1  Economy / Computer hardware / Selling 12x Sapphire Vega 64 on: May 07, 2018, 04:29:33 AM
Hi,

I am from india and want to sell my 12 pcs of Sapphire Vega 64 air cooled edition. Currently residing in Mumbai.
My cards are only 1 month old and 8 of them are unused and still packed because PSU availability within budget was a concern. Also the remaining 4 were  hardly used for 10-12 days that too in an inconsistent manner due to lack of ample cooling arrangements.
I have the GST bill of 72000 /pcs and the price is negotiable to a pleasant extent for the buyers !

You can find the current valuation of the cards below as they are all above 1 lakh and starting from 90000 INR.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / HOW TO SOLO MINE XMR ON CAST MINER ? on: February 13, 2018, 10:37:04 PM
Hi,

Im currently using Cast miner and want to try SOLO mining for XMR.
Have chosen the pool monerominepool.com and using CAST miner 0.8.
Unlike other miners (wolf/xmrstak) Cast has a simple config file, therefore i want to gain some knowledge from cast miner users on solo mining as to what should i enter in the config file to SOLO mine.
I specifically need inputs related to cast miner config.

Thanks !!!

On a different note, it is CRAZY how huge the #1 miner is on Nanapool. 2000GH/s hashrate  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

https://xmr.nanopool.org/account/4GdoN7NCTi8a5gZug7PrwZNKjvHFmKeV11L6pNJPgj5QNEHsN6eeX3DaAQFwZ1ufD4LYCZKArktt113W7QjWvQ7CWCVHbnzdvF8FG9G3RZ

Check this guy, he has 698 miners online and each miner giving about 3000h/s avg.
Assuming the person/entity is using 4-6 card mining rigs, then math say he has an empire of 5000-6000 cards running on monero  Shocked INSANE !!!!!!!!!!

Oh and the top one probably would be either genesis or some other big mining whales  Roll Eyes Just an assumption !

Each card has peaks and valleys.  In a farm some will peak while the others valley.  Impact of a single card or rig has is lost in the sea.  If you had 1000 cards running then the line would look flat due to the scale of the shares reported.

All about average.  Your rigs appear the same as the mega farms if you zoom out enough.  Even Claymore's sporadic income would average to a flat line graph.

I see ! Basically its d quantity. thanx for the knowledge. Smiley

It's called the law of large numbers. The hashrate you see converges to the average expected hashrate.

nicehash ...just nicehash
and you should do the double with your vegas, shame on you

Besides im already mining @ double hashrate.. 6125.5 is the result from just 3 vegas  Grin

I even took it beyond limits any youtuber has taken but with error though. The below figures were just during a test session.

Hi All,

Outa curiosity i wanted to know how on earth the top miners from Nanopool and other mining pool have such a high+stable hashrate bar when mine being so wacky mountains. I understand for such high hashes are basically they are big mining farms where 1000+ cards and asics are running but what about the stable line which they have and i lack. Cry

Top Miners

My Miner

I also wonder that they too have fluctuations in their hashes and share submissions like i have between miners but yet how can they have a stable line. Huh
Im currently minning xmr using 6 vegas 64's and hashing @ 6125.5 h/s constantly (2055+2045+2030)=Rough figure. Yet its a mystery for me how mine isn't stable. I just want to have a better clarity and knowledge on this phenomena. Cheesy

I believe that most of the people here did not find the best way of contact with this supplier which is talking directly on whatsapp. I've ordered from them 2 times and everything went smoothly both times, there may be some problems with the WIRE transfers and that is because they get so many and they need to check them manually, but giving them the reference transaction number cleared that out pretty fast. I have talked to them on whatsapp and they seemed to be very helpful and offered genuine interest towards you as a customer and cared about shipment issues which is a lot more than we can say for the actual parent companies of these miners sometimes. They even agreed to switch one of my orders for something else, I wonder how many miner sellers accept that.
They are a legit company.

U shed some valuable info, however 80% of people don't sail the smooth current when it comes to interaction with these suppliers. Im happy your trade was a pleasant one. In my case they did not entertain me even though there wasn't any impolite discussion between us still they seldom ever contacted me after i spoke of negotiation.
Moreover every person gave me a different price that left me with a doubt.

Hi. I am having weird Socket Error on Cast XMR, when trying to run it on Nicehash pool (cryptonight.usa.nicehash.com:33355).
No such errors on Claymore or XMR Stak, but I have low or unstable hash rate with these, hence I want to try Cast XMR.
I am only pointing Cast XMR to the server and wallet.
I would appreciate any ideas.

Share the snapshot of the error and your config for clarity.

  • Monereo (XMR)
  • Bytecoin (BCN)
  • DigitalNote (XDN)
  • Intense (ITNS)
  • Electroneum (ETN)
- Fastest miner for AMD Radeon RX Vega GPU series (more then 2KHash/s)
- Optimized cores for RX Vega Blockchain driver
- RX Vega Blockchain driver detection
- Multiple GPU support for upto 8 Vega GPUs
- Monitor temperature and fan speed of each GPU
- Full pool support
- Nicehash support
- Remote http access for statistics in JSON format
- only 1.5% dev fee

Requirements

  - Windows 8/8.1/10 64 bit
  - AMD Radeon RX Vega 56/64 GPU with at least 8GB RAM
  - or AMD Radeon RX 480/RX 580 GPU with a least 4GB RAM
  - For about 80% higher hash rates the ReLive Edition Beta for [Suspicious link removed]pute Driver Version 17.30.1029 has to be installed

Version History

Cast XMR Version 0.8 (2017/12/14)

  - kernel optimizations result in subtle performance improvements
  - --fastjobswitch option (experimental) to force fast switching to new jobs. When enabled the GPUs will switch to the new job within less then 100ms. This improves the effective hash rate by 1 to 5% as nearly no GPU performance will be wasted on calculating outdated shares anymore. The drawback is a slightly lower displayed hashrate as while switching no hashes are calculated.
  - improved support for more then 8 GPUs
  - support for Radeon RX 470/RX 570 (Polaris) added
  - --forcecompute option to force kernel for compute mode on Polaris (RX470/570/480/580) GPUs. In the Radeon Settings GPU Workload has to be switched to 'Compute'. This option is available in Crimson 17.10.2 (or later) driver and reaches nearly the same performance on Polaris based GPUs as with the Blockchain driver.
  - openCL platform is auto detected if --opencl is not specified
  - --nonicehash option to disable nicehash support
  - nicehash support will automatically disabled if more then 8 GPUs are used. Otherwise search space could be exhausted to early and the GPUs search in overlapping nonce ranges.

Cast XMR Version 0.7 (2017/11/29)

  - network and job status added to current statistics
  - remote access to get current status at http://127.0.0.1:7777 in JSON format (enable with --remoteaccess)
  - command line option to specify number of reconnects to pool (default 100) before giving up (set with --reconnects n)
  - fix for nicehash to support upto 8 GPUs (before only 4 were possible)

Cast XMR Version 0.6 (2017/10/27)

  - improved queue sync which results in an 0.1% higher average hash rate
  - experimental support for Radeon RX 480/580 GPUs added
  - pessing 's' key prints the current statistics
  - count outdated and invalid shares separate
  - fixed random crash when quitting app
  - bugfix: invalid command line arguments did hang app

Cast XMR Version 0.5 (2017/10/19)

  - support for multiple Vega GPUs. Specify multiple GPUs comma separated with the -G switch like "-G 0,1,2,3"
  - monitor temperature and fan speed for each GPU
  - subtle performance improvements in core

Cast XMR Version 0.4 (2017/10/13)

  - performance optimizations result in 1 - 2% higher hash rates
  - reduced dev fee to 1.5%

Cast XMR Version 0.3 (2017/10/10)

  - performance optimizations result in 5 - 10% higher hash rates
  -  breaking the 2 KHashes/s barrier with working overclocking settings for RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56

Cast XMR Version 0.2 (2017/09/27)

  - performance improvement result in 1% higher hashrates
  - Improved support for RX Vega 56 (now goes faster then a Vega 64 !?)
  - Detection if Blockchain driver is installed
  - Fix for Sikka and Intense pools

Cast XMR Version 0.1 (2017/09/22)

  - Initial Release

How To

cast_xmr has a command line interface. For a minimal configuration run:

cast_xmr -S [pool server] -u [username or wallet address]

For a complete list of configuration options run:

Is there a way to configure payment id and email in the miner, if yes how because i searched the entire web but couldn't find any info on this.
These settings are important for authenticity and configuring min payouts in some of the pools. Eg : Nanopool.

Please advice.

Thanks.

Hey, nanopool is legit! Worst thing that can happen when sending coins to your wallet without ID is a long wait time.

Thnx for the update.
I too agree with the legitimacy of nanopool, im just paranoid for the risks of not using a payment ID while mining as cast miner does not supports it.
Will there be any other issues other then delays budy ? Have you tried without payment ID's ?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Cast Miner Concerns on: January 28, 2018, 04:56:40 PM
Hi All,

Im using cast miner 0.8 & nanopool for mining xmr. Currently have made 0.24 xmr's but since the minimum payout in nanopool is 1 xmr im unable to figure out whether or not the payouts are safe & legit. Oh & btw im also using mymonero.com free monero wallet.
My querry is has anybody tried mining using cast miner & withdrawn xmr from nanopool WITHOUT USING PAYMENT ID and got his/her xmr's sent from nanopool ?
I googled alot but couldn't find any payment ID input options available in the cast miner. Except for cast almost every configurable miners have the option for payment ID.
I also read in many places that it is highly recommended to input payment ID for xmr transactions for its authenticity.

THANKS !!!!

I have a few thousand cards that run around 70c all day long. That is nowhere near the thermal limit and they will run for a long long time like that. I wouldnt worry about temps at all until they are breaking 80c

Agreed. Below 80c is fine for almost every card. However, we've found that Vega's will throttle when HBM gets too hot - even in the 70's can sometimes impact performance. Crazy, but it happens with these finicky cards was all I was trying to point out.

Good thing you said "almost" every card, because as you may or may not know every graphic card has it's own temp limits under a workload, older cards such as amd HD5000-7000 series, generally withstand higher temps limits better than newer ones because of the bigger fabrication process as opposed to today's newer cards which are made on much smaller fabrication process.

I know this because my first gpus I ever mined with were 2x hd5970, power hungry beasts back in the days, and guess what? 73-78°C core was nothing for them 24/7, mined for 2 whole years and later sold them in a fully working condition, bought one of my 390x some time later, died after 4 days of mining at those same temps.

few experts told me the same, it's the fab. process hence vegas and other new cards should be treated according to this input too...

70-75°C - 24/7??
and +15% plimit

I shed a tear when I read that ;( you're raping your cards...wearing them out hard...

I learned my lesson the hard way when one of my hawaiis died in the summer of 2016 while mining for 4 straight days around 70-75°C
thankfully only 1 card died... :/

Since then I'm taking card temps very seriously and precautions making sure my cards work in an adequate environment maybe even more than really needed just in case.

Don't ever run cards above at least 70°C core if you want them to live long and without any potential issues.
I usually run my fijis and hawaiis always around 63°C max.
right now in winter they are below 60°C at all times and that's with fans running at around 60-65% power
so yeah im obviously downclocking, -10% powlimit atm

you have no reason to be dissatisfied with the performance of your vegas especially in regard that you're running them 12 in a single rig

One of the rigs I have is a 6 card rig consisting of 4 fijis(nitro furys all) and 2 hawaiis, best performing and worst performing fijis differentiate about 4-5% in hashrates...it's pure silicon lottery man... there's nothing wrong with your cards hashing, if you apply 4-5% difference between your cards you get the same results you're complaining about.

on the other note, I noticed it's normal to have a little bit worse hashrate across all cards when running larger number of gpus in a pc than usual, although I can't confirm for sure by how much or at all... just my opinion.

so to answer your questions and few free tips:
1. Run your cards below 70°C since your clearly intend to have them working for 2+ years I suggest @ 63°C max. your cards will thank you in profits later as much as they live the longer the better

2. I don't own any vegas unfortunately but the general rule every serious miner applies is downclock/downvolt/tweak until you have stable temps, don't be driven by hashrates,
card temps are FIRST PRIORITY! then according to temps try to get as much hashes from your cards as possible!
Mining is a long-term game, remember that!

3. Probably, wouldn't know for sure, as far as I know less tweaks in wattman means more stable miner, set gpu settings in bat/config files.

Happy mining!

Thanx a ton for the advice bro, I was able to maintain my temps between 60-65 by cooling the ambience in ac. So basically are temps upto 65 degrees safe for the long run or yet you recommend to lower the temps by sacrificing the hashes (undervolting+underclocking) because i was able to achieve stable hashes of 2030+ with 65 degrees max under ac keeping the same old settings of +15% power.
However i am willing to bear the electricity charges for those tempting hashrates Tongue

keep the temps below 70°C(at low-mid 60's) at all times and you'll never have to worry about any potential problems, make sure your cards are properly ventilated(or a/c if you can but more electricity costs), make some more distance between them and lastly if needed sacrifice some hashrate (downclock/downvolt) whatever as long as you can maintain these "ok" temps!
what are few hashes more compared to the longer lifespan/health of your gpu?? is it really worth it? and to add, card scarcity is already bad as it is and you don't need yourself even more headache.

of course one more thing, never max your fan rpm, that's also dumb, you gain nothing setting your fans above 75% power(some people say 80%) than heavily wearing your fans out, so I suggest to set them max. 75% fan speed.

after you've made sure your cards are working in these conditions you won't have to worry about any component on your cards, occasionally clean that dust residue between the heatsink fins when you see it accumulating and pretty much that's it

thanx man that was really helpful Smiley Will surely work my card temps and hashes accordingly as i too agree that life span is more precious then hashes considering the scarcity and gpu price rise.

So basically are temps upto 65 degrees safe for the long run or yet you recommend to lower the temps by sacrificing the hashes (undervolting+underclocking) because i was able to achieve stable hashes of 2030+ with 65 degrees max under ac keeping the same old settings of +15% power.
However i am willing to bear the electricity charges for those tempting hashrates Tongue

what have you concluded @sumitc1989 ? Are they legit? Been dealing with sunny. Have you placed an order yet or found anything out? Any information is much appreciated.
Also, what are you looking to purchase?

Thanks.

My take would be don't waste your time because they like to keep us wait untill we are tired of nagging & when they reply you they paste a pre-made mail reply about their prices and their company. My context to highlight is that their interactions isn't like they came to hear you and answer you your querry. They do Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to your replies and if you try to negotiate firstly they will ignore and later they will deny or at the most lessen the offer by 50-100$ max that too if your budget and quantity sounds appealing to their sales !!

Rest about their legitimacy i cannot comment anything as they did not gave me a positive chat experience (price) so i did not proceed in digging deeper with company and product physical verifications.

Buddy they are very adamant with prices...simply not willing to negotiate at all. Additionally they least entertain you when you message even though they are online.
Lastly all of them gave me a different prices, i contacted 3 people and all gave me a different price also the prices they gave is available only for an hour or a day. They say in cryptocurrency market time is money, he/she(best source person) cannot offer me the same price after 1 hour passes by......weird ! Undecided

Eventually i ended up buying graphic cards for mining from local dealers and focusing to expand in GPU mining.
