Note, it looks similar to real announcement, but contains some fishy stuff and I closed my account anyway so I don't think I should be getting their messages.

Just chiming in to say I opted for the refund and received it as promised.

yes you can. but you will still have 2 separate >140GB folders with the total above 250 GB if you want to run both full node clients.
I'm aware. Hard drive space isn't really an issue, I could fit five or six more copies if I wanted... But honestly there's a good chance I'll do like the comment above said and sell it off, after which I guess I won't need to keep both.

As far as they security goes, knowing all that is ideal, but I'll settle for "Do other people use this?" "Does it work?" "Did it steal their money?"

Alright, better safe than sorry. I guess that's what I'll do then. Anyone have a clue on #2? Whether I can just copy the block data over? Or shall I just give it a go and see what happens? No risk in that one at least I suppose.

And yeah, I get the impression not very many people use full nodes anymore, but I'm old fashioned like that.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please help me get started with Bitcoin Cash on: September 03, 2017, 03:10:49 AM
First of all, move your coins. Now that you've done that download "electron" which is a fork of electrum. Import the private key of the address that had a bitcoin balance as of Aug first. Send those bitcoin cash wherever you want and you're good to go!
Like I said, I'm going with Bitcoin Classic unless someone knows why I shouldn't. But I suppose this advice still applies, "First of all, move your coins". But why, may I ask? Is that just a "be on the safe side" kind of thing? Or is this a critical step for some reason I'm not grasping?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Please help me get started with Bitcoin Cash on: September 03, 2017, 02:52:29 AM
I know it's technically an altcoin, so I donno if this is the right forum section (please tell me the right one if not) but it's a fork, not something completely separate so I hope this is OK.

Alright here's the situation, I am a long-time, but not very active Bitcoin user. I've always used good old bitcoin-qt. So I've got a little bitcoin in that, right? And now I hear that I automatically have Bitcoin Cash too, without even knowing (score! I guess?) but I'm not sure how to make use of it. I look at bitcoincash.org (horrible website, by the way, entirely made of javascript) and check out the list of supporting clients. One is a special version of Bitcoin Classic, so the same old interface I'm used to. I intend to go with that unless someone knows a good reason to do otherwise.

With that out of the way, I've got a couple questions:

1. Would most people consider that client trustworthy? Is it OK to let it directly access a copy of my regular wallet?
2. To avoid having to downloading ~140GB of blocks all over again, can I copy the blocks and chainstate folders from my regular client? Or will it get confused if that contains blocks passed the split date?

trezor have all u have mentioned
nothing better than that...

You can use Yobit.net
worst joke ever
Anything I should know? But again I'm am just looking for a quick substitute exchange, not some kind of fancy wallet system.

You can use Yobit.net
Thanks for giving actual useful advice. As a heads-up for anyone else who looks at this, they seem to use BCC instead of BCH as the symbol for Bitcoin Cash. Almost didn't think they had it at first. But they do, so thanks again.

Can anyone recommend a no-hassle (probably crypto-only) exchange that deals in all of BTC, BCH, LTC and ETH?
https://www.exodus.io/eden/
Eh, I don't really consider installing experimental unsupported software "no-hassle". I'm just looking for an online exchange where I can quickly stash the less valuable coins until I decide what to do with them, and have the option of converting them to BTC if I decided that's the best course of action.

A multi-curency wallet program sounds cool and all, but it's not what I'm not really up for messing with that at the moment.
10  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: September 02, 2017, 10:42:51 PM
In the refund page :
"To refuse payment by currency, write "-" instead of the address. "

What do that mean ?

We can withdraw only selected coins ?
Yes, but just that means they keep the rest. I think the current wording is "To refuse payment (donate)..."

This is pretty annoying for me. The part where accepting an immediate refund closes our account was an unexpected twist. I have small amounts on there in a couple of currencies that I don't have my own wallet for. So now I have to scramble to set something up or else abandon those if I want my BTC back.

Can anyone recommend a no-hassle (probably crypto-only) exchange that deals in all of BTC, BCH, LTC and ETH?

Anyone else had one of these emails:
Yes I did, look just above your post. Is the redacted address in yours also btce@<your email domain>?

Yes it is
I see.
It's a scam email, fishing for info etc, don't have anything to do with it.
I concur. The above was all the confirmation I needed. That doesn't make any sense that they're asking each person to send the form to a different address on their own domain. I've got a couple suspicious bitcoins related emails in the past, so this isn't a huge shock. Still not sure how they got my address, but whatever, hopefully they don't actually have anything on my actual BTC-e account and this was just semi-targeted phishing.

So yeah, anyway if anyone else got that, DO NOT OPEN IT.

Did anyone else get an email purportedly from BTC-e this morning? I did, and it doesn't make any sense. I donno if it's a scam by someone who got a hold of my BTC-e account info or what...

At the moment 55% of funds are available, 45% of funds will be converted into
tokens, which we will redeem from you. Tokens can be bought and sold on our
stock exchange. On September 14 we will start making money transfers to your
wallets. Before September 5, you must fill out a form that you can download from
the attachement, and send it to btce@<my email domain>
Passphrase: *btc-e*
Thank you for your understanding, BTC-e team.

By <my email domain> I mean if for example my address was "bob@aol.com", it would be "aol.com", but it's something much more obscure than that so I don't think it could be a coincidence. And I'm quite sure BTC-e does not have an account at <my email domain>.

Attached was RefundForm.zip and inside RefundForm.doc which I have refrained from opening since this all looks incredibly sketchy.
