1  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Decent Mining GPU for around $200 on: November 10, 2013, 08:34:19 PM
Then buy your self gaming gpu and enjoy, and don't bother with btc mining.
You can't mine btc with gpu any more.
sure you can

if you have free electricity, why not?

for under $200, get a 7950

or wait!  i'll sell you my 6990 for $225

or i have some 7850s... or some 7790s..

No sense in buying now, like I said I need to wait till after tax season

Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good GPU for BTC mining for the cost of around $200 - $300.
I am a gamer, but I figure when I am not gaming I could do some mining.
I am a laptop user, but I am planning to build a PC this tax season to save some money for upgrades later on.
The current setup I am looking to build uses a GTX 7770, but I heard Nvidia's were not too great when it comes to btc mining. (ltc mining is a different story though apparently, but btc pays off more)

Anyway's, any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

Cheers!

First, if you want to mine BTC with GPU you can forget about it, with $200 you can buy pretty good low hash rate ASIC....

Re read the main post, I am a gamer, I can't game with an ASIC can I?
Also I don't have that much money extra to blow to afford an ASIC and a gpu.

Go with LTC. If you want to do more than 1 coin, then use LTC as main, and do FTC on the side.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin PayPal Scammer on this forum on: May 07, 2013, 03:34:13 PM
It's quite difficult to find anything conclusive since it's probably a fake name

If it was a fake name, then he couldn't even have his paypal up and running. As you should know, paypal is requiring proof of SSN, Poof of ID, and proof of address. And this is not just for old accounts either. Also, paypal can tell if the email was just created, or what it has been used for. They can also scan names to tell if the name is fake or not. Paypal is very thorough.

Personally, I think it could use some sort of material form. Like an actual bit stamp or certificate like they used to do with silver (Silver certificate aka silver dollar).

That's a hell of a meme.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Slim chance of finding blocks huh? (LTC) on: May 06, 2013, 11:54:44 PM
Then there is something else I am not understanding. According to the PPLNS stats on my pool, My last shift is 0 blocks, 527 shares, with a 0.00000000 per-share rate and a 0.00000000 reward. Each time a new shift is started, the number of blocks increases, and the per share rate increases as well. In about 1 hour, the same shift will result in about 1 - 2 blocks, and a per share rate of 0.00000002. In about 6 hours time, it will be about 5 - 6 blocks, with a per-share rate of 0.00000004 to 0.00000005. So how and why does this increase when I am on a different shift? Also, how will I know if I have found a block?
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Slim chance of finding blocks huh? (LTC) on: May 06, 2013, 11:39:53 PM
your not finding blocks... only shares... which mean the lowered difficulty of the pool you are on so that they can calculate a reward/payout

If you look closely, in 4 minutes it says it detected 4 new blocks. Is this not the same as finding a block?
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Slim chance of finding blocks huh? (LTC) on: May 06, 2013, 11:29:09 PM
So, on all the calculators I have been on, I get the same result. For my average hash rate, and my pools difficulty, finding a block in 2 weeks is less than a 2% chance.

An example:
https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc?hashrate=20&difficulty=396.553

So if this is correct, how is it I am finding blocks like nothing?

Does this make sense to anyone?

Lol, in just 6 hours huh? So far it has been 2. BTC fell to $102, then bounced back to $112, now its at $110 as of me writing this. The guy scammed you to make some quick btc and cash.

A question,please.

reformatting hard drive and reinstalling Windows will remove keystroke logger, viruses AND rootkits?

thank-you

Technically, no. Like phones, computers have firmware. Anything you ever do, download, or see on your computer is embeded in your firmware. However, reformating can remove the virus from your computer rendering it useless, but that doesn't mean it is off of your computer for good.

You should record video. Also, regaurding the comment about bfl being a manufacturer, they are more than just that. They have a marketing department, a manufacturing department, and about 2 - 3 others. They are in fact a business, so as the OP said, they must have "open hours" where people may stop by.

so he stole 3.87224984 BTC??

He stole more than that....

Do you honestly think that the hardware he bought was a measly 1 btc?
no... 3.37324984 BTC

That doesn't include the BTC that he supposedly paid for the hardware. Hence why I said he stole more than that.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My bitcoins have been stolen on: May 06, 2013, 09:40:37 PM
This. More than likely the btc stealing software. Face2Face is not always a good decision. Never allow someone to install something, or put something into your computer. I would have had him write down his address, not bring a flash drive. Your bitcoins can possibly be returned if you backed up your wallet with an encryption. He shouldn't be able to do anything with them as long as you did that. Also why do you post this in the noob section? Shouldn't this go in the support section?

Where do you get this idea?  If the coins are gone they are gone.  There is no getting them back (at least not through the protcol).  An encrypted version of the wallet does nothing if the attacker has access to your system.  They can install anything including a keylogger to record and transmit your passphrase the next time you type it and a rootkit to hide any trace it ever existed.

In otherwords, you think the guy spent hundreds of dollars for hacking software to gain a couple btc? I doubt anyone would want to go through that much trouble, or even gain federal offences on their names over something that does not truely exist.

post your BTC addresses in this thread

I tried simon says, played free so I cant submit my score or compete for the prize, but I scored 16, just 2 under the current high score.

I love simon says.  My best scores I wrote down the pattern.  The problem is writing/typing before the timer runs out.

I don't need the timer, I just use sound color coordination. The process is similar to photographic memory, but not as accurate. It allows me to gain a high score, but only after a certain amount of tries. If I were to go at it again, I could probably score higher. I consider writing it down cheating, and I am guessing the creator of the flash game does too, hence why there is a timer.
