Can someone shed some light on how the ranks are set up? What's the difference in terms of Newbie to say Jr. Member .. and so on. What benefits/rights do the different ranks attain, and how does one advance in the ranks?
I'd like to join some bounty programs - and I am being excluded due to my not having been a regular here, despite my native fluency in multiple languages, which would allow me to be of assistance to multiple projects when it comes to translations etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Kenny
Hey Kenny, first of all welcome on board. This is a great place to learn more about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. In most of the bounty programs, rewards are given as per the membership rank. Generally, membership rank is based on the experience of the member. There are certainly some more benefits of higher member rank, you can check the rank promotion guidelines on this link * Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?). However, I don't recommended spending time in bounty rewards because initially one should focus on seeking knowledge in my opinion. Hey Dude - THank you for the information that was helpful. I'm not new to the space, I am actually working on a couple of projects myself and have been actively trying to learn everything I can about blockchain & crypto since early 2016. I am new to this forum and forums in general. So I was just trying to figure out how everything works here. Appreciate the assistance though.

It's so cool how you guys censor completely valid remarks simply because they disagree with you. Take the below for example. Does this forum operate out of the Kremlin? A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted. having to wait 6 minutes between posts is also a pain in the ass

What qualifies one to write a whitepaper?
It seems like your biggest problem will be avoiding any and all phraseology used by other whitepapers, to avoid tronning yourselves.
I don't think there are any formal qualifications. It's similar to creating a business plan.

+1 for making me laugh
It goes away after a month of activity, just suck it up. Like owlcat mentioned, people make fake accounts all the time posing as trusted members. As dumb as it sounds, the warning should be there.
Haha I do what I can. I guess that makes sense though. Hopefully soon I will cross and become a part of the Bitcoin Talk Brotherhood.

!! WARNING: This user is a newbie. If you are expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an imposter !!!
What is this the noob scarlet letter? If an imposter can make an identical account name that wouldn't make much sense.. Being a 'Newbie' here is like being a Pledge without the alcohol

It should take a hard effort now to increase the rank level. Because now using merit system and not easy to get it. But I will try to continue to be able to raise rank by obtaining merit. Because now the activity is not too decisive in the rank increase
Yes but its too hard to earn merit for newbie. creating original content is very difficult job. And someone review it and give us merit is also luck factor. AGREED

I have the fund of 2000$ which I want to invest somewhere. I thought building new project is a good idea. I am not a developer that's why I cannot start by myself.
I am looking for the developer. Who can work with me. We both will build the new project. Profit will shared by both of us.
PM me if you have Idea or want to work with me.
I started one gambling/Dice site but it was failed.
I'll DM you

I did try the search. And If I had found these, clearly I wouldn't have posted. The forum isn't the easiest thing to navigate with it's circa 2006 layout and there are numerous sections within it. But thank you for posting them here for me, I do appreciate it.

Back in December, there was a story about how a U.S. lady used "bitcoin" to send money to ISIS - She was arrested. Allegedly.
Link: http://bitcoinist.com/woman-arrested-sending-60000-bitcoin-isis/ Link: https://nypost.com/2017/12/14/woman-busted-sending-thousands-in-bitcoin-to-isis/
Now there are some key points to consider/remember with regards to this story. And this in part is my opinion - but I believe I am right (dont let my Newbie rank fool you).
Remember: Governements are petrified of Cryptocurrency.
Consider: 80% of the world is very gullible (using the 80/20 rule) and will believe whatever is jammed down their throat by the media without questioning it. Especially when both the Left and the Right are aspousing the same "facts."
Now keeping the above 2 points in mind - answer for me these questions.. 1) Why can I not find a picture of this alleged ISIS supporter ANYWHERE online? 2) Why would a criminal - who, in an effort to support ISIS, who we can at least concede was a well organized group run by at least somewhat savvy people (despite their being the scum of the earth) - elect to send the money in "Bitcoins" as opposed to any one of the Private/Secure/Untraceable cryptocurrencies available? Why not use Z-Cash? Verge? Crave? Bytecoin? -- Pardon me, but I'll give ISIS the credit of being slightly more intelligent than the common criminal peasant. 3) Why was there absolutely NO coverage of this criminal trial in the news? Are we assume she was sent to Guantanamo without due process?
Why? I'll tell you why. This story is FAKE NEWS. Complete and utter deception. This was the beginning of the process of the US government's attempt to brainwash the American people. The beginning of their attempt to diminish crypto, and cast it in the light of something that is used on black markets to hurt the U.S. and other Western countries. Hell - Venezuela and their dictator Nick Maduro are even making their own backed by their oil, and Belarus, the final dictatorship in Europe, intends to become a HAVEN for this "Criminal enterprise," I'm sure they'll try to argue.
This entire story is a scam. A disgraceful attempt to deceive people and make the idea of destroying this space that 95% of people around the world DON'T understand a bit more palpable, before more people begin to understand what it's capabilities are.
What's worse? On December 14th, the day this story was initially reported, Bitcoin was trading at just under $17,000; it hit it's high of $20,035 on December 17th - and has been in freefall ever since, with bad news story after bad news story killing any breath of fresh air the price trend begins to take. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Little by little by little - Global governments will try to diminish and destroy something beautiful because they are powerless to completely control it. But they can certainly diminish it. Remain vigilant, and don't believe everything you read. Fight the good fight.

Any criminal with half a brain would never use Bitcoin. Earlier this year you may remember there was a story about how a U.S. lady used "bitcoin" to send money to ISIS - She was arrested. Allegedly. Hey all - so I'm pretty new with mining; I've used Minergate for the past year or so, and I've used coinpot.co for about 6 months for occasional web mining. But how do I set myself up to actually mine coins - say Bitcoin Private. I know I can get a Raspberry Pi maybe or something of that nature, but I wouldn't have a clue as to next steps. Anyone able to shed some light on how to get involved with mining - what I can get (without spending a shit ton of money) to get myself started and in a place where what I'm doing is actually worthwhile financially?
Any suggestions as to good coins to mine / resources etc.
Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance all.
Kenny
