It doesn't matter, bitcoin is at the moment is a pure speculation. You can't evaluate all possible here.
2  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think about philosophy? on: October 05, 2017, 10:15:10 PM
I'd say that Philosophy is more important now than it has been for the last three decades. But why is "explain certain behavior of people" the litmus of importance?

5  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to deal with stress? on: October 05, 2017, 09:31:27 PM
For me, cleaning. Usually when I'm stressed it's because of something outside of my control, so organising my home makes me feel better. It helps because I'm doing something, it doesn't take long, it works out tension and at the end everything looks better.

This is my criteria for smartphones, firstly as a student you must own a smartphone because now days everybody communicate through media social. To be honest, it's hard for me because this generation people don't even call or message to each other all they do is message through media social and if you don't have any Internet connection you'll never get that message. The second one is, the camera quality must be out standing. And the most important is my phone must be water proof, but unlucky for me I didn't get it.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ANACOIN - cryptocurrency for peace on: September 22, 2017, 11:34:50 AM
Hey! My congratulations with the good news! Should admit I have mixed feelings about your project... It's a great mission and a brave statement, the concept has a future for sure, but I'd prefer to see more specifics, and look at a strategy for realizing your big idea. In any case, good luck. I'll think about joining.

Hi there Orbitlense,

That's fully understandable, it's a lot to take in and frankly we're doing some unconventional things Smiley Let me know if you want more information. I'm in charge of strategy and still suffering from academic thinking so even if you wouldn't ask for it - I'd probably throw lots of specifics at you. Just let me know what you're curious about!
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What to buy these days? on: September 11, 2017, 12:16:46 PM
Personally I have the most confidence in alt-coins with a specialized purpose or advantage that deals with Bitcoin's shortcomings. Litecoin and Monero prime examples
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To Many SCAM! on: September 11, 2017, 10:56:29 AM
ICOs are just too easily set up and too hard to verify its ethical standards - most really don't care. bit of an unfortunate mix of both buyers and sellers only caring about money.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Universal Map Of Knowledge – Everything We Know Has Value on: September 11, 2017, 10:36:13 AM
Hey I like the concept involved - but the bigger picture is a bit missing. bit of  a shameless plug on my side, but you might find https://ananas.org.uk interesting, as we're also mapping knowledge, but starting with subjective knowledge . We're always looking for like-minded people, who understand the importance of knowledge & context in a divided and confusing world Smiley

Best of  luck with your project!
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Do we need blockchain technology? on: September 05, 2017, 01:38:27 AM
My personal perspective is that the value of blockchain technology introduced by Bitcoin is more of a conceptual one. The idea that we can decentralize the process of governance and consensus, and in that process value is created, which then can be distributed. It's quite interesting, because the cryptographic nature by design introduces a form of scarcity and security. Approaches like Iota's 'tangle', and some lesser known approaches such as the Holochain that don't store the full ledger at every node, are all essentially the same in achieving some form of decentralized governance, consensus, and value.

I think this is the real value, and the reason why the answer is a resounding *yes* to the question of whether we need blockchain technology.
Consensus, governance, and value, are all crucial parts to various kinds of systems, the degree to which still is unexplored.

You might have heard the phrase 'token economy' floating around, which encapsulates this.

The thing is, our world is really goddamn complex, and as certain systems and services grow in number and complexity, centralization becomes increasingly problematic. Take the government for example. The government is responsible for such a wide array of things, with so ridiculously many people depending on the adequate execution of their responsibilities, and the drawbacks of centralization become clear. The smaller the governing system and the larger/complex the system to be governed, the more difficult it is to achieve adequate control - it's just a mathematical constraint.

We depend on services and tools to deal with our increasingly complex environment, but what about the other way around? I know it sounds a bit fight-club esque, but our relation with our environment is more often than not out of balance. You may use facebook, but facebook uses you as well. Whether the relationship is fair, I'm not sure of, but that facebook doesn't care much, I am pretty sure of.

On a more positive note, I do believe we are in a transitionary phase of deconstruction.  A deconstruction of the services we need, and the tools available to fulfill these needs in a manner that gives the users more control, by decentralizing governance, and removing a need for trust from some central institution. We're just still learning the possibilities available with this new technology, which is going to become increasingly clear and exciting when we're going to get past this money-grabbing phase as reflected by unethical ICOs and shitcoins.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Coin Idea on: September 05, 2017, 01:16:27 AM
I say: "why not". If you feel strongly enough that you have a good idea, whether it is original or not is irrelevant. There are countless reasons not to do something, but you only need one reason to do it. Take some time to build your knowledge then go for it. In general, I'd recommend forking your coin from one of the existing big ones rather than creating a token, but for what you've mentioned, maybe a token is 'good enough' for an intermediary coin. The advice to join another coin or two or three to learn from them is not a terrible idea either Smiley

I actually agree with this. The thing is, it is fully your responsibility to make this work, if you are really motivated to do so. Despite what others say, ICOs aren't "dead". China's crackdown isn't because ICO's don't work, it's because the ICO culture just shot themselves in the foot. The rampant money grabbing culture and blatant disregard for investors' interest, is a reflection of how both investors and ICO projects reinforced the concept of an ICO as a "Free money as long as I use hype words and cool graphs" opportunity.

The space of possibilities with token currencies is still largely unexplored, and its process of maturation is bound to be accompanied with pain and hiccups.

That being said, I am not particularly optimistic about your coin idea, but I do encourage people to be creative and explore the possibilities, as long as they take it seriously and do it for the right reasons. I think in general it's good to ask yourself the question of what a token is, what its unique properties are, and if there's good reason to use it in whatever you're making or building. Is it a store of value? Does it confer unique rights? Is it an API key? Even if you're not a coder, diving into the material isn't as hard - spending a day or two exploring all the different venues could give some inspiration, and at the very least make you knowledgeable about something genuinely interesting that might have a big role in changing the economy and internet.

If you do choose to do so, you'll probably be inclined not to make a new coin, but I do hope it might spark some curiosity in this exciting space, perhaps even join some of the better crypto/token projects out there Smiley As the China ban showed, the crypto communities are in dire need of people who aren't there just for the money.
