1  Other / Meta / Re: Messages for deleted posts - from 4 years ago? on: April 08, 2023, 01:10:04 PM

Looking through the history of posting on the forum, especially 2017-2018, and comparing it with the statistics of sending reports, I came to the conclusion that in those days, the times of ICO and bounty, the moderators simply did not have time to deal with all the spam that was published at that time. There were thousands, tens of thousands of posts of this spam, if not more. Until now, a lot of these low-quality posts, shilling, spam, referral spam, endless duplicates of the same topics, etc., all this is still hanging on the forum. In 2017-2018, bounty spammers pretty much littered this forum. And what is most remarkable, our forum is about bitcoin, and most of all the garbage from the discussion of altcoins. Cheesy

Fair enough  Re: Alt coin spamming.  That's where most of my posts have been, but I'd like to think I was always pretty aware of posting something related to the topic and not simply posting to post a shill/spam comment.   In a matter of minutes I had 22 posts deleted.  It appears this thread made someone go and report all my comments from years ago, lol.

Yeah -  it just seemed odd.  I haven't thought about this forum in a long time.  After years of no sort of activity,  I get an email that one of my posts was deleted.   Then another one today.
3  Other / Meta / Messages for deleted posts - from 4 years ago? on: April 05, 2023, 09:41:21 PM
I've recently received several emails about deleted posts -  only I haven't posted here in years.

Has anyone else experienced old posts getting deleted?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ColossusXT (COLX) Private| Sustainable| Grid Computing - Mandatory Update on: February 12, 2023, 06:24:12 PM
I've always had such a soft spot for COLX -  I so wish it could get some tracking.  But alas, seems be running only on fumes.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ColossusXT (COLX) Private| Sustainable| Grid Computing - Mandatory Update on: September 07, 2020, 09:08:03 PM
Honestly, I am amazed that COLX doesn't have more hype and interest.  I hope with time things pick up,  COLX really deserves it.

Volume is just so low, the price takes wild swings.  I miss the days when it was 2 cents and had over a million USD in volume.  I know we will get back to that at some point.  At least I hope so.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] Genesis $GENX | Payment Ecosystem | Equihash192.7| MNs | v3 Released! on: September 07, 2020, 09:01:12 PM
Genesis Network is swapping to TRC20 token on the Tron Blockchain

Swap begins block 1,070,000. Visit us on discord for more information!

I appreciate all the work you guys are doing. Looking forward to swapping and for bigger and better things for GENX!
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto passive income - a bubble? on: September 07, 2020, 08:19:45 PM
I really don't understand any of it.  The whole DeFi thing has blown up and I'm either too dumb or too lazy to really grasp it.

With most things, it seems like the real money is being made with those that already have plenty of money.   My small amount of X token will generate enough to cover fee's and that's about it.

This shit is dead ...

I don't think it's dead.   They are doing stuff behind the scenes.  Once the code change is established,  I'm sure they will have more lined up and can more forward.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not all crypto apps in App stores are safe on: December 08, 2018, 04:21:22 PM
It's a good idea to bring this up.

It is really easy to get lulled into a false sense of security.  Hey, it is on the official app store,  must be safe, right??         I don't use mobile wallets, but if you do - just go straight to the source,  make it a secondary wallet and only put the crypto you intend to use for that day on it.       That's the only way to minimize your risk.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Top pros and cons of cryptocurrencies / blockchain technology on: December 07, 2018, 10:44:22 PM
I think the main con with crypto is that far too many people try to shoehorn crypto into a blockchain.     At peak hype, everyone was trying to monetize some sort of "decentralization".

Blockchain tech is here to stay and will only gain more adoption and use -  but the speculative trading of crypto is something entirely different and I am somewhat worried that we already had the golden era for it.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] Genesis $GENX | P2P Payment Ecosystem | Equihash192.7 | Airdrops on: December 07, 2018, 02:59:05 AM

Its the season of spending and majority are dumping even at a low price, We can expect 15 sats anytime soon. But this will surely pickup before the year ends in the anticipation of masternode launch by next year

For sure.    I really wish I had an extra 5-10 grand I didn't care about to throw into crypto right now.      I guess if you had that type of money and wouldn't miss it,  it wouldn't be a big deal either way.   But man - this stage in the game is what will make people millionaires.     A few years from now there will be a new breed of crypto investors thinking "Man, I wish I could have been there in late 2018."
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Massive thread quotation can create an eye sore on: December 05, 2018, 02:17:42 PM
Oh gosh, this drives me nuts.      It is way worse on a photography forum I frequent.    People will quote a wall of text and have a one word reply.     Sometimes you have people arguing and quoting the entirety of their messages each time, so you end up scrolling forever.     I swear, a buncha people not knowing how to internet properly.

Some really awesome designs already.    I honestly surprised myself by attempting one and it wasn't total trash, lol -   but really some of the designs are really clean and take the logo up that extra notch.   I have one or two in mind that I hope to see in the finals!
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understand the signature before wearing it on: November 30, 2018, 06:26:00 PM
Darn people and their signatures!   Grin

Really though, I get what you are saying.   I've been involved in a lot of airdrops,   especially mid last year when we had a new ERC-20 airdrop every hour.   It always amazed me how the majority of people couldn't even read basic instructions,  let alone understand what the project was or was not.   People just see free money and flock to it.  It isn't specific to the crypto world.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bull run ain't no Christmas party on: November 29, 2018, 05:35:45 PM
The only thing we can really do is hope things pan out the way they have in the past.     That's why so many people still hodl.

Personally I don't think much of anything will happen this year unless we get some crazy news.    I believe Q1 of 2019 will be the make or break for crypto.     Very likely we will either get a massive run and hit a trillion + marketcap,   or we will continue a downtrend which will last for another year.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] Genesis $GENX | P2P Payment Ecosystem | Equihash192.7 | Airdrops on: November 27, 2018, 10:09:54 PM
Got it.  Thanks!

Only 2 weeks left,  crazy how quickly the time goes.  Before long we will be into 2019 and hopefully a better climate for crypto.        But I will say, the one good thing about this crash is that it weeds out a lot of the scammy projects and scammers.    I'm seeing much more good, hardworking projects like GENX -  just keeping noses down and working for the future.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warren Buffet was right? on: November 24, 2018, 04:34:43 PM
A lot of what Buffet is into can be directly impacted by blockchain and crypto.      He is the epitome of the old guard,  the elite class of money that wants to keep it that way.

If I made trucks full of money off the backs of the poor and working class,  then saw a totally new segment that allowed these people to get a piece of the pie.. I'd do my best to talk it down and convince those people it isn't worth their time.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NIX - Make Bitcoin, altcoins and tokens anonymous with NIX Platform! on: November 23, 2018, 08:40:12 PM

20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Technical Analysis and Fundamental Analysis👀 on: November 21, 2018, 09:46:18 PM
Technical analysis is astrology for traders. It is a pseudo-science that dresses itself up to look like a science, but in fact is not based on anything more than fantasy, superstition, and wishful thinking.

Technical analysis is a textbook demonstration of two logical errors: confirmation bias and survivorship bias.

Confirmation bias: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias
One problem with TA is that nobody actually keeps track of its results. The result is that people remember the times that it worked for them, and they discount or forget the times when it didn't. People want to believe that there is a magic formula so much that they ignore the evidence against it.

Survivorship bias: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_bias
Since TA is based on nonsense, it will randomly get it right sometimes. The odds are 50:50. Some people get lucky using TA and some do not. Basically, the people that get lucky go on believing in TA and promoting it, while everyone else just goes away. That is why you see lots of articles promoting TA, but you never see articles showing some how TA gets it wrong.

If you really believe that TA works, then I strongly suggest that you look at it objectively. Be professional. Take it seriously.
  • Research its failures just as much as you research its successes.
  • It can't all be true. Don't just accept any random bullshit that you read as if it were a fact. Demand evidence.
  • It can't be right or appropriate all the time. At least, learn its shortcomings.
  • Don't be fooled by its popularity. Lot's of people believe that astrology really works, too.

I apologize to the believers in astrology for equating it to something as absurd as Technical Analysis.

    100%

You see all these  TA folks on twitter or forums.   9/10 times they get it wrong, then come up with some excuse for why they were wrong.  Either that or simply delete the tweet and try again.             It's ridiculously easy to make up stuff and sound like you know what you are doing.

Oh XYZ coin is sitting at support with a descending triangle.   If it breaks resistance here, I'm looking to short.

Boom...just made that up off the top of my head, lol.
