1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: July 31, 2017, 08:47:42 AM
Just a quick question. If DVC is so worthless, why build a coin on top of it? Why not make a new (alt)coin? And when the newDVC becomes worthless what then? A newnewDVC?

The biggest problem I see with DVC is the huge supply and that it got abandoned by the devs. It's still one of the oldest and most known coins, it just got abandoned. That said, I see a huge potential in DVC as it is, but with some minor tweaks (supply, code update, ...).

That's just my personal opinion.

I think he has a point there in his crash post.. One can clearly see that there was accumulation going on for at least the whole of 2015 at  ~250 $. So it is very possible it goes down to 500 or more ( 350 should be the lowest).

Just a matter of perspective. We don't know what will be the next high, maybe somewhere in the future, this year or next, the price will be close to $5k, so current level will be like $200 from 2015

It's not a matter of perspective, it's a matter of FACT. I can only suggest you learn to deal with the facts. And to be CLEAR: I didn't say what will happen, because I don't have a crystal ball. I only said what is possible, based on history and facts.

i see you are new to FUD, welcome to the list of FUDsters.
and yes he has a point, and there is always a shred of truth to all of them, that is what an old FUDster does. they use a real event with some truth thrown in there and then add the lies. it is 5% truth and 95% lie. a newbie will see all of it as truth but the rest of us see the bullshit.

your FUD is 110% bullshit that doesn't even make sense. continue trying though it is fun to see others try Cheesy

Yet you didn't provide a single fact, so I will tell you one: the number of my posts on this forum doesen't reflect my knowledge about bitcoin. And another fact: there's not only HODLER's, there are traders too. They will take profit, no matter of FUD or your personal feelings.

But what do I know...

Hmm. What about including it in some existing bitcoin ATM's? While searching I found a ATM manufacturer from my country. Will definately try to contact them next week.

Hmm. I've checked with ebay. Seems there should be no problem although I'm still reading trough the ToS. Anybody has a seller acc on ebay?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: July 25, 2016, 08:11:54 PM
Hi guys its me again. Does somebody know a source to get ixcoins direct for cash or cc? There's a lot of interest but its still to complicated for the average joe to buy them. I thought for a ebay like, where you can simply buy anything with a CC, but there are other problems. Any idea?

Just to confirm coinomi is working flawlessly. Very good work to all involved. I've tried to involve some friends but unfortunately most of them use an iphone. But how does it go, you can't have a rainbow without rain ;-)

I will make a video on how to setup a paper wallet as I get home. I've tried it and I think it will be to complicated for non techy pepople. I think it could be something like this:

1. run a virtual machine from a usb stick (for advanced security disconnect all hdd)
2. install your printer without to connect to the internet ( pc has to be phisically disconnected from any network, wifi too!)
3. make and print paper wallet(s)
4. erase any traces of the process left in the computer (clear memory...)
5. import private key to existing wallet

The video will be a fool proof steb by step tutorial. Anyone has any suggestions on what to add? And one last question: anybody willing to offer her/his personal voice for the video? A "her" would be much appreciated.

Maybe this helps

Paper Wallet Generator

December 29, 2014

The Walletgenerator.net Team ( walletgenerator.net ) made an offiline wallet for Ixcoin. You can create one too following these instructions:

CREATE A PAPER WALLET

Download github.com/MichaelMure/WalletGenerator.net/archive/master.zip

NOW GO OFFLINE, BE SURE YOUR PC HAS NO MALWARE OF ANY KIND

Unzip it, click on "index.html"

Move your mouse around to generate random characters

Click on the right on "Choose currency", choose "iXcoin"

In "Single Wallet" click on "Generate new Address" : you will get:

-Public Address

-Secret Private Key

Print the Wallet and keep it in a safe place.

SEND COINS TO YOUR PAPER WALLET

Now send coins (start with a few if you are not sure) to your "Public Address"

Wait 10 minute and check if now this amount can be seen in the blockchain:

iXcoin Blockchain

You should be able to see it. Now they are in your paper wallet (they are in the blockchain, in reality).

REDEEM YOUR COINS (when ir will be neccessary or just to test the system)

How will you redeem your IXC in the future?

Download the last iXcoin QT wallet, sync the blockchain.

Now in the iXcoin QT wallet, go to "Help", then "Debug Window", "Console"

Write:

walletpassphrase "mywalletpassphrase" 600

("mywalletpassphrase"= it's the password of your QT-wallet, if you set one)

(600=seconds the encryption of the wallet will be disabled)

Then write:

importprivkey "mysecretprivatekey" "nameofthewallet"

("mysecretprivatekey" = it's the Secret Private Key you have previously generated)

("nameofthewallet" = just a name you give to the wallet)

With this last operation you didn't transfer coins, you simply added the address (used before as paper wallet) to your iXcoin QT wallet.

WARNING: never show your Secret Private Key to everybody. The only way to invalidate the old private key is transferring all the coins to a new address.

Thats exactly what I'm talking about. I've used it and it works, but we need a step by step video, which even an old grandma understands. But beat me, I can't remember with which version of the client I've imported the keys. Will post it next week.

P.s. do we need a special permission from walletgenerator.net for including their site in our video? Or is mentioning the source enough?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: July 20, 2016, 03:16:27 PM

May I ask why?

I'm the kind of guy you may ask anything.

I said instinctively because I don't fully understand why.

For one I'd have to erase the memory on my printer since it's connected to wifi and [historically] my router gets spoofed 24/7 by unknown parties.  Then I'd have to constantly worry about the fact that my billions of dollars are sitting on an easily destructible, bio-degradable storage device, a water/heat sensitive piece of paper.

Then there's the problem where I forget where I put my wallet which is why I haven't carried a wallet in over a decade.  lol

And of course, anybody can break into my chateau/castle and just take it [after waterboarding me and rearranging my pretty face].

Other than that I instinctively feel pretty good about the whole idea.  Grin

See, thats why I want to make this video. To clear up some things... Anyway for all who don't allready know that:

IF YOU WANT TO SECURE SOMETHING OR HAVE SOMETHING VALUABLE IN DIGITAL FORM, STAY THE F**K AWAY FROM THE INTERNET!!!

In my career I've seen it all. All things got hacked/cracked/bruteforced/reversed/cloned/emulated/stolen/... There's not a single electronic device I can think of that cant be hacked this days. Its only a matter of time and money. Smart cards of military grade for example. Just google around a little bit. So, to come back to the point. You mentioned you have a wifi printer? Stay away from it!

I've googled a little bit and found some cheap gear in my area. A working inkjet printer fo as little as 15€ and an old working notebook for 25. A quality (real) leather wallet costs more. You can use the gear only one time and then destroy it or use it exclusively for paper wallets. But one more time: ALWAYS REMEMBER TO DISCONNECT INTERNET PHISICALY / STAY AWAY FROM THE INTERNET!

Just my 2 cents.

paper wallets instinctively make me feel like I'm taking high risk.

May I ask why?

IMPORTANT:

Ok, Thomas is not responding and we have to deal with the premine issue somehow.

The best solution seems to be to blacklist the unredeemed addresses to which Thomas mined to, forever killing the premine.

The problem with this is the fact we would be blacklisting his premine addresses.  Given it's the premine we're blacklisting, would everyone be ok with that?  I know people freak out when they hear certain buzzwords like blacklist.

Say something now cause this has to be done soon to shut everyone up about the premine.

Regards,

Vlad

With all due respect Vlad, why are you and other people bothering with the premine? Everybody and his grandma had more than enough time to buy significantly more than this 650k. At a very low price. And there were large blocks of 150 - 200k sold not so long ago.

What is more concerning at present is the mining power. Just look what happened to DVC hashrate. No any sane miner will mine for nothing, even if its merged mining. Trust me on that. As a former miner I can tell you that every 0,01% counts.

So my personal opinion is: we should leave the premine as it is and concentrate on client updates and especialy mining power. TX fee is a must if we want miners to continue. I think I don't need to mention what will happen when cex stops mining IXC...

You iXcoiners were given a glimpse of your future by ATC, "the real(tm) altcoin".  Lulz.

The history and all its lessons lives, for now, at http://atc.blockr.io/

It's 5,000 hours since the last block.  That's what happens when your difficulty is orders of magnitude above your maximum best potential outcome for your miner slaves.  iXcoin has been in the same boat for far too long.  When some pool decides supporting this shit cost them more than 0.001 BTC you can kiss your remaining hashrate goodbye.  The above tombstone URL is my courtesy for your eternal reference.

I found this on another forum posted by an anonymus. I couldn't say it better myself so i will put a qute.

If digital currencies are to survive the rape by world banksters, you're going to need several dozen equivalent digital currencies competing with each other, even if they are essentially identical to bitcoin.

They need to become to big to fail and keep the powers to be from shutting down a new, yet equivalent currencies.

Did you reinstall from 64 bit to 32 bit or 32 to 64 bit?

Hi. Big thanks for this info, very good reply. Seems file is corrupted as I've tried all the keys and can't get the right address from hash.  I will play a little bit more and tell the results.

best regards
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / help with wallet.dat on: May 14, 2011, 01:34:17 PM
Hello. Long word short, I had a system crash ( hdd died ), lost my wallet.dat ( i had a backup, but on the same hdd Angry ) and had to reinstall win. In the meantime my pool sent me an automatic payment to my bitcoin address. I recoveered the wallet.dat file from the hdd and tried to use it with fresh installed bitcoin, but I get 11ddb exception, so I think the file is somehow corrupted or damaged. When I open the file with hex editor or notepad I can still see the address to which the bitcoins were sent. So I want to ask if somebody can help me to recover my coins or help to extract priv. key from my wallet or any other suggestion.

Best regards
