Yea is the service fee in addition to the electricity costs?
The service fee translates to $0.14/kWh... so if you are paying both service fee + electricity, then you are paying $0.24/kWh...

No ones interested so i'll make an offer $500?

They are $850 in stock through Canaan. Am I missing something?
They haven't sold direct to customers at that price since August -- your only option is a distributor, which are all sold out. At best, you can pre-order an Avalon 8 for March delivery. I think even those pre-sales are sold out. I am not trying to charge $3k like some people but would like to recoup my investment + small profit for the fact that they are rare. I'm not trying to gouge the community though.

Tim is ok I suppose, he is just complaining about over pricing trend. I'm not a fan of ASICs but I remember Avalon from days when I was looking for an alternative to Bitmain and became so disappointed, I'm sure they have not changed and won't change ever. So, Idk, but how is it possible to buy a miner from a failed brand, with half of the hash power of a s9 and almost the same power consumption , without psu without controller board (!) for a price comparable to s9? No, I don't think Tim is the one who needs a bit help Your first comment "not a fan of ASICs" is likely why you don't understand. For the small miners, you won't have 10 spare S9 hash boards lying around to swap out as boards fail. I'd take the 25-35% lower hashrate to never have to ship back units for repairs. As BTC prices rise, the extra hash rate gets washed away as well.

Hi all, I'm looking to sell Canaan Avalon 741s that I received about a month ago. Units are in great working condition and only cosmetic scratches on the casing. I'm now paying a commercial rate of about $0.15/kWh so I'm looking to sell. Happy to use escrows from this thread ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0). Please PM me or post below. Thanks [Update Jan 29th] 12 working / "like new" units remaining @ 0.16 BTC / unit -- Includes AUM3 cables, generic Raspberry Pi 3 controller (i.e. official firmware but not the Canaan case) but NO power supply. Shipping included to USA. Can include a 1600W Chinese PSU for $125 (tested and work "like new" on 240V -- have not tested on 120V) Total for Avalon 741 + controller = 0.16 BTC which includes ground shipping in USA
[Update Jan 31st] 8 units remaining
[Update Feb 1] 6 units left [Update Feb 2] 5 units left[Update Feb 3] All sold!

I know there is a co-location thread, but it seems like we are left with mostly (1) questionable hosts ie Gigawatt (2) prices well above $100 per S9, etc
Is there much interest in alternative options for co-location at ~$90/month ? I am looking at leasing some space to do a small scale farm (~100-200 machines) and wanted to see what the appetite would be for another hosting option in the US.

The left wall of my garage is a shared wall with the master bedroom. It's currently insulated with fiberglass insulation. I can still hear the miners through the wall.
Has anyone tried soundproofing a garage wall where you have miners in the garage? I am looking at Roxul Safe'n'Sound, Green Glue, etc and wasn't sure if any of these products worked.

I always offer them to take a demo model and run a long thread. After 2-3 weeks use I return it or buy it.
I really wish they would send you one to test out. Did you already contact them and did they reply or just straight up ignore you? The emails are above. To repeat less then a day of email contact and they opened presales two weeks early. Read those emails and draw your own conclusion as to why they opened preorders early. Also draw your own conclusion as to why they told me pay for the demo up front. That seems questionable at best. They stand to make $10-100mm/year and can't sacrifice $500 (likely unit cost?) to etablish a reputation in the community? I've been a fan of your reviews and purchased $10k worth of Avalon 741 (great units btw) based on your recommendation. Syan seems penny wise and pound foolish.

I'm in same boat as you... I have a Kraken Tier 4 verified account + business checking account. The names on both accounts match and all the documentation should be in order. I'm able to deposit BTC / sell BTC, but when I go to withdraw USD I receive the error "Failed" with no explanation.
I've opened tickets with support and tried escalating on Reddit / Bitcointalk but have not heard a single word from Kraken.
Let me know if you resolve it. I have never done a withdraw with Kraken but they verified all my details so it should work. I called my bank and they did not see an attempt to wire on their end. Have you got it to work before? I have not... I am opening an account with GDAX now and starting verification process... At this point, whoever can start making this happen first will get my business from here on out

Hmm anyone got any suggestions. I am Tier 4 and I did a small withdraw of a few thousand to make sure I set up everything correctly but both times I tried this the bank wire failed?
What country are you based in? If you are based in Europe, you shouldn´t have any problems making a SEPA withdrawal. In other countries, getting a successful wire transfer can be more difficult as you can read in previous posts of other posters. USA. Hmm anyone got any suggestions. What reason did they give you? Nothing yet I put a ticket in the other day. Confused if it is something I forgot I just got my account fully configured earlier this week for tier 4 and opened my business bank account maybe 2 weeks prior so everything should be valid. Still waiting on support ticket #708488... I have escalated here and using the reddit escalation link...
No issues getting money into Kraken, trading, etc. I am tier 4 verified... Go to withdraw, failure... no response from support... Does not make me feel good as a business having my money trapped at Kraken with no one to contact

I opened support ticket #708488 as my wire transfer failed within 10 minutes. Any way to fix?

A combination of the two should be pretty reliable. Solar is best during the day (for obvious reason) but wind power tends to pick up at night. For small use a vertical-axis turbine tends to be better than horizontal-axis, requires less wind just to get started and typically doesn't have to be as tall to capitalize on local air currents.
@Sidehack, do you have a recommendation on vertical axis turbine? I am in NW Indiana where we have 5-6 m/s average wind speed. I'm currently using about 15kW for mining and was starting to look at options for offsetting power bills.
