1  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Block Erupter USB owners won't make ROI??? on: June 18, 2013, 12:43:07 PM
If the price of bitcoins goes up, there will be a (not in nominal, but in value i.e. in gold) profit.

Admittedly it would have been a lot easier to just buy bitcoins to make that bet.

Edit: there is also another upside: mined bitcoins are truly anonymous which can motivate a premium in high-friction transactions..
2  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are BFL Jalapeņos worth it? on: May 27, 2013, 06:05:54 PM
With increasing difficulty would purchasing a BFL Jalapeņo even be worth it?

No, because BFL are likely mining themselves until the difficulty gets silly. (And that is just a matter of months now, GPU mining will be obsolete in August)
3  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] FPGA breakout boards 0.15 BTC incl shipping on: May 18, 2013, 02:44:01 PM

Price includes shipping using letter with bubblewrap.

Made 10 of these breakout boards (2mm raster), but I really only need one.

They are designed for EP3C25E144 (CycloneIII) but will work with any QFP144  chip. It's the largest FPGA you can hand solder.

The "extra rows" are duplicate connections for the VCC and GND pins that are otherwise spread out around the chip.

I understand spammers are a problem but this is just lame. Why not use captcha like everybody else? I, and probably a lot of other people, have been reading this forum for a long time without posting anything. Until a yesterday when I wanted to sell some FPGA PCBs breakout boards for BTC and post an ad.

Who could have guessed you should register just to read? I probably set the browser on autoreload or something tonight. What a waste of time.

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are GPU's needed? on: May 14, 2013, 07:12:44 PM
Your PC got one or a few very advanced processor(s). A GPU have thousands of very simple ones. They can not do that much each but it adds up.
9  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: May 14, 2013, 07:10:18 PM
