The idea with the cold storage from Electrum is not bad at all...with a watching-only wallet and an offline one for signing the transactions.

I guess  I will go for it.

Thank you for feedbaks - was really helpful.

what do you mean by "If you have a spare usb drive, put the private key on there and put the coins on it"?

do you mean to let the bitcoins on my hot wallet electron and just to find out my private key for them, put it in a word file encrypted, copy it o the usb drive/CD/memory card and put it in my bank safe?

Because I don'gt want to let them on my hot wallet electron.. this is why I was thinking of a paper wallet.

There are also the option to transfer them from the hot wallet electron to a harddrive wallet - but I don't trust it somehow.

I guess I'll do like this:

- I will maintain my Bitcoin.de account due to their trustabillity and seriousness (they have 0,5% Fee)
- I will create an account by Kraken (0,3% Fee)

..and when I want to buy or sell smth I will check both of them to see where is the best deal.

so vanitygen (or the other one) should be downloaded on to an online computer, then the kit transfered to an offline computer and istall it there?

What do you mean by using it in safe mode? The computer to start it in safe mode?

I intend to have a paper wallet by printing the bitcoins on paper with QR-Code, Key and adress and store them in a safe I have by my bank.

I asked before and have to ask again because it is not clear to me: when transfered to paper wallet, the Bitcoins from the hot wallet electron dissapear?

what do you say about Kraken? I heard it works with euros and the fees are not that high.

It works also with Fidor Bank where I have my account. Is it trustable?

Of Course Bitcoin.de is one of the best and secure here in Germany and it has its preis for that. I find though the fees much too high...

Thanks jackg for your fast response.

I bought my coins from Bitcoin.de and indeed I paied a fee to them when I made the transaction.

Now I transfered my bitcoins from Bitcoin.de to my electrum hot wallet on my computer and they made me pay another fee: arround 15€ for 150€ transfered amount.

So I concluded that the exchange platforms make you pay buy buying somthing on their platform and by witdrawal to your/other personal wallet.

So it is realy like this that the above mentioned fees are much bigger then the fee I have to pay when I find someone private that I want to sed money to?  I mean from my hot wallet to his one...

And another thing; when I want to sell my cois from my hot wallet to put them back on the onlie platform: is there a fee again? is it a big one or is it the normal fee we pay to the miners for doing their job?

Marian
9  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum Hot Wallet to Cold Paper Wallet on: August 19, 2017, 03:29:39 PM

Hi,

I bought some Bitcoins from an exchange platform and now I transfered them to my hot wallet Electrum on my computer and intend to keep them as savings a couple of years.

To secure them, I would like to transfer them into a cold paper wallet: how can I do that? Is there a step by step guide for Electrum?

I read on the internet that I have to use this site to do that: www.bitaddress.org. Is it like this or there are other sites I can use?

Another question I have: when transfered to the paper wallet - the Bitcoins from Electrum dissaperar, right? How can I import them later again to Electrum: via "sweep option"?

Many thanks in advance for feedbacks!

BR,
Marian

Hi there,

I am new here and started my first aquisition of Bitcoin in august this year.
I use Electrum as a hot wallet and would like to know the followings:

-   How big is the fee I have to pay to transfer Bitcoin from Exchange to my Electrum Wallet? Is it bigger then the fee I have to pay when I want to transfer Bitcoin from my Wallet to another Wallet of a bitcoin buyer? In other words: the exchange platform (Like Kraken f.e.) earn its money when you try to export your Bitcoins from their exchange Wallet to your personal one, right?

Many thanks in advance for your Feedbaks!

Regards,
Marian
