1  Economy / Gambling / Re: BTCLottery.com for sale - auction at godaddy.com on: March 27, 2012, 06:26:07 PM
Well unfortunately, I can't pull stats from my current host (aplus.net) because for some reason the tool used to collect the stats was "incorrectly installed".  This goes back to when they changed their backend a few months ago.  So I can't give you any statistics from after August.

The only good news is that I have statistics up to and including august. The bad news is that I was really happy with the most recent version of btclottery, which was running September-November.

Either way, here is a screencap of the web stats up to August.  My only advertising was on this site and twitter:

2  Economy / Gambling / BTCLottery.com for sale - auction at godaddy.com on: March 21, 2012, 03:29:17 AM
Hi everyone...

I have been away for far too long, and I know many people have written me about the btclottery.com domain name.

Well it is now officially for sale, and is on auction at godaddy.com.  With the domain name, you will also get all the files I created for the site.  It is php/html for the most part.  It's your decision whether to use the system i put together, or to use your own.  If you choose to use my system, I will gladly help you get a hang of what I was doing.

This auction also includes our twitter account, "@btclottery_com", which currently has 189 subscribers.

The auction is at godaddy auctions and you can view the btclottery.com auction page here:

https://auctions.godaddy.com/trpItemListing.aspx?&miid=66902966

The auction ends on 3/27 at 7pm (PDT).
Let me know if you have any questions!

There were no winners in this week's Pick-3 drawing...
- The Winning number is 4-8-2

We are closing our doors.

I really wanted to keep this going, but it doesn't seem to be catching on, and due to the low numbers of bets, it's statistically harder for me to announce a win.

Thus I feel like I could better spend my time working on other projects/websites.

I really did enjoy running this site, and even paying out btc to winners. I wish there were more.

As a gesture of good faith that all of you entrusted in me, I have donated all player-sent / unwon bitcoins (5.6 btc, the other 20 btc in the prize pool was seeded in by me to get the games going) to The Humane Society of the United States through Bitcoin-Charity and the bitcoin transaction for that donation is viewable here.

If you still have bitcoin lottery fever, please don't hesitate to visit my friend at bitlotto.com, who was very helpful to me when I was getting started here. He's a good guy and honest as it gets.

Lastly, this website, and also btcmatch.com, my previous url for this site, are both for sale. Please contact me if you would like to purchase them. Included will also be my twitter account, @btclottery_com Thanks Smiley

After our short technical glitch (i.e. forgot to pack our wallet on our trip), we are back in business with a new Pick-3 game! This week's betting address is 1DMAEfAiyANjxtnnKcGQapDRZtuTUbEdti, and betting can begin immediately. Our prize pool is 22 BTC as of this update.

Big thanks to the two of you beautiful anonymous people who sent in donations to our donation address. It drives us to know there are those of you out there kind enough to send BTC...

We are starting this week's game slightly late, but want to keep our schedule going forward on track, so like the other games, this game's betting will end at 11:00 PM EST this coming Sunday, and the drawing will take place upon the solving of the first full block on Monday morning, 10/24.

Good Luck and thanks for coming back to BTCLottery.com!

There were no winners in this weeks drawing! Full results can be found here:
http://www.btclottery.com/results/09262011.php

So I have an unfortunate bit of news this week. I am out and about on business, and will not be back home until roughly 10/21, and while I packed all my clothes, and brought my laptop and website code, I forgot to pack my gosh darn bitcoin wallet!! As a result, I cannot set up a new bitcoin address for this week's new drawing, nor can I do so again until I get home!!

I fully apologize to all of you, this week we sold 20 tickets and things are getting more exciting each week. The current prize pool is 22 BTC, for the record, and when I get home and bring btclottery.com back to life, the prize pool will still be 22 btc and we will continue things where we left off..

My sincerest apologies,

boss (at) btclottery (dot) com

Alright, I've made some adjustments.  I've lowered the payouts, and raised the bet size to .1 BTC.  If this does begin to raise the prize pool over time, I will definitely bring back min/max bets, to encourage a little more action.  Thanks for your input!  All the changes are live, and considering no one has purchased any tickets for the current game, I don't feel like I'm changing the rug under anyones feet...

Thanks again Smiley
12  Economy / Gambling / Re: btcLottery Results Thread on: September 12, 2011, 05:51:18 AM
I'm a dumbass.  I'm player #34, with the note "Original bet of .1 was over the max."

I misread the min/max.  Please  keep the .08 BTC.  I can't even buy a soda for that much, and I'm happy to tip a game operator .49 cents USD.

I guess, looking at it now, I'm surprised that the min/max are so low.  Looking at the payouts you posted, I'd probably not play again for such small amounts.

I suggest you increase the amounts by 10x.   5 BTC win would be much better than 0.5, and does anyone really object to betting 0.1 BTC?

Thanks!

First off, thanks for the tip Smiley

As for the min/max, this is where my heart is torn.

I would love to do .1 for a bet, BUT, if someone were to bet .1 and hit the big prize, the Strait, which pays out 500:1, I would be screwed.  I would then have to fork out 50 btc, and I'm no miner, so I don't have 50 btc to my name.

Thus, I purposely put my own 20btc in to start it, and set the maximum bet to [prize pool / 1000] so that In the event that someone does actually hit the big one at the max bet, it only takes half the prize pool, and it's something I can recover from...

Alright, I'm thinking out loud here.
I suppose I could get the min bet to .1 btc.
However I would have to:
1) Purchase some more btc. (or get a really generous early-investor/miner to volunteer some btc Wink )
2) Set the payout of the strait win to 250:1 (Some actual Pick-3 lotteries already pay this much), thus a win wouldn't completely wipe me out if the bets were set to .1 btc.
3) I've already eliminated the Match 1 win, which at 1:3 odds, was too easy and would stop any noticeable growth in the prize pool...

Are you guys ok with this?  I don't like changing the rules mid-game, but if you feel this would be a better way to go, I would be happy to give it a go...

Again, I'm not in this for the money, I really don't make anything doing this.  I just really like bitcoin and want to see it grow.

Hey Everyone!

So I just completely revamped btcLottery.com, and one of the things I wanted to do to get some traffic going amongst all of us bitcoin gambling sites is to start trading links around.

I have my site set up so that the "friends" links I have will be visible on every page of my site.  (I may have missed one or two, but I will try to correct that soon).

I played around with selling the space for 1 btc / month, but only one person contacted me about it.

I honestly think the better move is for all of us to share the love around and start linking to eachother with banners.

If this is something we all want to do, I would think that we should all strive to stick to some sort of standard size as well...?
Like maybe max width and height of 200px X 50px ?

What do you guys think?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=37185.0

All my banners are in there. Post yours (everyone. do it) and let's all link share. I'll start by putting btclottery's banner on my site at the bottom right now.

Thanks dude!  Just posted your ad on my site as well.  Been thinking about writing some kind of webring thing for all the gambling sites.  Spoke with the bitlotto guy about it a while ago too, how we could see a future of a solid group of us honest guys getting together to create some kind of caucus to represent the leading edge of gambling sites.  Anyway, thanks for the link! Smiley
20  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoinduit.com - Banner AD Design Contest! on: September 07, 2011, 01:13:27 AM
I'd to like to put my website forward for your advertising plan. (bit cheeky I know but you don't get anywhere without asking Tongue)

Basically I run www.bitcoinsreview.com a review website for bitcoin merchants/services/pools etc. I also run Bit-Syndicate, a bitcoin lottery syndicate. I'm also looking to expand into things. Just to note an advertisers banners would be shown across my whole network.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hey Noviz, how would I go about setting up btclottery.com on the syndicate?  Just revamped my whole site.  I've had a link to you for a while, but noone has ever rated my site Sad
Anyway, yeah, btclottery is now a weekly Pick-3 lottery, very similar to the Pick-3's in most US states, and if you think it would be a good medium for your syndicate, I'm game if you have any questions...
