Thank you, everyone. So If I want to buy a BC & put it in my BC Core wallet, exactly how do I do that ?  Where does someone advertise they have one for sale ?  If I send them the dollars, how do I know I'll get BC in return?     Huh

Try ninja,    Thank you very much. Is there a tutorial on using the exchange & transferring coin in & out?  Do I pay a fee on the transfers into the wallet ?

Ranochigo,    I'm using windows 10.   Tried the search and command prompt for % appdata%/Bitcoin and both came up with no results. Am I missing a step here? When you say client does it mean my computer?

I have a couple of these in backups from previous computers. Somewhere I have o.1 bitcoin that I was given years ago. I have BC 14.2 loaded & updated with block chain thru today. Can I drag & drop the dat file or do I need to save it somewhere that the software automatically updates ? Thanks

I also had an older computer with Bitcoin from 2013 ( maybe 2011). I have updated to BC 14 and run it until its current. I found dat file from 2013 backup ( had 80mb of data) and created a file from this thread to put it in. Restarted Bitcoin.  I can't find that anything transferred of that the dat file was read.  Can someone walk me thru this please ?  THank you

Thank you.  I went to settings and clicked on change passphrase, but it was grayed out & won't let me access it or make any changes . Would this mean I don't have a password ?   I'm also using Bitcoin Core, is that something different ?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Password concern on: August 31, 2017, 03:47:13 PM
I have updated my computer to BC 14.2 and run all the chains thru today. I'd like to use/buy bitcoin but I cant remember if I set up the account with a password. My fear is buying 3-4 bc and having them stuck in the wallet because I don't know hat the old password is. Is this a valid concern ?  Is there a way to change the password now ?  Thank you

I obtained .1 bitcoin ( I believe that was the amount) back in either 2011 or 2013 ( I have BC files on my computer from both of those dates ).   I wanted to get involved in using them so I downloaded the current wallet and ran the synchronization.  I have what I believe are all the old files on a remote hard drive. A search reveals  89 files ( none of them dat ). They are H, RC ,QM, CPP, application, PNG, ICNS. Which of these files do I need ?  Can you share, click by click, how I copy & paste or transfer these ?    Huh     Thank you !
