1  Economy / Service Discussion / **DO NOT USE BITGO !!! on: January 31, 2018, 08:42:48 PM
DO NOT USE BITGO EXCHANGE OR WALLET

I’ve been having a horrible experience with BitGo for the last 2 years. Their customer support has done everything they can to avoid assisting me recover funds in my BitGo wallet.

In October of 2015, I left a couple hundred dollars in my BitGo wallet after a transaction, then completely forgot about it, as I temporarily lost interest in the whole bitcoin thing. A year ago, as I got interested again, I remembered about these funds there and started the process to move them to my new wallet.

For some reason, totally unknown to me, I no longer had the password for my wallet, none of my usual ones worked. Even stranger, I didn’t have the original email from them when I opened up my account. This is very unusual for me, as I keep EVERYTHING, especially something as important as the email and passcode that was sent to me at the time. None the less, after searching everything electronic and the entire house, neither was anywhere to be found.

I contacted BitGo support, told them I lost my password and keycard. They said there was nothing they could do, but to contact Wallet Recovery Services. So, I did, but at the time, never heard back from them. I told BitGo this, but they said there was nothing they could do. At the time it still wasn’t worth that much and figured I’d deal with it when I got some more time.

Cut to a year later, and obviously, it’s worth a lot more, so I started trying again. Contacted BitGo support. They told me the same thing. They couldn’t help me, but to contact WRS. Dave at Wallet Recovery Services, this time was extremely helpful and we started the process for him to try to break the code. After a couple weeks, he was unable to, so I contacted BitGo support and updated them.

At this point, they said they WOULD NOT send me the original email, even though it’s the same account and account holder. I’m really having trouble understanding why they wouldn’t resend the original email to the same account holder and email. This would have solved all the problems. They said they needed the information in that email or they wouldn’t help me. Why would they not send the original account holder at the original email address (they could see from Whois that it’s the same person)? WTF?

I sent 3 emails to them. (That’s THREE) and got totally ignored until they responded and suggested now, that they pass it along to someone else they’re working with, Keyternal. That was now a week ago. All they needed was for me to open up a new wallet AT BITGO, that I could transfer these funds into, and my wallet identifier (which I do have).  Anyways, did that a couple weeks ago. NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN.

I’ve now sent 6 (thats SIX) emails to BitGo asking for help and asking what happened with this new recovery service and can they contact them and see what’s going on. NOT ONE RESPONSE. TOTALLY IGNORED.

So, here I am, with nowhere to go and BitGo completely refusing to even answer my emails, let alone help me get my funds out of my BitGo wallet. I’m wondering what their ulterior motive is here. I told them that if they kept refusing to respond to me, I would share my experience on user forums and comment sections on every site I could, hoping no one else would have to go through this bullshit with BitGo.

There it is. Your warning! Get your money out and don’t buy anything else from BitGo, unless you want to risk losing it all and not getting one bit of help from BitGo.

Great. Thank you for that. D

That's perfect. Thank you. I know just enough coding to be dangerous.

As of this morning, it looks like the reset I did with the IP reporter button worked, however I'm not sure if it completely allowed the firmware reinstall to take. Here's the kernel version. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? It doesn't to me, which means there's still something left on there:

Kernel Version   Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-gb190cb0-dirty #57 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 9 14:49:22 CST 2016

If that's not the correct version, and reinstalling the firmware can't change it, is there a way to ssh into it and change it, or does it mean a new controller board?

Thanks.

D

I did the IP Reporter hard reset today. It seems to have somewhat fixed the problem temporarily, however neither machine has come back up to full hash rate. I'm giving it 24 hours to see.

I think the Kernel Version is still what they left. If someone knows what I should see as the kernel version for the 650 firmware upgrade, please let me know so I can compare.

I may also try the SD install, if everything isn't normal in the morning. I see a link above for instructions. Thank you very much for that.

I also have to check the firewall settings again. I switched internet service to ATT that same day. Coincidence? New modem/router, so I'm sure it wasn't as strong as it should have been.

Here's what happened, so others know what to look for:

I powered the machines down to re-configure the AC wires on my rig. When I powered back up, got back to my laptop to check everything was running ok, I noticed that the pools were now set to the viaBTC pools with the user as something strange, maybe something like XX00.S9 or something like that. Don't remember exactly. When I tried to change it back, I entered my pool info, then clicked on "Miner Status" tab, but it wouldn't change, stayed on "Miner Configuration" tab. That's when I knew something serious was wrong. Tried reinstalling the firmware, everything. Nothing changed, and my pool wasn't reporting any workers from those machines.

Will give an update tomorrow. Thank you all for your help. Much appreciated. Also going to get to know Awesomeminer tomorrow. May need help with learning how to SSH into the machine, so I can troubleshoot better next time.

On another note, put my two new D3's online the other day. What a disappointment to find out where we're at with X11 right now. Nothing like it was when I ordered those machines a couple months ago Sad

No, have had them and running fine for a few months.

I have not been able to install any new firmware. Won't take. Tried everything. I can get in there, even got Awesomeminer to say one of them was able to change the pool, but when I go back to the machine, it's still in the same condition, with that Kernel version.

Is a new controller board the only option?

Bitmain suggested that if none of the reset options work, to create a repair ticket for a new board.

Yes, the first thing I tried. When I install it, after it's done, it returns an error page from the cgi-bin that says "incorrect firmware". Tried all versions on the Bitmain site. Apparently, whatever they did, doesn't allow me to overwrite what they put in.

The Kernel version is this.. obviously the wrong one. I need to get in there and completely overwrite the firmware. Start from scratch:

"Kernel Version   Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-gb190cb0-dirty #57 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 9 14:49:22 CST 2016"

Need to get in there and get it back to factory.

Anyone know if I can load it from the SD card and make it work?

Again, anyone who knows how to SSH into it and reload the factory firmware (and software?), I'll pay to get it done.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Last night, I powered down my two S9's. When I powered back up, they were configured to point to a viabtc pool. When I tried to change them, I could no longer get it to stick. When I clicked on "Miner Status" it would stay on the Configuration page. Both machines. I tried re-installing the firmware, but neither machine would take it.

Now I"m stuck, leaving these powered down until I can get the firmwere/software reinstalled. Tried resetting, all that. Nothing helps.

Is there a way to reinstall the software or whatever they did to this?

I'm working on learning how to SSH into it, but don't what to do once I'm in.

I'll be happy to pay a good price if someone can get me back up and running asap.

PM me if you can help. Obviously, time is of the essence.

Thanks. Dave

Ok, I've tried a few different fans that, online, say they are for Antminers. The latest, was the Digikey, but none work. The ones on my S9 work on the S7, anyone know where I can get fans that WILL WORK on my S7?

Thanks in advance.

The pool config is fine, as far as I know, I copy and pasted from my other miners and saw it as one of my miners on the pool.

Yes, both 4 pin fans and high speed, was told they were for F9's. All it says is S7 Version 1. That help?

Hi all,

Just bought a used Antminer S7. I was told it probably has a bad board, but he wasn't sure and didn't want to deal with it. For the price, it was worth buying and fixing.

Just set it up, starts up, I can see it on the network and can access the HTML setup page just fine.

So, the red light stays on and it starts beeping after a while. I have one fan running.

In the "Miner Status", the hash rate is 0. I don't see any numbers for the fan, however when I was troubleshooting the other night, I hooked up the fans from one of my S9's and it did see them. The fan I'm using now, I bought from a dealer who says they're totally for Antminers, guaranteed. Not sure, but either way, I don't think THAT would cause the beeping and 0 hash.

So, looking for some help, someone who is knowledgeable and willing to troubleshoot this with me. I will pay for your time if you're an efficient troubleshooter.

email me directly at dave@filmsound.com as well as responding here.

Thanks

Just bought a used S7, am told one of the hash boards is bad. Haven't received it yet, but will need to purchase a replacement board. Having a hard time finding them for sale. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
