1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Official Lamborghini for bitcoin thread! on: June 18, 2015, 04:40:32 PM
I've owned a couple of quasi supercars. I don't think I'd ever go there again. In the UK it doesn't inspire appreciation. People just tend to think you're a flashy twat.

Staying under the radar is far more peaceful and more fun. I'd go for a stinky old banger with a few hundred grand's worth of WRC technology bristling underneath.
I imagine it's fun for awhile but the attention would get old unless you crave it. I've heard many people say that's the reason they ditch their dream cars even though they love driving them.   Saying that..it would be great to have one for the occasional ride. In my location it's super unnecessary and you must be super rich as upfront cost and maintenance are stupid compared to the U.S..and the roads are not super car worthy.

I'd like to have one on some kind of timeshare if I ever end up spending time in the U.S again..and, well, btc makes me wealthy again lol.

This is how I see the story playing out..

Trades Lambo back into BTC, Buys Bugatti, Trades Buggati back to BTC, Buys Yacht.

Luke-Jr must be happy

is there a story behind this? Eligius is for the block limit increase and isn't including TX's to press the issue?

He stated that a blocksize decrease would be beneficial and settlement times of +24hrs for confirmations is healthy.

Since he created Eligius I am imagine that he is quite pleased it managed to pull a .24kb block.

marcus and his character assassins like to argue that Bitcoin should be a "settlement currency".

how can it ever be a settlement currency when it's use is currently confined to a small group of users?  let alone when the Blockstream plan is to shunt the vast majority of tx's to SC's or LN preventing our transition to mining paid for by tx fees?

it's a ludicrous economic plan that will cause Bitcoin itself to wither and die.  but when your business model depends on SC consulting fees it will be quite lucrative; in USD.
Spot on.

BTC needs to go through it's growth phases to get to it's ultimate destination. 1mb blocks doesn't allow for this to happen.

Their plan kills the network effect which leads to bitcoin integration. It's a direct threat to bitcoin maintaining and winning as "The Worldwide Ledger". Their activities are the greatest threat to bitcoin. A possible drop in nodes or their "centralization" threat is nowhere near as severe as them kneecapping bitcoin in it's race to global use and integration.

It was a no-brainer that bitcoin was going to come out on top and be "the blockchain". I'm not so sure anymore.

The only reason we have these ups and down is to exhaust the idiot sellers (weak hands) of their coins. Which I am all for 100%
People who do not understand this get taken for their coins

Ask side growing. Bid side getting smaller. Back to 320 within the hour and from there it's only down.

As always i'm 100% right.

Bet 2.5 against your 2. ??

Sellers are going to be completely butt-hurt next week. If you can't see the change in sentiment, media exposure, awareness...then you don't deserve to hold coins

Rally is over. 350 again this weekend. The dumpers are slowly taking over.
And we all know it drives them nuts that their coins are worth this much. So they will do everything they can to take us down again. Which will be easy as the buying pressure is dissapearing again.

Bet? I'm in for 5 BTC
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust Observer on: November 13, 2014, 03:25:57 PM
they are massively collecting - why?
I always assume these guys have better information than we do but maybe they only buy because stuff is cheap
Aren't they just basically a means for wealthy investors to get in? Perhaps we're starting to see the beginning of more rich folks transferring wealth into BTC.

The last two buys are deduced from changes in the published total USD value of the bitcoins owned by the fund (TAV  column; "Net Assets" item in their homepage) and the current bitcoin price.  Each estimated buy corresponds, withing the range of error, to a  round 2.5 million USD of investment by clients.  The round numbers and isolated increases may indicate that a single client made both investments.

Yes, I believe this has been either one or 2 large buyers. That's what this vehicle is for and that's quite exciting Smiley

Indeed. Because the type of people who invest in secondmarket have deep pocket. In this ridiculously thin market a couple of dozen people with deep pockets competing for coins drive it stratospheric.

Remember we were at $360 ONE DAY ago

Yeah, I expect stabilizing around $400 +/- $5. This is too high

I expect stability around $10k for a little while.

We're way low.

Which side of the bet makes more $?  Bull-side..always
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: November 12, 2014, 06:27:41 PM
remember, remember, last November when the bulls ate everything in sight?

15k shorts to close..good luck in this bull run. You may find a few weak hands but we're now in the radar of the masses and huge funds are literally about to join the party.
