1  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks against the crypto on: March 15, 2019, 04:47:54 AM
The bankers use politicians to get what they want done. While we are busy theoretically debating if crypto will crush banks, they have boots on the ground carrying out their plan. Check this out.

https://news.bitcoin.com/texas-representative-wants-to-ban-the-anonymous-use-of-cryptocurrency/

As one of the users commented:
"This is not limited to just anonymous cryptocurrencies like Zcash. The way it is written even Bitcoin and Ethereum would be affected. I bet the bill was written by the the Banks and they just gave it to Stephenson to push it. Texas is probably just the testing ground, before something like this is pushed at the federal level. Once this is established in one country, it will be easy for other countries to copy. This bill makes it very clear how the banks plan to attack cryptocurrencies. Everyone in the world who supports cryptocurrencies, must act now to stop this bill.
You may think that these politicians don't know what they are doing and they won't be able to stop anyone determined to use cryptocurrencies since there is no way to enforce it. That's very true, but the problem is that the 90%+ of the people who have not adopted cryptocurrencies yet never will because of this bill. Those who are using crypto will now always remain a minority and over time be looked at more and more suspiciously causing them to leave. Eventually decentralized payment networks created by the people will die out as people leave. This is the beginning of the end for cryptocurrencies, if we just sit back and let this bill pass."
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT on: October 22, 2018, 08:06:35 PM
I hate to say this folks, but this looks like another BitConnect in the making. I didn't bother to read past the first post by Thymos because this looked too much like a scam. I can't believe the admin of this site sold out to these guys. They must be paying him very good. Not sure what country this site is based out of, but if it was in the US, he could get slammed by the SEC for saying things like "GUARANTEED PROFIT".
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ember: An instant and feeless cryptocurrency for the future. on: October 22, 2018, 05:05:01 AM
Sounds like a great project. EmberCrypto, can you PM me. I was not able to PM you since I have newbie status and your setting don't allow messages from newbies. Thanks.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XST] stealthcoin.com | Tor | StealthText | BlockNet | PoD 5+ on: July 25, 2017, 07:23:03 PM
I don't understand this delisting policy.
XST has enough trading volume, more than a lot of other coins out there...

It was supposed to be delisted on the 14th, but as of today it has not been delisted. I don't think it's going to be delisted. Maybe Bittrex made that announcement to get cheap coins. They are the only exchange listing XST and an announcement like that would cause panic selling since you can't even move the coins to another exchange. They probably bought the coins cheap and now selling it make some money. Who knows maybe they might make the announcement again in the future on this or another coin (listed only on their exchange) to rinse and repeat.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unikoingold ANN Thread? Where it is? on: June 30, 2017, 10:10:57 PM
You are probably not going to find any ANN thread for this token. According to the whitepaper (https://s3.amazonaws.com/static.unikoingold.com/whitepaper.pdf) the token has existed for a couple of years already as Unikoin, but can only be used within the companies (Unikrn)  platform for items the company provides. They are now going to call the existing Unikoin tokens UnikoinSilver and create an Ethereum token called UnikoinGold.

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethbits Crowdsale (ICO) MORE THAN 13644 ETH RAISED ! on: June 16, 2017, 08:21:32 PM
I tried to sign up on the ethbits.com site, but got an error message about "something went wrong ...". I looked at the list of sellers and currently there seems to be only one seller.  This project doesn't look good.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BCAP] THE FIRST DIGITAL LIQUID VENTURE FUND - BLOCKCHAIN CAPITAL FUND on: May 23, 2017, 12:38:03 AM
Will the BCAP token every be listed on US exchanges. The only exchange right now is in Ukraine. I'm thinking that since this token is more of a security than a utility token and will come under SEC review, it's likely the US exchanges will not touch it.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: May 02, 2017, 03:06:09 AM
Pretty sure KMD will be added on polo cuz they are delisting BTCD and Unity!
BTCD? Do you see it in the list?

"On May 2, 2017, the following will be delisted: BBR, BITS, C2, CURE, HZ, IOC, MYR, NOBL, NSR, QBK, QORA, QTL, RBY, SDC, UNITY, VOX, XMG"

The large marketcap coins which are not already on Polo ahead of KMD are (in order of MC):
PIVX
DGD DigixDAO
SNGLS SingularDTV
BCC BitConnect
ROUND
RLC iExecRLC
ICN Iconomi
GBYTE Byteball
1ST FirstBlood
EMC Emercoin
MLN MelonCapital
KMD Komodo

Since there are only 11 ahead of KMD, I guess that gives a good chance to be listed on Polo.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: May 01, 2017, 05:37:53 PM
I'm very new to this coin and still try to learn about, so I'm sorry if this question is obvious, but I wasn't able to find an answer.

Does anyone know what the max supply of KMD will be. Initially 100M were created and it seems there is a 5% APR to the supply for a number of years and it will gradually lower to 0%. Has anyone calculated what the eventual supply of KMD will be.

Any idea when the Agama App will allow converting KMD to pegged currencies?

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lisk ICO Scam on: March 28, 2016, 05:00:19 AM
I was trying the second link which is now very prominent. I didn't know the first link was still available. I see it now after looking under the ICO area (which I would have never thought to do since the ICO is over). When I login at the first link I do see my exchange. What a relief.

OK, maybe I over reacted in my panic of seeing a zero balance, but it would really help if a link to the first login could be provided from the main lisk.io page.

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Lisk ICO Scam on: March 27, 2016, 11:20:15 PM
On March 15th I sent in 2 BTC to the Lisk ICO and my online wallet at login.lisk.io was showing that I had 31731 LISK. I check my wallet today and the balance shows as zero. I try to login to chat.lisk.io to ask about it and it says my password is incorrect (even though I have saved it in a password manager and had used it previously to login). When I try have the password reset I never get the email. I try to create a new chat login account with another email and still don't get any email from Lisk.io; even checked the spam folder.

Right now I feel like Lisk was a scam. My Lisk address is: 16504865948547734056L
and my public key is c16f78e980e90eaab387202b8a64f0b8f3338ab8b92b4493b74db2c08d25df69

I don't even see them in the block explorer tool: explore.lisk.io.

Since I can't seem to get into chat, I have no option but to post for help here. I would appreciate it if a Lisk admin could help me out with this.

What's the status of Momentum POW? Was it used in Bitshares? Is it used in any coin?
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Police Raid Home of Alleged "Bitcoin Creator" Craig Wright on: December 09, 2015, 07:31:39 AM
It's not related to his involvement with bitcoin. What a coincidence that the raid happens within hours of the news article. They are definitely after that private key with the huge stash of bitcoin  Cheesy

http://coinwik.org

A quick way to research a coin. A great way for coin dev's to introduce their coin.

Also has lists of all sites related to altcoins such as news sites, pools, chart sites, etc.

Feedback/suggestions welcome. Changes and updates to the wiki are welcome.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of all cryptocoins on: May 26, 2014, 02:56:15 PM
I have created a wiki dedicated to keeping track of all the alt coins. I hope it will be useful for anyone looking to quickly find facts and links to a coin they are researching. With all the new coins coming out, I can use some help with keeping the wiki updated. If you have a favorite coin that you follow, please consider helping out by keeping the page for that coin updated.
