Still learning about Bitcoin. I've come across references to wallet protection services (referenced in BIP11 and other places) as a way for on-line wallets to be more secure. Do any on-line wallets use something like this? And if not (I can't find any), why not?

Newbie here (obv.), trying to learn as much as possible about Bitcoin. Do most people use a software-based wallet or a web-based wallet? It seems to me that web-based is much more user friendly and flexible, but there's the risk that it'd get hacked.
