Are you sure this apply to cryptocurrencies? Here in Czech we have very similar law - no capital gain taxing after 1 year hold. The problem is, cryptocurency gains can't be declared as capital gains - it falls into category "other gains" in czech law.

What a FUD thread! Minining profitability has nothing to do with coin success rate nor with it's popularity. Profitability may differ slightly (until difficulty adjust it), but tends to oscillate arround 1:1 equlibrium, that's perfectly normal. For example PPC and DGB are currently also slightly more profitable to mine than BTC.

Of course it's possible. Price was in that range 14 days ago. It can go down as easily, maybe even faster. This is bitcoin afterall, anything can happen. But my guess is, it will go upward for a while and hit price slightly above 5k before weekend. Then there will be correction and my crystal ball says it will go down to 2.8k where I placed my buy order, lol. Another possibility is correction just after segwit activation - that"s the place where most traders who bought earlier because of segwit will sell.
