God, the nerve and laziness of people. GOOGLE IT.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Troubleshooting A 6 1080 TI Graphics Card Mining Rig on: December 26, 2019, 11:09:17 AM
I've been mining on a "budget" gamermax 1650w psu since late 2017, I have 5 of them, non of them have failed on me so far. Maybe I'm "lucky", but I never clean them, they're dusty af lol.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: On Building a 19 x 2080ti GPU Rig - Need input and suggestions on: November 23, 2019, 01:17:13 PM
I would split those GPU's into a few rigs. In my experience, 6 GPU+ rigs are a nightmare to maintain, unsuspecting bugs happen all the time.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Who ordered the AMD Radeon VII? Lets make a list of Miners / Hashrates / Coins on: June 04, 2019, 07:34:29 AM
Yep exactly. Though they are "cheap Chinese PSU", they are around 4 times cheaper than the equivalent wattage PSU, and have more cables suited for mining use.

Though cheap isn't always best in power supply situations! The best idea if you want cheap is to use commercial server psus and breakout boards, cos they're designed for the job and cheap as chips. They are noisy tho...

Speaking of PSUs, 2kw psu to run 8x Vega 7s per rig will be nice. There's the superflower 2000w platinum, which exists but I have no idea where to get it, and the 2200w evga platinum. No news from Evga since Jan 2018.

Gamemax do 2kw psu, but they are "cheap chinese" psu, and they are almost as loud as an asic (you won't believe it until you hear it).

Hey, I was searching around for PSUs that might be able to handle 5 or 6 GPUs.

I'm currently using Corsair HXi Series™ HX1000i for my 6x Asus GTX 1070 8GB OC rig, I realised the cables used to power up the gpus have 2x 8-pin connector but ofcourse the 1070 use only 1x 8-pin connector.
With all these 1070 gpus I've connected the power which leaves 1x 8-pin empty.

Do you guy's think I can use the same PSU;  Corsair HXi Series™ HX1000i or AX1600i to setup 5 radeon vii?

Just that after looking at my 1070 rig, there are plenty 2x 8-pin connectors to be used for 5x radeon vii setup... or am I missing something?

I'm using a 1650w psu and it powers 5 radeon vii's no problem so far.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wifi vs wired internet for the rig on: May 29, 2019, 11:33:46 AM
My current rigs are all using wired connection through wifi adapter. I am planning to move to use usb wifi adapter. The reason is to make rig more compact. Any suggestions from the community. My worry is that wifi connection may not be good due to proximity of GPUs. Any recommendation for the USB wifi adapter would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm using powerline adaptors for my rigs in the garage. Works great so far. It's basically internet down your power lines.

I would also count the resale value of the GPUs in the roi calculations, as they will still hold their value pretty well 2-3 years down the line. That being said, AMD cards might not be a good long term investment seeing monero changing algo and eth changing algo and going pos in the near future.

Has anyone tried voskcoin's vii settings? He's getting 89mh/s at 250w
8  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The winter mining setup on: January 01, 2019, 06:42:33 PM
I've been mining for over a year now and also enjoy the heat output in winter. But I have recently stopped because, call me paranoid but I feel like the air these machine puts out is affecting my health. And it might not be that far fetched considering how hot they get inside the boards and chips working 100% at all times.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ducting and Temp Control on: November 08, 2018, 06:33:03 AM
Also need to consider about the static pressure the 5" y splitter will create, and also those bends in the ducting. This will create alot of stress to the fans, might wear them out prematurely.
10  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My small (but growing) mining farm on: October 25, 2018, 08:07:17 PM
I’m landing second hand s9s for $250 shipped including psus and I’m at .067kwh moving to a new contract of .04kwh. Just because you make pennies a day off of s9s doesn’t mean everyone else does.

Ok, a dollar a day then? 250 days just to break even miner cost, assuming difficulty stays the same and miners don't break down (second hand units with no warranty). Not to mention the upfront costs to setup the infrastructure, aren't we talking about years to break even assuming all things sail smoothly that is. That is still a huge risk. I'm not here to argue, just here for insight, so chill out.
11  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My small (but growing) mining farm on: October 25, 2018, 07:55:50 AM
Well I mean you can call pennies a day profitable, but is it really worth the huge upfront costs? I'm genuinely curious how you do the numbers because I have lost a lot of money mining with asics, notably the inno d9, which I'll never roi because of the insane upgrade the upcoming whatsminer d1 will do. So I'm thinking of only mining bitcoin from now on...
12  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My small (but growing) mining farm on: October 25, 2018, 06:09:10 AM
Why are you still hogging S9's when new generations of MUCH more efficient miners are already rolling out? How in the world are you going to roi with all those money spent building infrastructure for s9's t9's possibly mining at a loss, or at most pennies a day?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Whatsminer DCR 44TH on: October 09, 2018, 07:52:21 PM
Let me know if anyone wants these, I can do great bulk deals. Considering opening up a group buy to get price down.

I'm interested, count me in!

Curious to hear everyone's Hashrate poolside and daily rewards at this point. I'll start.

D9 (1st batch)
FW: 20180602.swu
UI: 2.3Th/s
Pool: Coinmine.pl
24hr Poolside Hash Rate: 2.27Th/s
Daily Rewards: 0.14 DCR

I'm still getting the random reboots, been online 11hrs, and crazy reading on fan speed of 255% on Performance mode.

Is anyone getting the advertised 2.4Th/s?

The daily reward seems to be ok, I get around that but with 2.04TH/s, on efficient mode because it is boiling hot here in the UK. I'm on f2pool. I get 2.5 TH/s on performance mode, june firmware. My reboots seems to be much milder now, around 2 days or more before resets.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / iBeLink™ DSM7T Blake256 Miner with 7 TH/s Hash Rate on: July 27, 2018, 09:26:00 AM
"The iBeLink™ DSM7T is now available at our iBeLink.co website. The shipping date is Aug 5, 2018 to Aug 10, 2018. The new iBeLink™ DSM7T has the following specifications: Hash Rate: 7 TH/s ±5%. Power Consumption: 2100 W ±5% (at the wall, with 25°C ambient temp)."

Just saw this on reddit. Looks pretty sweet with the revised price and increased hash rate.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer soundproofing (again) - gypsum+MLV on: July 13, 2018, 01:57:29 PM
Alot of the noise will come from the fans intake / exhaust points. Insulated ducting or those silencing ducting on both ends will significantly reduce noise level.

Quick question, what's the average uptime on your D9's? I'm getting around 18 hours - 2 days between resets, not sure if it is normal behaviour.

Same is happening for me! It automatically restarts, I think that is the issue with my A4+'s too. It keeps restarting all of a sudden. For D9, one of my boards stopped working automatically as well. Had to send it to China for warranty. Waiting to hear from them.

Yeah I emailed support, they said it shouldn't reboot unless it runs into some kind of problem. But there could be hundreds of possible problems not just the miner itself. Did you buy your D9 direct from them? It will take weeks if not months sending there and back and that's downtime = loss. How do you find the customer service from Innosilicon?

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone here ever purchase ASICs from Miningtore5111 in China Before? on: June 29, 2018, 07:24:59 AM
Looks like it's one of the "trusted vendors" on the asic miner value website. I would still be very cautious until someone have bought from them and confirm?

They're selling at $4600 for two units, so $2300 a pop. Earning is around $24 a day, so break even in a couple of months. Why is everyone saying they won't make their money back?
You're better off buying actual coins than mining.

I've heard this plenty of times, and yet people don't seem realise you can get burned either way. Chances are, maybe even harder with buying coins. Just a month ago decred hits $118 and now it is around $73, so around a 40% drop. Some coins dropped even hard like nano a whopping 80% from just a month ago. At least with asics you get a product which produces value and has resale value (anticipate the marketplace, you should sell it wayyy before it becomes a door stopper, duh). Point is, we're mouse either way and we got to play smart and constantly adapt. I'm thinking of buying second batches when prices drop just like now with the D9 and the market is not yet fully saturated with them miners. Then mine the sh*t out of it, hodl the coins mined hope it will appreciate in value and all whilst monitoring second hand prices. When the time is right (not when it becomes a door stopper, so let's say around $1000-$1500), sell it, and move on to another miner.

It's good to buy coins, and mine, to diversify and hedge against market crashes.

"You should sell it wayyy before it becomes a door stopper, duh" <--- This guy, smdh! Yeah... we're all just idiots trying to help you. You asked a question and seem to not like the answer. We are telling you the market is already saturated with DCR miners, more being added every day and other companies will be adding to it very soon. Your logic consists of alot of variables that sound good in theory however doesn't add up in reality but hey it's your money, do what you want and you'll find out soon enough on your own but don't say you weren't warned. Your head is in the clouds - good luck with that.

"You should sell it wayyy before it becomes a door stopper, duh" It's me trying to be funny/sarcastic, seems it was perceived the wrong way. Well I ask the question as a curiosity I suppose, and to gain new insight. Just thought it is refreshing to suggest a possible solution/scenario rather than just stating the obvious/problem and no real solution whatsoever. "Your logic consists of alot of variables" Of course there are variables and risks involved, in any investments/decisions, as in all things in life right?
