Everything (pool/website) is down? Sad

Edit: Pool seems to be back after just 6 minutes. Grin
2  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ubuntu Natty Narwhal 11.04 Mining Guide / HOWTO on: May 21, 2011, 08:48:38 AM
How do I get two video cards working using this guide? I have 2 x ATI 5970 cards, but only one of them works right now. I can mine on both of the GPUs on the first card, but the second card does not show up as an "adapter" at all. How can I fix this? Huh

Windows

This is most likely your problem... Roll Eyes

Seriously... in Windows, my hash rate varies wildly, but Linux is rock-solid. Cheesy

Maintenance took quite a bit longer than expected due to MySQL being very unhappy about moving to a new drive, which interfered with time I had set aside for my day job.

Pool is back online now, and the new drive is screaming fast compared to the old one!  Some additional updates were run on the pool, so please keep an eye out for any display glitches in your stats.

Now that the hardware and software has been upgraded, I can return to working on the features I wanted to get done last weekend.

Thanks for everything! Cheesy

The pool is back up! Cheesy

I could tell right away cuz my video card fans started spinning fast again. Wink

Rename worker is disabled until the hardware switch.  The default pushpool method of storing workers in the share database is by username as a text field.  Meaning to accurately swap a worker's name, the entire share database needed updating.

With tomorrow's maintenance, I'm changing the pushpool software to use worker and user IDs rather than text names, and the ability to rename workers will be restored.

Cool, thanks! Smiley

In other news: I found a block!! Now we can say goodbye to that long round. Cheesy

The pool is back up and the idle miner warnings I was getting before are gone.
Good job eleuthria!

Yay! Cheesy

Edit: By the way, where is the rename worker option? I can't seem to find it...
10  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fee Mining Pool (Long polling, JSON API) on: May 17, 2011, 08:05:12 PM
Pool will be down for approximately 5 minutes to prune all the confirmed block shares out of the DB.  This will hopefully allow the pool to keep up with the current hash rate until the new hardware arrives tomorrow.

Long 5 minutes is long... Undecided

Why is the Stale Share rate so high now? I used to be getting less than 1%, but since the update it's been more like 2-3%... Sad

There was a problem with the long polling monitor earlier this morning which has been corrected.  I was also making a few tweaks to prepare for what will probably be the final hardware upgrade (solid state drive for the database) this Thursday.  However, the slight backend tweaks should not have produced stale results like what you're referring to.

If you're running a slower miner (CPU/low end GPU), the stale % likely spiked due to the long polling monitor problem.

Thanks! It seems to be clearing up now. Smiley

(I'm GPU mining on my 5970.)

Yes.  Those errors should not be seen again, at least until we find another block.  I'm reworking the block calculation code right now so it won't lock up the database during calculations.  Depending on which happens first (completing the rewrite or a block being found), we may have another set of RPC/Miner idle errors for about 2 minutes when we find our next block.

Looks like you have plenty of time... this block is taking forever! Sad
14  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best Case and Power Supply for 4 x ATI 5970 Setup? on: May 13, 2011, 01:28:36 PM
Given all the costs you need for insane case, solid cooling, then the risk you're taking of slamming all of that heat/power into such a tight space, I've found it is smarter to just build out 2x seperate machines.  Decent off the shelf cases that are sub $60 can handle 2x 5970's rather well.  The asus EVO motherboard is fairly cheap but works great.  I spend about $100 more than you would spend trying to force it all into a single setup.

Also side bonus, if for some reason the box eats it, only 1/2 your mining power is down.

Yep, I'm going with a 2 x 5970 per box setup. Each box will only cost me about $360 before the video cards (or more like $320 for the first two boxes, since I already have 2 extra hard drives). Smiley
15  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best Case and Power Supply for 4 x ATI 5970 Setup? on: May 13, 2011, 01:26:12 PM
Thanks man! Do you think it would be possible to use the 750W version then?
No. You don't want a PSU to run 24/7 so close to full capacity.

And you should consider getting an 80 Plus Gold PSU instead, like Seasonic X-850 or Corsair AX850.

Oh yeah huh. Cheesy

So going 80 Plus Gold is to save on power, right? Luckily, I won't be paying for the electricity. Wink

Hey guys, so I've decided to go with 2 x 5970s per rig after all. It turns out that I can build a minimal box for less than $200 per card that way (i.e., less than $400 total allows me to run 2 cards).

How much PSU do I need for 2 x 5970s and minimal other hardware? (Sempron 140 CPU, 1 GB DDR3 RAM, etc...)

Edit: How about something like this? http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Enthusiast-Certified-compatible-platforms/dp/B004MYFODS

It's got 70A on a single 12V rail. Cheesy

I use that exact PSU in two 2x5970 rigs (CPU is also Sempron 140). Total power drain is around 650W without OC and slightly above 700W with clocks around 850Mhz.

Thanks man! Do you think it would be possible to use the 750W version then?

In any case, I'll have some new miners up and running soon! Cheesy

heh, i noticed that too. and the site reports a total share count of 0 on it. but the personal shares were stored correctly and the payout was correct. yay!

So I should get Infinity BTC, right? Wink

377/0 * 50 BTC = Infinity BTC Cheesy
