4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Problem with the boot of Antminer S4 on: April 01, 2018, 05:36:28 PM
Greetings to all the brothers of the forum! I have a small altercation with one of my antminer s4, this came working normal as always, however in an internet crash, I stop booting, the strange thing is that when I reset the factory it starts at the moment, however when I put it in the configuration of the data of my worker and the pool, it does not start, I have restarted it, reset it, reinstalled the firmware, I have done the boot image again on the microsd and even so, when I put my configuration it still does not start, it only starts when it has the default configuration, what can this be due to? Thank you in advance for the help you can give me.
7  Local / Hardware y Minería / Re: Una posible solución? on: January 31, 2018, 06:07:41 PM

8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Does the old thermal paste generate hardware problems? How to change it? on: January 27, 2018, 02:36:03 PM
Thermal paste conducts heat energy across the microscopic (air gap)surfaces of the processor and the heatsink. It is not water-based and should never dry out (but will eventually) when it does it loses its effectiveness. Don't use cheap paste that dries out relatively quickly.

Does that mean that the problem can be caused by the already dry pasta? a while ago remove the dissipators I cleaned the dry thermal paste they had and then connect the miner after restarting a couple of times started working at its normal power 2000ghs, however, I know that if I restart it is possible to return to the previous state Could it be the thermal paste that is generating this problem? Thanks for your comment!
You always want thermal paste to be still slightly gooey or at least not completely hard and it must also be free of bubbles. A new bead of thermal paste should always be applied after removing a heatsink to safeguard against the inclusion of air bubbles. That's just my two cents on thermal paste and heatsinks I don't know if it will solve your problem.

What is the best way to remove the thermal paste without affecting the chips? I noticed that the texture of the thermal paste that the chips already look like plasticine, thank you in advance.

My guess its not a thermal paste issue i think the problem your temp detector is your problem i don't have antminer s4 but maybe it is the same as antminer s7 or s9 try to follow trouble shooting guide from bitmain here https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/220872007-Possible-problems-for-Antminer-Troubleshooting-for-S7-S9-L3-

thank you for your answer brother, here you attach two images of how it looks what I speak

https://image.prntscr.com/image/T6UFS2RdS5mSUoKwTH10sw.png

I have never had problems with detecting the temperatures of the cards, I speak of the thermal paste because some people have told me that this may be the case and as it happened a month off, maybe the thermal paste finished drying (that's what I think) I ask if it is possible that this is what is generating the problem.
11  Bitcoin / Mining support / Does the old thermal paste generate hardware problems? How to change it? on: January 26, 2018, 10:32:13 PM
Can a dry thermal paste generate hardware problems such as not having reflected the temperatures of the hashboards in the mining interface or not recognizing the cards? I kept my miner off for almost 1 month for lack of a fancooler which stopped working, after I bought the spare I started the problem that I recognized the temperature of some cards if and others, sometimes it shows almost all the "x" in your cards, however you know that the asics are not damaged since their count is kept at "40" for each card (it is an antminer s4) there are also occasions that shows all the chips in "o" but does not raise power, sometimes the restart and reaches 500 ghs, a while ago remove the dissipators and I realized that the thermal paste is very dry, I do not know if the previous owners changed it sometime or if it is the original pasta (if so and taking into account that the antminer s4 was released to the public in 2014 and it would be enough time with that thermal paste not?) After having put the heatsinks again (without changing the thermal paste since I still do not buy it) I turned on the antminer and it reached 2100 ghs and there it remained, as it had reset previously, I had lost its configuration with the pool so I put it back and when it rebooted it returned to the previous state, recognizing the temperature of some cards and not others, some people told me that this may be due to the thermal paste and that I have to change it, now brothers of the forum, is it possible that this problem is generating the thermal paste?

What would be the correct way to remove the old thermal paste from the chips without these being affected?
12  Local / Hardware y Minería / Re: Una posible solución? on: January 26, 2018, 09:32:58 PM

Greetings brothers, I hope you are well, I have a small problem with my Antminer, recently I had damaged one of the fancooler and decided to leave the machine off until I got the spare, I spent several days off and yesterday I finally got the fancooler and I put it on, I started it and began to mine everything well, however I realized that I did not detect the temperatures of 2 cards (it is an S4) and I restarted it, suddenly I stop detecting the temperatures, now they appear "x" in almost all the cards, but there are also times that the restart and all the chips appear in "o" but does not upload the hash them as shown below, what could be the possible solution to this problem? I already tried resetandola, creating the boot image again and starts and starts normally, I think it has nothing to do with the chips are damaged because in the count of the asic is still showing 40 in all, has any had this problem?

Is it possible that the new fan cooler has ruined it? buy the most expensive one recommended by the bitmain support list for the s4 ... I hope this has a solution.

The last time I checked the kernel, it showed me the following
https://image.prntscr.com/image/0xYt7FevS9GFz2xRjlf55w.png

I usually restart it and sometimes recognizes some cards if and others do not (this has 4) there have even been times when the restart and begins to mine, the highest I get to see it was in 1500ghs, the last was 300ghs and since then it has not recognized the cards.

17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Power Supply? on: December 23, 2017, 06:02:04 AM
Greetings brothers, I have a little doubt, for example is it possible to adapt a different power source to an Antminer S4? This question arises because I read that they are power supply modified, that means that you could adapt another source of power of 1400w that is the one that uses this model that I give as an example?
18  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Fan cooler? on: December 21, 2017, 03:27:32 AM
If I remember right, the Delta TFC1212DE uses reversed PWM signal.

In short, that is why it does not work with the Antminer S4 controller.

I think the easiest way for you would be to have another fan model.

In that guide, the cooling fan manufactured by Sanyo is a good one.  Wink
https://support.myrig.com/hc/en-us/articles/204199879-Antminer-S4-fan-specification-and-possible-replacement-fans

It is does not have reversed PWM signal.

I used to have that Sanyo as a cooling fan for my Avalon 6.0 back in the days I had that miner.

Very good quality fan.

Very grateful for your answer brother !!! How unfortunate that he bought the one that was not, I should ask before doing it ...

Greetings brothers, again I here jajajajaja, recently one of the fans of my Antminer S4 reached its end, gave everything he could give, on the support page show several models that can replace said fan, acquired this model

Delta TFC1212DE

Now the problem I have is that the miner does not recognize me as a fan, that is, he shows his speed at 0, is there any way he can recognize it?

Thanks in advance!
