5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using crypto to help the homeless - (for real - with pics!) on: September 27, 2020, 03:46:20 PM
It's nice to know that there are such caring people in the world. And even despite some circumstances, you continue your work.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The meme that started it all - "Magic internet money Join Us!" on: September 27, 2020, 03:38:05 PM
In the new version, this is definitely Gandalf the Gray, that is what he was in the trilogy. Remember Dumbledore, he is a good-natured old man and he looks more like picture number 1. Although the hat on Gandalf is definitely from Harry Potter.
And, of course, both versions are commendable.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A woman has been arrested in the United States for hiring a killer with bitcoin on: September 27, 2020, 03:29:07 PM

Well its only just to arrest someone who violates the law, this as far as I know is attempted murder. Apparently she is using bitcoin to pay is just not making it bad for the reputation. It would have been good if coindesk also get the whole story as to why she wanted the guy dead.

Yes. Hiring a killer should be done in a chain and with familiarity.
Not directly

Unfortunately, people think that everything is like a movie Cheesy

I'd say it shouldn't be done at all Wink

There was a case years ago in the US where a woman tried this "chain" youre talking about. She contacted her friend and asked if he could help her find a killer because she wants to get rid of her husband. The guy went straight to the police and they sent an undercover officer to record her describing all the details.

Don't do it people!

I've seen this on TV. She still deny even after arrested. Seen lots of crime documentary, reasons are mostly about money, new love and kid's custody.

I would also add violence to your list as a reason to take revenge on the offender in the same way, but only more "effectively".
Perhaps her husband beat her, perhaps also threatened her with violence.
And in general, apparently, this woman did everything quickly, was emotionally unstable and didn't know much about cryptocurrency transactions, so she made so many mistakes.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Celebrity Bitcoin owners? on: September 26, 2020, 06:55:55 PM
All sources that mention celebrities and bitcoin usually write that these same celebrities support cryptocurrencies and, possibly, own them. It's unlikely that anyone wants to share information about the amount of bitcoins that they have in their wallet. Be that as it may, it's great that people like Lionel Messi, Hugh Laurie, Johnny Depp, Madonna and others are in one way or another among the crypto enthusiasts.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brand new to bitcoin and need some help on: September 26, 2020, 06:37:31 PM

EDIT: I looked at the "receive" tab, but didn't see anything labeled "address".

I understand that you don't even know HOW the address should look like, right? It's a set of numbers and letters (26-35 characters) that start with the number 1, 3, or bc1. For example, bc1qar0srrr7xfkvy5l643lydnw9re59gtzzwf5mdq - this is the address. But perhaps I just misunderstood you and you figured it out.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roskomnadzor blacklists Binance in Russia on: September 25, 2020, 07:08:46 PM

I'm actually more interested in what this "prohibited information" was.

Binance has already published on their website an official appeal to users, which says what kind of prohibited information it was - "this is information about the possibility of purchasing electronic cryptocurrency (Bitcoin)."
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Education on: September 25, 2020, 06:56:24 PM
I don’t think it’s necessary to teach Bitcoin together with mathematical details at school or university. It is enough to correctly convey the idea and purpose of creating bitcoin to students. And those who want to delve into the technical specifications can take additional lessons.
There was also a topic here recently about a guy who wrote or was about to write a scientific work about Bitcoin. In my opinion, this is also a great idea to popularize the technology.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Why criminals prefer cash (Fiat) on top of crypto? on: September 25, 2020, 06:43:43 PM
As an option: criminals prefer cryptocurrencies less because of their volatility. Since they know that sooner or later they will be caught, they seek to get rich here and now, using the familiar and more stable fiat currency.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you still hodling that shitcoin? on: September 24, 2020, 06:58:20 PM
I also have a lot of coins that have no value. All of them came from bounty campaigns and an uncountable number of airdrops, in which I constantly participated when I first started learning about cryptocurrencies. 80% of them are unlikely to ever come to life.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The biggest AIRDROP in the history of cryptocurrency on: September 24, 2020, 06:51:31 PM
It's true that many have missed this giveaway. Some considered the project a scam, while others simply didn't follow it. I like Uniswap and use this platform and therefore I'm one of the airdrop contributors.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: And this is how you make 'easy' money riding the Defi on: September 24, 2020, 06:36:48 PM
Nowadays many crypto people are investing on defi and like defi so much. I myself still want to know more about Defi, of course I plan to invest but still need to observe first, I always got scam that is why I will invest to a high earnings business.

This love didn't just appear. Why are so many people so passionate about DeFi projects? Because they saw the unrealistic amounts that the "lucky ones" managed to get. Among my friends, crypto enthusiasts, there are those who took the risk and got rich. Some just picked project at random and pulled out a lucky ticket. I'm not a particularly risky person, and at some points I regret it.
17  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin dont pay our billls we need passive income on: September 23, 2020, 07:19:45 PM
Some people really think that someone should think for them how they will live and how they will pay their bills. This position is unacceptable to me. I'm sure that everyone should provide for themselves, get food, give birth to children for themselves, and not with the thought that the state should help. To do this, we wake up every day and take up work, no one will do it for us and is not obliged to do it. Let's become more responsible and hardworking and stop relying on someone.
And by the way, with the help of Bitcoin, I have been paying not only bills, but also my other needs for several years.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: Internet shutdowns by governments are bad for corporate marketing on: September 23, 2020, 07:03:50 PM
Before internet, people have been doing business and there are even companies that have survived for centuries and during those dark days, that was when they witnessed some of their massive growth. Internet comes with its own advantage but it does not means that without it, people wont still find a way to transact and do business with one another. Now when government shut down the internet, while businesses whose existence relied on that, they would surely have their reason for doing that and that is what the citizens needs to find out whether their reasons are valid or not.

Of course it's possible. Many of us remember the time without the Internet, when everyone and everything worked "offline". But now almost all databases are digitized, the supply of goods to stores and supermarkets is completely tied to the connection to the network, as is the supply of drugs to pharmacies. The delivery itself is carried out using navigators. And so on. In fact, almost any company can work without the Internet, but it will take a very large amount of time and effort.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Your eyes can help your economy, please protect it for your good. on: September 23, 2020, 06:42:45 PM
My father also had vision problems. And I very well remember how angry he was that he couldn't clearly see this or that thing, all his actions were labored due to vision problems. Until I convinced him to see a doctor. Now for several years he has been living a full life and I'm very glad that we didn't miss the moment and save his eyesight in time. In addition, for those who spend a lot of time in front of the monitor of their computer, and then immediately switch to the screen of their smartphone, there are special drops for dry eyes. Some people really need it, don't waste time, visit a doctor.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Sales of wedding rings are increasing on: September 22, 2020, 08:29:41 PM
I noticed among my friends and acquaintances that despite the general crisis and pandemic, many decided to give birth to a second (and some even a third) child, and also several people decided to buy a home on a mortgage. It would seem that such decisions during a crisis are not entirely advisable, but life goes on and many people decide to take risks.
