1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 12, 2018, 06:25:48 PM
I have an S9 whose 3rd chain GH/S(RT) is showing all zeros when it should be 4,500.88

I have rebooted & updated firmware but no change.

Any ideas?

Almost certainly you have a dead hashboard. You can switch signal cables (for example 1 to 3 and 3 to 1) to rule out malfunction on control board. If the problem moves to different slot you'll know it's the hashboard.

Unfortunately for warranty repair you need to ship the entire miner to Bitmain, if you still are under warranty period.

Sold out, thanks for good trade to Jesse again.

This time I got some scammers trying to get me to send the coupons first. Be careful out there.  Wink

How long has the RMA repair process been lately at Hong Kong worldwide repail facility? I have few S9s with dead hashboards, but I am not too eager to ship the entire units for extended period of time.

What PSU you are planning to run with this miner? I have an extra APW3++ for it, but it has such low power consumption that cheapish ATX PSUs should work out fine too. By cheap I don't mean bad quality one, but PSUs in 600-700W range are probably cheaper than APW3++ with shipping, taxes etc. Lower power ones don't necessarily have enough PCIe connectors.

Are these all now expired?

Hi all,

I am selling following coupons:

15 x 420 $ for 160 USD / pcs (valid 30/6/2018)
15 x 220 $ for 70 USD / pcs  (valid 10/6/2018)
15 x 200 $ for 60 USD / pcs (valid 1/6/2018)

It says 1 per customer, even if using multiple email addresses.  How do you order multiple?
Most likely people are using different addresses, emails and/or using a VPN or something of the sort to change their IP in conjunction with different addresses and emails to bypass the 1 per customer limit.

On the topic of coupons, are there actually coupons out there that are greater than 50% of the value of the Z9? I’ve only seen the $400 coupons around here and no amounts greater than $400.

I doubt that there is anything close to 50% of Z9, but I do have number of 420 $ coupons. Those are the largest I have heard of (and signal purchase of way too expensive miners early this year Cheesy).

Edit: Here is a link to my coupon sales thread if anyone is interested: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3513251.0
11  Economy / Digital goods / [WTS] Bitmain coupons - Sold out on: May 03, 2018, 05:01:48 PM
Hi all,

I am selling following coupons:

2 x 250 $ for 70 USD / pcs (valid 15/7/2018) Sold out
15 x 420 $ for 160 USD / pcs (valid 30/6/2018) Sold out
15 x 220 $ for 60 USD / pcs  (valid 10/6/2018) Sold out
15 x 200 $ for 44.50 USD / pcs (valid 1/6/2018) Sold out
35 x 100 $ bundle for 50 USD (valid 1/6/2018) Sold out

Paypal USD or BTC/LTC/BCH equivalent is accepted forms of payment.

Coupons can be used 1 / miner and max 50% of miner price. This is current Bitmain terms and can be changed at any time. You need to have a Bitmain account to receive coupons. We can use Escrow via trusted member of this forum if you prefer, cost is on buyer. Offers to purchase larger batches and offers from trusted forum members will be prioritized due to convenience. Smiley

Contact me: nennendude@gmail.com or PM here.

Edit: Coupon availability updated

Edit 2: While I generally don't mind people making offers, the pricing above is currently not negotiable. Unless someone would like to buy most or all of them at one go, that would save me some work. Smiley

It will get even more interesting sooner or later bitmain will announce a compute chip, which means whatever algo is minable on GPUs will be minable on this chip also, thats how the evolution will go , this will be the end of forking to change the algo it will be useless. This will drive the crypto market to make big shifts a lot of coins will be forced to make an implantation of POS solution or just keep the existing POW algo.

This is exactly USP of GPUs today and why they differ from ASICs. It will be probably challenging to make ASIC for some memory intensive algos like Neoscrypt. On the other hand Equihash was also supposed to be resistant, so we will see if they manage to crack the other ones too.

3. Stock parts at  Certified technicians. ( hey I stole your idea!)

I vote for this! Only slightly biased opinion as fellow Finn Cheesy

Anyway the current Bitmain RMA strategy of shipping the whole unit back really makes it barely feasible to go through all that fuzz. Makes one wonder if it's the purpose of the whole thing. It seems ridiculous since the machine could operate without one hashboard perfectly fine in the meantime while everybody could save costs on the shipping. Kind of defeats the purpose of having modular units inside a machine.

Overall working close to your customers is well documented being the winning strategy and goes long way offsetting the other parameters pointing the other direction. If it's close enough I will rather go with Canaan next time for sure.
15  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Notes from my journey to Beijing & visiting Canaan Creative in March 10-15, 2018 on: March 20, 2018, 11:07:48 PM
Cool report HagssFIN! It seems like Canaan does have a decent sized operation going on there. I've visited a few manufacturing plants in China during recent years for sure they know how to scale the business there. I can just imagine how massive the Bitmain operation must be. As a miner it is probably better not to know, would make me sick calculating the increasing BTC difficulty with each unit out of the door Cheesy

Respect to Canaan for this kind of open support/marketing initiative. So far our farm is running only Bitmain units for past price / efficiency reasons, but Canaan is generating trust with their way of addressing the market. Lot of things could be improved, but hopefully they will fix the important parameters and push themselves into contention for the next investment we are going to make.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 04, 2018, 09:56:50 AM
Can you apply all of the coupons to a single order?

Haven't tried but their email states you can't.

Why do they give out so many then? They want people to split their orders up into a million smaller ones?

”More than one Coupon cannot be used for the purchase of one miner.” You can use as many coupons as you have miners in your order.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bminer: a fast Equihash miner for CUDA GPUs (5.4.0) on: February 17, 2018, 12:31:49 AM
This looks like a proper scam, I suggest everybody to keep away from it unless it will be fixed. Tried it before reading this thread and it looks OK, but unapproved traffic is a definite deal breaker. Kinda obvious, but I will never roll out anything like this to my farm as there is good reliable options out there.

Note to dev: If you are interested gaining users with larger farms, you need to come clean right now. Otherwise good luck with whatever you're trying to pull with your secret data extraction.
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer V9 4TH on: February 07, 2018, 11:21:37 PM
Their miners already sell pretty well and most people probably won't even notice the new label on the miner. I don't think they've had many issues with product marketing recently considering their S9s sold out in minutes just a few weeks back.

Absolutely, their sales record has been excellent in a market with enormous demand for past few months.

However my point was that it is maybe not ideal to present a new product very similar to old one with such obvious image manipulation.

If it looks like the S7, specs sound like the S7, and it performs like the S7, then it probably is a S7.

Haha, this is usually quite accurate statement! As pointed out above already, they did not really bother to ease the concerns with their product marketing. If they wanted to convince the customer base that this is a brand new product, they probably should have hired somebody with better Photoshop skills to do the sales images Cheesy

Not stating anything about the product, but that looks just about as bad as it can.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 09, 2018, 12:04:49 PM
They do not do combined shipping on anything.. They ship everything single for customs reasons.

Actually they do send APW3++ in boxes of 8 pcs / box. But other than that, it does not help to combine orders. Order miners first and then PSUs from earliest batch possible in separate order. You will avoid possible delay with PSU delivery, which is not a rare occurrence.
