1  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Lottery Mining on: May 12, 2021, 05:09:11 PM
Is it even possible to lotto mine BTC on something like a newpac USB miner?  Just doing some rough math, it looks like it's more likely the Sun will explode before it finds a block.  So if not BTC, what other SHA-256 (that the newpac would be able to mine) would be worth lotto mining?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Minera v0.9.1] Your next mining dashboard - Antminer/CPUminer/CGminer/BFGminer on: August 19, 2019, 07:43:30 PM
New user.  I setup Minera using BFMiner and using solo.ckpool.org.  I'm also using an Avalon Nano miner.  (I set this up as a 'lotto' machine)

Minera shows it's logging into the pool and is mining.  However, when I check my stats on ckpool, its not showing anything.  I can plug the stick into my PC and run BFminer and it'll show on the pool.  What gives?  I've double, triple checked my user ID/BTC address -- everything is as it should be.

I've even tried turning off, "append JSON conf" in settings.  However, it looks like it still using the JSON (as you can see below) even though Minera says, "Miner will start with this syntax:
/usr/bin/screen -dmS bfgminer /var/www/minera/minera-bin/bfgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1FWFFjsqqoL6ZUq179dmt7stUgs5jEudwC -p x -S ICA:/dev/ttyACM0 --set-device ICA:baud=115200 --set-device ICA:reopen=timeout --set-device ICA:work_division=1 --set-device ICA:fpga_count=1 --set-device ICA:probe_timeout=100 --set-device ICA:timing=0.22 --api-listen
Warning you selected to not append the JSON conf."

This is from the log...

Please forgive if this has already been answered but I did look!  Can this be mined with a Bitmain A3 miner?
4  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 252 blocks solved! on: August 13, 2019, 03:21:17 AM
Thank you both!

I do see my stats now.  I just thought it was odd at first I didn't see anything after an hour.

And thanks for letting me know about the other site not updating.

Does my formula look correct though (except for the difficulty being off?)

(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / 9,985,348,008,059) * 5,000,000,000)) / 60 / 60 / 24 = 99,276,383

1 in 99,276,383 chance every 20 mins?
5  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 252 blocks solved! on: August 12, 2019, 10:00:40 PM
I'm running an ooooold stick miner running at 5Gh/s.  How long does it take for it to register my address when checking my stats?  (Its been running for about an hour now)
This is what I'm using: cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1FWFFjsqqoL6ZUq179dmt7stUgs5jEudwC -p x

Also for calculating my chance at the "lotto", is this still a good formula to use?
(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / Difficulty) * Hashrate)) / 60 / 60 / 24

Using current difficulty of 6,379,265,451,411 (found at https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty) and 5Gh/s hash rate, does this sound right?
(2^256 / (((2^224 - 2^208) / 6,379,265,451,411) * 5,000,000,000)) / 60 / 60 / 24 = 63423968.8987

So a 1 in 63,423,969 chance every 20mins?

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / New Private Board on: April 20, 2018, 06:44:05 PM
I have started a new private board for all things Crypto. I'm limiting membership to 50 people initially. (number may increase or decrease) My goal is to create a safe space for people to come and share information that they otherwise may not want to post on an open forum (think of Bitcointalk, but much smaller and more intimate). I'm hoping to create a group of friends that are open to sharing and believe in the motto there is no such thing as a dumb question.

If you're interested in joining our Crypto family, please send an email to admin (at) thespot4.info

In your email, please answer the following questions:

1) How long have you been into mining?

2) What got you interested in mining?

3) What sort of mining do you do? (GPU, ASIC, mixed)

4) On what scale are you currently mining? (1 GPU, 10 Rigs of 12 GPUs, I have a warehouse full of rigs)

5) Finally, tell us more about yourself. What makes you think you'd be a good fit for this group?

I can't get ccminer alexis to work.  Anyone else having the same issue?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform on: March 05, 2018, 07:24:26 PM
Does anyone know of a way to add a 3rd miner?  I have a Threadripper and a mixed GPU system.  Since I have 1950x, I, of course, want to CPU mine.  Then I want to use Etash and Equihash to mine different coins. (Claymore and DSTM specifically)
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform on: March 02, 2018, 05:53:30 AM
I have a 1950x system and when I boot HiveOS it gets as far as starting Hive X server and doesn't go any further.  (The high resolution X window never opens).  Anyone else having this issue?

Anyone?

if the values are in API, we can add to app. let me know what you want add or what is important for you to see in app...
For example of profit, the user of your app would have to tell you what coin they are mining.  You could then use the hash rate from the API and data from some exchange, whattomine, etc to calculate estimate profit.  There might be a possibility for your app to guess at what coin is being mined via the wallet/pool settings w/o having to have your user manually enter what coin they are mining.

If you wanted to take it a step further, you could use the reported wattage and give an estimated profit taking that into consideration.

Thank you!

Is there any chance you can add things to the dashboard that Hive is currently missing such as estimated profits etc?  Seems like most of the data is available, it's just tying it all together.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform on: February 22, 2018, 05:49:40 PM
What crazydane and cloudhax are doing is WAY over my head. lol  I'm a 2 month noob to mining and I'm loving HiveOS.  I checked out Awesome miner and it does look, well.... awesome! lol

If I may, can I ask a few noob questions?

1) I'm understanding this correctly -- you set up your rigs with HiveOS and then you can monitor their productivity under Awesome miner?
2) If so, do you know of any good YouTube/blogs/etc that you can point me to a) learning how to even setup Awesome miner b) doing what you were just talking about?

Thanks!

BTW, when I grow up, I wanna be like you guys! Smiley

I agree with h311m4n.  If you have no debt or other obligations, do it.  Just make sure you have a good plan in place.

I'm fairly new to mining, however, I'm an experienced travel hacker.  There are tons of websites and pvt forums dedicated to the topic.  I've traveled the world (in 1st class) and stayed at some of the nicest resorts and hotels for free for years now.  If you could combine the two "hobbies", I think you'd do quite well.  Google Flyertalk and the blog frequent miler for a good place to start with all of that.  Beware, Flyertalk is huge and confusing to noobs! lol
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform on: February 21, 2018, 07:21:33 PM
The newer Nvidia drivers no longer support reporting power usage with 1050Ti's due to a known issue with the power reporting circuitry on those cards.
That sucks!  But thank you for solving that mystery.  I've searched the net for days now trying to find an answer!

Any ideas on how to guesstimate the sols/w on these?

The only idea I could come up with was:
1) Unplug all but one card.  Get wattage reading
2) Plug in card #2 and do a test on only it for sol/s.  Check wattage reading, calculate sols/w.
3) Wash and repeat by replacing card #2 with card #3

However, I'm tired already just thinking about doing that! lol

I hate asking questions that have already been answered, so I’ve spent several hours looking for an answer, but haven’t found one.

Here’s my question/problem…

I see that you can add a second miner by going to Rigs - > Clicking on the rig in question.

However, there isn’t an option to add a wallet to that 2nd miner.  From what I can tell, it uses the 1st miner’s wallet info.

I want to mine ETH and CRC.  I’ve got everything running on miner #1 for ETH and it’s working VERY well – THANK YOU!  But how do I use ccminer and use a different wallet so what I mine is going to the correct wallet address?

By the way THANK YOU for making the first 3 rigs free.  That’s quite generous compared to your competition.
