1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ghash.io is becoming SHOCKINGLY AGGRESSIVE NOW, closing in 45% on: January 09, 2014, 09:39:48 AM
I would not be worried about an honest pool breaking 50% for a short period of time but there is evidence that ghash.io is not an honest pool.

Double-spending for example:

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The most undervalued crypto [FRANKO] on: November 29, 2013, 06:56:47 PM
This is interesting, since the huge litecoin boom the past few days it seems all altcoins have been riding a wave -- deserved or not.  Once everything settles only the coins offering true advantages will thrive and I like what I see with Franko.

Sadly I overlooked Franko in the past because I associated it with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Franco.  The downside of being a historian I suppose  Undecided

Who said that it will settle?

Well, if altcoins stay this volatile they will be useless as a currency so we should all hope for a settling  Tongue

It is more a matter of wanting to know how to do it.

It's a bit silly to know how to use cgminer and pool mine and still don't know how to solo mine.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Does anyone have a link to a guide on how to start solomining scrypt-based coins on: May 05, 2013, 10:55:29 PM
I have just been introduced to cryptocurrency several weeks ago and have finally gotten a feel for cgminer and the current exchanges/etc.

My next project is trying to set up a solo mining rig since it seems like almost all the CHNcoin pools are getting DDoSed daily.

If anyone has a good guide that I could read through and learn how to set up a scrypt based mining operation without pools I would be one happy noob  Grin

Thanks.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Need some help for cgminer error on: May 05, 2013, 05:46:46 AM
I have been using cgminer for a couple days after weening myself off different GUI miners and have started running into a problem.  I have searched around and have not found a solution yet.

I am getting the following error either on startup or during mining "Can't create UNIX socket".
If I get the error on startup it wont even connect to the pool server (I have tried several) and if i get it during mining it will auto-reject blocks.

I have had the same issue with cgminer v.3.1.0 and v.2.11.3.
I have the latest catalyst drivers and app sdk.

I can provide a screenshot if needed.

Thanks in advance for any help!
