin, do you use the same pool?
3. At what interval do you switch your coin mining choice?

For example, I will fill it in for myself:

1. I mine several coins, namely: Ethereum (50%), Ubiq (25%), Zcash(25%) and Lbry (dual)
2. I do use the same pools for single coins, however i use different pools for different coins (nanopool for ethereum, maxhash for ubiq)
3. I check my profitabilty once every two weeks, although I dont need it to be in the top, I just want profitability to be okay

I wonder what the results will be.

Thank you SummersideGuy,

Gonna try out immediately!

My miner has very low memory and i don't have time to switch to linux. If a windows release comes available ill be in.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 560 4GB Ethereum on: September 11, 2017, 01:28:22 AM
Hey peeps,

Bought myself 3 rx 560's 4gb, one Sapphire pulse, two msi aero itx. All the cards have hynix memory and I can't get them past 10 mhs after blockchain patch and memspeed increase. Having trouble with the memspeed increase also, errors come up really fast past 1900mhz.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU mining 2017? on: August 21, 2017, 02:39:42 AM
Hey folk! I have been looking into buying a cheap mining rig

I found a cheap rx 470 and bought it right away. Planning to mine Ubiq with the GPU. To offset investment costs I went looking for a very cheap second hand decent pc. I found a few, with different cpu's and price ranges

The i7 930 (cheapest) (idle system power 112W*, peak system power 240W**, does have 2nd PCI-e slot on mobo so I can connect more vid cards if i can get my hands on some)
FX 6100 (more expensive, don't have details on mobo yet, idle system power 99W, peak system power 225W, 220MHS on monero)
FX 8150 (most expensive, dont have details on mobo yet, idle system power 100W, peak system power 252W, 330MHS on monero)

* +** idle and peak system power numbers are plucked from benchmarking sites to benchmark the CPU real load through socket meter

I pay 0.1799$ per/kwh

So is CPU mining combined with GPU mining unprofitable in these cases?
Should I not try mining with these CPU's and go for the cheapest option, the i7 930 or for the little more expensive, but lower idle power FX 6100.
Or should i try to mine monero for example on my 6100 or 8150, while using the GPU to mine UBIQ?

Orrrrr should i keep looking and find a cheap celeron with a tdp of 35W.

Not sure if people are massively dumping because the price did not skyrocket like neo, or people are just buying these coins cheap from the whales dumping. Anyway, now is a great time to buy SAFEX! The team has worked hard and improved many aspects of their work already, including communication with the community through for example video updates!

Hi peeps,

I've been reading up a lot on digibyte lately. I think it's undervalued but to understand the market proposition better, I would like to ask you, the community this. What is the unique selling point of digibyte?

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL] [SAFEX] Safe Exchange Coin [website www.safex.io] on: August 17, 2017, 09:03:42 PM

I want to comment on point number 3, having mods censor stuff will get this project nowhere. We don't need mods to censor stuff, we need people that communicate with the dev team that can inform the community and argue with the dev team about the issues raised by the community.

I disagree. When people are making racist comments, directly insulting others, spreading FUD, spamming, and posting porn in the channel, its time for mods.

Ah, I did not know the slack (or some other boards) are that bad. Yes, then I agree.

The wallet has been downloaded and compiled by several people on Windows. They downloaded an incomplete version and began testing it. They reported that the wallet was gorgeous, had great art and graphics, and looked clean. But, as expected, the wallet had errors, as it was incomplete. It also was not compiling on OSX last I heard. So it appears there is work to be done, and they are rightfully not saying exactly how long they think it will take to finish resolving and testing. Doing so could just cause more people to get upset if they miss a pre-set deadline again.

If they are testing on all major platforms, it could take longer than they expect. That is how it is for even the most experienced dev teams when building in-house products for various platforms. Anyone in the gaming/software/etc industry knows this.

Thanks to the delay, smart folks get a chance at much lower prices, which once again spreads the money from weak/short hands to longer/stronger ones. I keep hoping for the old days prices of 200-240sat, but it looks like the support will not allow that right now.

For me, this project is still as close to a sure thing in terms of getting a large return on my initial investment as you are going to get in crypto. Look at the price. CHEAP, and has already shown legs on the slightest news.

Look at how beautiful the product (wallet design) is now. I cant wait to see what the marketplace is going to look like. People will want to use it, and when they do, I and many others will have lots and lots of SAFEX sitting in a wallet collecting our CHILLE dividends. Yay!

Patience, patience, patience is the only way to go if you want to see the money grow.

In terms of what myself and many other folks would like to see, based on repeated requests in SLACK and on the boards:

1. Receive clear information on plans for CHILLE development beyond what current roadmap says.

2. In regards to CHILLE development: Will there be any other devs/coders brought on board to work on CHILLE? Again and again, I see that people are concerned that the CHILLE marketplace could take much, much longer than anticipated, since it is a much larger project than the wallet., and that has already been delayed multiple times.

3. Designate a few additional Mods for the boards and SLACK channel. The FUD and immature asinine nonsense that the lower denominations are spewing is ruining the community vibe big time, and absolutely is having a negative effect on investor confidence levels.

4. Videos. Weekly videos of production, giving personal/ verbal updates detailing production progress. Communities LOVE these, and it brings your reputation up *a lot*. I know Daniel said the would be releasing one soon talking in regards to the wallet, which is great. The more of these there  are out there, the more likely people will invest in the project.

Those seem to be the major points of interest right now. I look forward to seeing the wallet, and hearing more about CHILLE in the future.

I want to comment on point number 3, having mods censor stuff will get this project nowhere. We don't need mods to censor stuff, we need people that communicate with the dev team that can inform the community and argue with the dev team about the issues raised by the community.

So much FUD everywhere about SAFEX.
I mean, the team has been unprofessional with their deadlines and communication lately and the wallet is taking damn long, but these factors are not realistic for a 33% decrease in the value of the project. 400 sats is probably the best value you can get now, not sure if a whale is driving these prices down to buy more or to sell more. All the panic sellers are out of SAFEX already (except for maybe a whale with a lot of coins), the HODLers can drive the price back up by just not putting in low sats sell orders. It can't be that the wallet will take a lot more time as the first deadline was last week. Probably this is the best time to buy in (maybe a little lower, depending on when the wallet will drop).
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GNT] Golem Project - The world’s most powerful supercomputer on: August 13, 2017, 09:45:54 PM
Gnt will be huge!!!!

can you explain how it will be?

there are many competitors available for GNT, who promises something good

Read white paper man 👍🏼
But he is right. GNT has a lot of competitors. For example RLC or SONM. Those projects are also strong and solid. I believe in GNT, but you should not be blind.

Actually SONM has 250 pages on bitcointalk right now, while the topic is much newer and this thread only has 90 pages. Our community needs to give more support to the team and help more in pushing the project in the right direction if we want to keep up with the SONM hype

Hi peeps,

The roadmap on the site does not seem to give any time indicators. When is the webwallet + API expected to drop?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL] [SAFEX] Safe Exchange Coin [website www.safex.io] on: August 13, 2017, 08:51:01 PM
Hi community,

Normally I lurk around these forums instead of posting, however i want to comment on the SAFEX developments the past week.
The wallet would drop at the 9th of august and at the moment there still is no wallet. If there are issues regarding the wallet and these need to be resolved for a good launch, fine we understand, as long as the team communicates with us.
That is the keyword 'communication'. I don't expect Daniel to post an update every minute, or the SAFEX team for that manner, but you're past your deadline, keeping us up to date is key when your team is past the deadline! A message like 'Alrightly, we're synchronizing our bitcoin blockchain node to service the wallet, once that's finished we can release. We will be in touch 🙇' which is 141 characters and 24 words long is barely enough information to post in a 12 hour interval. Nevertheless, the next post was 48 hours later. How much time did it take Daniel to type this? I would say a minute or so.  By the way, why is the twitter of Daniel the only 'open' way to see updates on the progress of SAFEX? They have a PR & Marketing Manager for godsake named 'Milan Radosavljevic'. Why doesn't he post anything on the SAFEX twitter account, on these forums, on the official website or any other easily findable source? These are mistakes that could be easily avoided, now people are losing faith in this project, not because you didn't make your deadline, but because of the lack of communication towards the community while missing your deadline.

I hope the SAFEX team learns from this.
