I'm not directly involved in BRAZ but have been mining it quite a bit so I want it to succeed.

There's currently an airdrop running here: https://discordapp.com/channels/439073024940048395/478481167931146240

Me and another member are giving 20+10 BRAZ to anyone who posts an address.

Cheers,

I'm always going to watch these devs and mine their early coins.

Check out PLUS1 coin - now 500 sats on TradeSatoshi https://tradesatoshi.com/Exchange?market=PLUS1_BTC

It will take time but these guys have good connections!

So, I figured out that I could take my bricked A5 and connect the ASIC boards into the controller board of a working A5 and it works fine Smiley

The bricked A5 provides the power and cooling and the working one now gives the workload to all the boards.

Only problem is it only seems to detect 5 boards. 3 from it's own chassis and 2/3 from the bricked A5 even though all 3 LEDs are on.

Any ideas why the controller is only detecting 5 boards out of 6 connected?

Still nice low diff.

Aiming my boys at this Smiley

Ugh, so I bought another A5 and it came without an SD card socket in the hole but at least the hash boards have the "catch fire" capacitor removed already (board revision is A5-33S-V3.0a).

I tried to update the firmware to the Feb 2018 via the web interface and it didn't complete and the fault light started flashing continuously. Left it for 30 mins - no change. Ctrl-F5 - no change.

Rebooted it and it now just flashes the fault red light and is not visible on the network on its configured IP address or the default 192.168.1.254

What are my options?

Try to fit an SD socket so I can flash from TF card?

All combinations of reset button, IP set,  and power-on have had no effect.

Anyone selling an A5 controller board? (e.g. you already fried your hash boards).

Cheers,

FB

Hey guys,

The miner in the picture here is an A5 right?

Hi,

I will download the 22 Dec firmware and try to crack it. It's possible they have made it harder because the only reason they would change the password is if they didn't want people getting root access.

New firmware out today:

Dear
We are presenting you with an extensive A5 and A4+ firmware upgrade that improves the stability and convenience of the miner greatly. For your benefit, your firmware needs to be upgraded to the latest version (no.12.11 version). Here are the upgrades:
1. Fixed the bug that causes hashrate to decrease, making the hashrate more stable.
2. Added a preheating function before booting, partially sovled the decrease in hashrate due to temperature
3. Further optimized the overheat protection system, so that the miner is more stable.

Firmware dodwnload link: http://www.innosilicon.com.cn/download/update.bin
How to upgrade: Follow the appendix of the user manual
Support center: http://www.innosilicon.com/html/downA4/index.html
Thank you for your support of Innosilicon, we will persevere in our efforts to bring you the best user experience.
Please reply this email, thanks very much.
Wish you a good day.

Sorry to hear you guys having same problems as me (red light goes out).

I've got 2 A5s and one of them is rock solid and the other mines on 2 out of 3 boards (red light goes out on the leftmost board).

I'm not convinced about their firmware fixing things and for some it seems to make it worse.

No response to my emails apart from "update firmware". Am probably going to have to try and open mine up and see if I can find anything wrong with the fault board (cabling etc.) and possibly try adding some heatsinks since I think their "wind tunnel" cooling solution is pretty ghetto!

Also, thanks to whoever donated me some BTC for finding the root password.

Cheers,

FB
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon Dashminer A5 problems (bad ASIC chips) on: December 11, 2017, 09:33:39 AM
Hi gvsrusa,

No reply from innosilicon despite sending them diagnostic logs from the bad A5.

The logs suggest it's a temperature problem (board is too hot so gets disabled?)

I've had a few thoughts - the cooling on the A5 seems to be a huge wind tunnel.

Big fans at each end and the boards hang down vertically in this tunnel.

I'm guessing this is their cheap-ass solution to cooling them rather than putting proper heatsink/fans on each ASIC.

I'd have to void the warranty to open it up but I'm considering putting heatsinks on the ASIC chips to see if I can get them cooler.

Cheers,

FB

Assume you've found it now but if not, the micro-SD card slot is to the left of the "IP SET" button on the front of the A5 miner.

Tried the 11.24 firmware on my A5 with the bad ASIC board and that didn't fix it.

I did get an email response to my first website enquiry (the default password had been changed before it arrived) and they just advised to flash the 11.24 firmware.

Stil waiting on a response to my bad ASIC board query where I posted details of the debug (obtained by root telnet).

Thanks to whoever sent me the LTC, it's much appreciated Smiley

gvsrusa I would suggest downloading and writing the firmware to a microSD card as per the innosilicon manual.

Then boot it up using the microSD card in the slot and leave it a couple of hours to flash (not sure exactly how long it takes but the img was several GB).

Then if you can ping it on 192.168.1.254, pop out the card, and reboot the A5.

Assuming you can now access the web interface, download the other firmware (smaller one) and flash that .bin file via the web admin interface.

If that works then after the reboot, re-configure your network and re-enter your mining pool details.

Good luck! I've had no replies at all from Inno via their web support form yet ...

Hmm, that doesn't look good.

Have you tried pulling the cable from the one you think is the bad board?

From memory, my bad chip is in the low 1/3rd so when the light is out on the left board at least my 2 other boards can mine.

If you disconnect the leftmost board (when the A5 is powered off) then does it at least mine on the other 2?

Have you tried re-flashing via microSD card? (I found the download link for this a bit temperamental but got it downloaded in the end and used Win32diskmanager to write it to my microSD card).

Cheers,

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon Dashminer A5 admin access (reset password) on: November 24, 2017, 10:21:37 PM
Yes, the A5 has 264 cores on 33 chips (8 cores per chip).

One of my A5's is having a problem with 1 board so I'm only running at 2/3 capacity.

On my A5, on the left most board, the LED goes out as soon as the mining starts. Do your boards stay lit?

Can you post the entire output of --debug here?

Cheers,

FB

Hey gvsrusa,

Just a thought but are you sure you've got the networking set up right?

If it's not mining then perhaps it can't connect (route) to the pool you've specified?

Check your netmask and gateway are the same as the PC you're using to telnet into the A5?

I'm mining in zpool and here are my details

Code:
URL: stratum+tcp://x11.mine.zpool.ca:3533
Worker: <WALLET_ADDRESS>
Password: c=DASH

Hope that helps!
