I think it calculates based on difficulty.  The more people mining, the smaller chance of you getting coins as a miner.  Then it compares the value of those coins in the open market- ie: exchanges like bter or btc-e

Right now CNC coins and feathercoins are the most profitable to mine.  Instead of mining, I'm just buying coins on bter. I got scammed by wikileaksdude.  Bought from another that did go through, but there are a lot of scammers.  So I think I;ll stick to the exchanges.  my personal theory is that LTC and scrypt based coins will out-do bitcoin in appreciation

Please refund my .5 BTC or complete the transaction.  Show the world that you earned your senior status.  I will follow all of your posts from now on if you do not do this, and make sure the world knows what a piece of bottom feeding piece of shit you are.  Time to get a new name, friend.

Want to buy CNC.  No scammers please.  I prefer escrow.

10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin, the Silver to BitCoin Gold? on: May 03, 2013, 04:56:32 AM
Like anything, new technology supplants the old.  The old might stick around( like Ford), but few people will be driving them, relatively speaking.  I think Scrypt currencies are where the action's headed.  Miners are pointing their rigs there, leaving those who were lucky enough to get ASIC rigs to unload their loot onto the public.  By then the majority of miners will have switched to FTC.  I think this goes a way to explain the drop in BTC price today, honestly.

Bitcoin- the silver to Litecoin gold

Am interested if you will escrow.  Have BTC

What did it cost ya?  What are you going to mine first?  http://coinchoose.com/
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [WTB] Wanting to buy Anysize Butterfly Labs Hardware on: May 03, 2013, 04:49:04 AM
Doubt you will get a BFL, huge backlog.  By the time they ship, they will be worthless.  Can't use them to mine Litecoin, either.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CHN / CNC Wallet for Mac?? Alternatives?? on: May 03, 2013, 04:45:19 AM
You can install virtualbox , then install ubuntu to run in virtualbox.

Then install the linux version of CHN on ubuntu

Or you can install windows XP or 7 on your mac in virtualbox.  Me?  I just got out an old laptop to create the wallet.  I use a mac too.  Frustrating.
15  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: May 03, 2013, 04:32:21 AM
Actually, if you aren't already knee deep into mining, the best thing is probably just to buy coins, which is what I'm doing.  Instead of buying a rig, I put that money into buying coin.  Better investment.  It's like an arms race around here.  I'm too far behind.  You place your bet with the coin that has the greatest future.  I think bitcoin will always be around- like Ford.  But you will have options.  i think Litecoin clones are the future, and its a matter of whoever gets there first.  Like .com mania of 1998, people will probably get behind CNC coins just because of the name.  Adding a .com to your name and going public equaled $40 million in 1999.

You can mine with a GPU in Litecoin- no ASIC for litecoin- yet.  More profitable to mine feather coin, actually.  http://coinchoose.com/
17  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: May 03, 2013, 04:25:28 AM
Sad thing is with competitors delivering product, the game is over for bitcoin mining, basically.  If you aren't already in, you may as well mine Litecoin, which is I think exactly what is happening with the bitcoin price- miners switching their gear to litecoin, selling bit coin.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Want to try Bitcoin on: May 03, 2013, 04:22:29 AM
I believe that part of the reason for Bitcoin being down is miners switching rigs to Litecoin sinc ASIC
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Want to try Bitcoin on: May 03, 2013, 04:21:40 AM
Anyone mining for Chinacoins?  CNC
