What are peoples thoughts on coins that offer profit distribution? Would you invest.

I think they're great as theyre appealing to investors but I don't know what the average investor thinks.

Is this true though - I very rarely see profit distributing coins anymore :/
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Burning Tokens in a sale lend legitimacy to an ICO? on: January 11, 2018, 11:00:11 AM
I think it does. Burning tokens adds a significant way to increase return.

I was wondering however, given the SECs new rules on burning tokens and dividends etc, can ICO provide burns anymore?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are ICOs outside of the USA affected by SEC? on: January 11, 2018, 10:56:22 AM
Hi

So just wondering with all the rules the SEC have posted on utility coins and profit distributing coins - can the SEC really say anything about ICOs outside of the US that are undertaking these characteristics (such as a burn, profit distribution etc)

Hi I have a question on the CRPT token.

I understand that there is a dividend given to the CRPT token holders.

My question is how is this not considered a security under the SEC rules? The admin on telegram group stated it was a utility token but if it receives dividend that point is irrelevant right?

Anyone have a link to the CRED whitepaper. You have to request it on Google which for some reason never gets granted?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Greedy binance,bittrex,CEX.io exchanges on: January 06, 2018, 11:06:14 PM
Are these exchanges allowed to list coins that offer dividends?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoin dividends - what do people think? on: January 06, 2018, 11:04:05 PM
Hi all,

I wanted to discuss a new feature that some Altcoins are implementing into their token structure - i.e. dividend payment

We all know a handful of coins that offer "dividends" to token holders. This is through commissions or fees that it collects via their network (and distributed in some form of token, ether etc.).

Some examples (from my knowledge) include:

Augur
Ethbits
Peerplays
DigixDAO

Seeing as there has been a lot in the news lately especially from the SEC, I'd like to know if anyone has any idea what the legal position is?

I.e. are the coins mentioned above securities? Does a dividend equate to it being a security? What does that mean for them - i.e. long term prospect.

Also I have heard some exchanges like Bittrex are delisting those that do offer dividends but have no idea if that is true?

Keen to hear what people think Smiley

I think it can be considered gambling by some - the UK tax authority do not see it as gambling (otherwise it would be tax exempt).
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin expectation $25000+ on: January 06, 2018, 10:35:09 PM
I think 25k is possible by maybe mid 2018 - but theres so much uncertainty at the moment. A lot of people are ignoring btc and going into altcoins whihc have greater gains

ICOs are being misued by certain individuals but there are a legitimate way for many honest businesses. Which is the latest ban?
