Well said, Phillip.
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: November 07, 2019, 06:15:45 PM
After running the Newpacs and r606 for over a year on an increasingly unreliable Windows laptop, I made the switch to Linux on two different Raspberry pi setups and man, what a difference. The six Newpacs running on a Gekko Science hub with a pi3 are putting out about 250 Ghs, while the 3 Newpacks on another GS hub that are running with an r606 on a pi4 are putting out close to 1 Ths. Not only are they running faster, but they appear to be running more stable. Of course, the pi's are connected with ethernet cables, and the hp laptop was wifi only, but there seems to be no USB bottleneck, especially on the pi4. Got so tired of waking up only to find that the laptop had either rebooted or dropped wifi connection in the middle of the night. It has been a long while since I monkeyed with Unix OS at work (now retired) but it proved to be surprisingly easy to setup and run, especially with the instructions in the forum. My ancient command line skills seem to be returning, just like riding a bicycle. Thanks all for maintaining this forum to help people get up and running.

I have only tried asic boost on Kano.is, where I believe there is an almost flawless implementation.

Unfortunately, I found this to be true, also. I am running 6 newpac and three 2-pac sticks at 175MHz on a 49-port eyeboot hub, along with four more newpac sticks, two each on two 10-port Sipolar hubs. With each new release of cgminer 4.11.1, I attempt to use asic boost. It always results in numerous nonce errors on different sticks which forces my hashing rate down by a good 200ghs or more. Once I remove the asic boost  statement and restart, it stabilizes and I am no longer seeing the nonce errors. I also have two Terminus pods plugged into the hubs, but it does not seem to be related to USB bandwidth. With Terminus at 200MHz, newpacs at 175MHz, and 2-pacs at 100MHz, I average 600ghs. It took me awhile to figure out that asic boost was causing my problems, and I hope on a future release of cgminer that I will be able to safely use it for the power savings and reduced USB traffic.

I am very impressed with the Sidehack hardware and the Eyeboot and Sipolar hubs (and this is not a compensated endorsement).  Cheesy

Got my order from CrazyGuy, and all is well.

Man, these Newpacs work great! They are consistently putting out three times the hash of the 2pacs, and not one of them has gone Zombie overnight. I think these things are a keeper. Double my hash rate for USB miners overall, and still in the same power envelope.

Great job, Sidehack. Eagerly awaiting the new USB hub you are engineering.

I have two orders in with CrazyGuy. One for over a month, one for a week. Both are still showing as processing. I have left a message on his board and replied to his shipment e mail, and I have heard nothing in return. Starting to get a little concerned.

Outstanding! Just ordered four from ASICPuppy. Will be pointing these at Johnny's Gambling Hall, and Kano. Hope they play well with my other 2pac and Terminus miners.

I promise to tip toe very quietly ..... wouldn't want to wake anyone up here.

Been flip flopping my USB gear between here and Kano, trying to stay above dust levels there while still trying for a trillion shares here.  Grin

It was not until I broke through 1.7 TH/s average that I got my first real payment.

Also, we are seeing rain here for the first time in our beautiful, drought stricken High Desert.

I'm sorry if I didn't make my last post clear enough. At night, running one hash board of an S9, I average 4THs. During the day, I get close to 200 GHs average on USB miners. The AVERAGE daily hash rate and my Shift Graph is barely above 2THs. I suspect with this setup alone I will not be above dust levels for much longer, given the rising difficulty.

And thank you again for all the nice folks who have helped me out here.

Thanks to some timely advice by many here and on Discord (my thanks to all) I am finally above the dust level. I had been mining on and off with mostly USB miners and for a while with an S3 and then an S5. Out of 181 rewards since last September, I have about 350,000 satoshi in dust payments sitting on the pool. I don't think I ever posted about it, as I see Bitcoin as a long term investment. But I did hop to a few other pools until I figured out how this thing worked. I avoided the Chinese pools, but went for the one with the glitzy interface and the (smaaaall) daily payments, even though I had to set the threshhold high and then manually trigger one.

So I am happy now to relate that with the collapse of BitMain miner prices, I got an S9 from E-Bay for $399 and have been running it each night. Now at twenty cents a kWh, I am only powering one hash board and turn it off each morning, but it still is enough to get over the dust limit for the last dozen blocks. During the day, I run my little USB miners pointed at Kano, to keep my hash rate from dropping to absolute zero. Maybe I will eventually go to co-location, if I can find a site that is not shutting down due to cost over runs.

So, as far as I am concerned, Kano should take as much time as it takes to do a complete and thorough job on the accounting code, including thorough testing cycles. After all, I would hate for him to overpay me on my dust, and then I would have to send him some of it back.  Grin

Received two Terminus machines from Sidehack.

At first, these bad boys felt very hot to the touch. Then I got some one inch tall rubber feet from Amazon to get them raised up a little. Now they feel very cool to the touch. Apparently giving them some extra ventilation room for the bottom of the pod is quite beneficial.

Quite happy with these units.

I now have two brand new shiny Terminus 808 pods from Sidehack pointed at the pool, in addition to my 8 2Pac USB stickminers.

Now I am playing with power.  Wink

Hello. New to this forum and to Bitcoin mining.

Like the concept and layout of this pool. I was mining at Kano, but it would take me six months for a minimum payout with my tiny hashing power. Using two sidehack 2-pac sticks atmo, so measuring less than 1% of total pool hashpower.

Not a gambler by nature but figured with my little toy mining rig I may as well play the lotto.

Read through all the forum posts but the blockchain math and such really makes my head hurt.

I think I may stay here a while, and who knows, I may be expanding my little mining rig a bit some day.

I think I am starting to grasp how the pool works and if you guys can use a steady 22 Gh/s I will keep pointing it this way.
