1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcing ... THE MIGHTY YETI SPORTSBOOK on: December 30, 2014, 11:40:54 PM
Lack of trust notwithstanding, I am open again!  Back from the holidays, and I hope you all had some good food with your family.

Rebooting in safe mode took care of it, as well as "mount --all" ... Whatever it was, I won't worry about it, since I am pending a move to a reliable host.

http://jj30.chickenkiller.com/

I'm building a DEV box. I'm only on my 2nd paycheck ... after Christmas, no less! ... which of course means that I won't be able to return to development until at least this weekend.

I plan to add Championship and Bundesliga before spread betting. Feel free to drop me a line, even if it is merely a single bold-red word! I am staunchly against censorship, so if you feel you need to let loose, my twitter is still https://twitter.com/kg78755033, and my email is still kraftgottes@gmail.com.

Happy New Year,
JJ30

The after-math from your post

Your rank: Member
Your twitter acc: 0 followers, and tweets only about bet sites,
from your history posts you seem not to have any coding skills, since 0 , code-dev talks with others
You said you are broke to rent a hosting service..
Plus we are in crypto-land

So my guess is you are a bad gambler, im not sure what are you trying to do. but def im not gonna trust you any of my btc

They're not btc. They're doge coin.

I'm trying to launch a sportsbook.

Do you not see the irony in demanding transparency to be trusted? I don't think you guys do. You and the other guy... seem to think that I have to have a large internet trail to be trusted. Of course, I am familiar with this, but I honestly don't understand how smart one has to be to apply "Well, if you don't want to be private, you must have something to hide" to an online persona.

And, trust me, I am a human being. I am not a bot. I am definitely a person.

So I find people's rush AGAINST privacy to be really ironic, in that it comes from the people themselves, and it is against their own privacy, by transitivity. Such as in this instance.

As for being broke, it's very American to look down on people who have no money. That's ironic, too. I can't be trusted because I have no money. Look at Goldman Sachs. Selling toxic assets to their CLIENTS. Can they be trusted, having all the money in the world? Owning ten to 15 percent of our planet?

So from now on, I'll only be answering people who are trying to place bets. If y'all don't mind. Neither of you have clicked, or bet. And you, sir, are not going to trust me with your bitcoin -- you didn't even trust me enough to click on the links, to see that the site does NOT accept bitcoins.

I will from now on address myself only to serious inquiries. In case I didn't make it clear, I am trying to start a sportbook. I will next attempt 1) spread betting 2) over-unders 3) I want to triple the actual number of sports and leagues.

Thanks,
JJ30
PS. Given the HUGE amount of interest my announcement has made, I'm decreasing the automated payout from 3 hours (increasing I guess) to 6 hours. No point in hammering google every 3 hours right now, not that every 3 hours will get me blacklisted. I think given the MASSIVE amounts of bets that have been placed, six hours is going to be fine.

SCAM

Not a scam. But thanks for your input. I really mean that. It's not easy putting yourself out there. In fact, it's my first time.

The site represents a few months of coding, but it does appear from your 0.05 second input that another few months are required to implement spread betting, over-unders and parlays.

Thanks for shitting on my efforts. It's the internet, 2015 (in a few days), I should know I'm going to get shit on, and sure as shit, you did it!
Thanks a third time,
JJ30
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Announcing ... THE MIGHTY YETI SPORTSBOOK on: December 19, 2014, 01:19:18 AM
Short Story:

I am launching a sportsbook and calling it the Mighty Yeti Sportsbook. We (I) have NFL lines, NCAA lines, La Liga, EPL and MLS (starting in March).

It's a very humble beginning, I assure you! However, WE (I) ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

http://miteyetitorzkf7k.onion/
http://jj30.chickenkiller.com/

Long Story:

I was born in a small town just south of Wyoming, towards the eveni ... Just kidding! The long story is that I've been working for some time now with just a few nickels to show for it. My salary is low, and kept low by market forces that never play fair. (I wish I could even say they sometimes played fair). I feel I have to do something on my own to better my financial condition, because it sure isn't getting better on its own.

Anticipated questions:

1. Why should I trust The Mighty Yeti?

You SHOULDN'T, at least not by default. I will EARN your trust. The way that I want to earn trust is by achieving a 15-minute payout. Right now, payouts are running every three hours or so, and are only automated for large, popular games.

Also, I am launching it in Dogecoin. I'm not saying you can't be ripped off in dogecoin, because you can, but I want to build your trust over time, and that means at first small amounts (max bet is 7,000 dogecoin). The max bet is always going to be about one-tenth of my holdings. This is so I never have to worry about going bust (at least statistically, I won't).

2. Why TOR?

I'm broke. Can't afford hosting. And I would have to pay for hosting in bitcoin to avoid detection by the three-letter agency that basically tries to turn the average American upside-down and shake 'em, and has been doing that since July 9, 1953. I get letters from them all the time and they are NEVER like, "Hey man, let's hang out for a beer or two downtown."

When I get enough scratch for bitcoin hosting, I will move to it, but I will still operate on the darknet at the "MiteYetiTor" site above. For now, TOR will have to do. Unfortunately, TOR users will have to turn on javascript for navigation, but if you inspect my javascript, you will find it innocuous.

3. How can I contact you?

My contact info is on the 'Contact us' page at the site. I maintain a twitter identity: kg78755033. I also am kraftgottes at gmail dott com. Lastly, I am JJ30 here at bitcointalk, for some time now. Feel free to use any and all.

I will tell you a story about why you can trust me. When I was 5 or so, I left a 7-11 with a pack of gum. My dad saw me chewing it and said, "Where'd you get that gum?"

We ended up driving back to the 7-11. I didn't know I had to pay for stuff. The lady behind the counter said, "It's okay, he can keep it," but my dad made me give it back so that I would learn what's mine and what is NOT mine.

Fast forward some 20+ years later, I was at a stri... adult establishment for heterosexual males featuring dancers -- and I was walking and a girl dropped a wad. I picked it up and counted it. It was $400. It took me 15 minutes to give it back (I won't lie!) but I know now that I did the right thing. I have never stolen anything in my life! This is why you can trust me. That was the only time I was ever tempted, because at that time, $400 would have helped. I gave it back and she didn't even say thanks. But it doesn't matter, now my not-stealing streak is 30+ years.

Have I left anything out? Reach out to me!
Thanks,
JJ30
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit Blocked Our Pro-Bitcoin, Anti-Banking Site BanksWorstFear.com - entirely on: September 20, 2014, 09:57:36 PM
Ignorance of the rules is not a defense. Most sites do not like their content being manipulated, which is clearly the intent of paying users to post.
I don't think the OP was ignorant to the rules, I think he thought he would not get caught trying to buy upvotes. IMO the intention of this was to try to increase the value of his domain (he has it listed for sale in the digital goods section)

I wasn't paying anyone to upvote or manipulate a reddit community. I CREATED the subreddit.

The last four commenters don't understand the story.

Imagine you had a study group inside a starbucks and you paid someone on the street a quarter to go in and participate.

Then you get banned for life from starbucks

That's how this is. Completely unreasonable. No warning, over-use of force. Very bad to their reputation for a site that is community and (free) speech driven.

There is a scene in the matrix in which Morpheus cautions Neo that some have become so dependent upon the matrix that they will defend it to their deaths.

And reddit, in my experience, has an element of this. There are people who will absolutely not listen to any point that you make, unless that point is pro-reddit.

What this is, IMO, is a fundamental belief that change comes through majority rule. If I am truly open-minded, and I consider your perspective, your view, and come to understand it, I may find myself of split mind where I am able to understand EVERY other perspective ... and this, to many, is dangerous. How can I condemn you if I understand you? And how can I defend myself without attacking and obliterating my enemy through my  condemnation? Why would I nail someone to a tree (the death penalty) if I didn't believe condemnation was GOOD?

The biggest obstacle to peace is the belief in war. That peace comes FROM war. That's not just reddit, that's humanity. But on reddit, the manifestation is that you can't be liberal, because it becomes an infection of sorts, resulting in disease: spam and trolls. What's a troll? An attempt to dehumanize so that whatever you do will be excusable, so long as you aren't doing it to a human being.

When reddit starts realizing that trolls are people, just like them, I may consider going back. But I left after four years and am much happier now because of it.

This is my last post on the subject by the way. I just wanted to say to BanksWorstFear that you're not alone, no matter how alone you feel, or reddit, or bitcointalk makes you feel.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit Blocked Our Pro-Bitcoin, Anti-Banking Site BanksWorstFear.com - entirely on: September 20, 2014, 09:49:49 PM
Bingo!

This has nothing to do with free speech, this has to do with paid speech appearing to be the speech of the community. There is a very big difference. Paid speech appearing to be the speech of the community/people is fraud.
[/quote]

Ha. So the Supreme Court just ruled that campaign donations are a form of free speech.

So how big a difference is "very big" now?

I've actually eaten spam. My dad used to like it. It's not very expensive. Apparently, in Samoa spam is hugely popular, due to island GI's.... etc.

So it's still a "free speech" issue, because you can't just go around enforcing your definition of spam. And even if you could, you shouldn't, because eventually they come for you. You may not be bald now, or old... but you will be. And will you want to be at the mercy of the whims of the hive mind which you think is (now) your protection? Safety in numbers? Not for lemmings.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit Blocked Our Pro-Bitcoin, Anti-Banking Site BanksWorstFear.com - entirely on: September 16, 2014, 01:59:52 AM
If I were bitcointalk (or BanksWorstFear), I would wear it as a badge of honor. I am not bullshitting.

Reddit, in many ways, is a miscreation. Crowd-sourcing is great when you want to hear a pretty girl sing on TV. But it's really awful in any "social" network.

When I was in school, we were taught, "Majority rule, minority rights." Does reddit represent minority rights? I don't think so. "Majority rule, majority rights" ... Why? Because the majority itself upvoted it, naturally. Do minorities even have rights on reddit? (Obviously not.)

In my opinion, there is a "pearls before swine" aspect to reddit. I actually only found bitcointalk.org when I gave up on reddit completely because I just couldn't stand it anymore, and found myself brimming with indignation. I am much happier having left reddit.

I hope one day you will be too.

[I do not think it appropriate to ban anyone for any reason, ever. Of course they will say "oh, spam!" but that's just the majority putting labels on things again. One man's spam is another man's tofurkey. The same for "troll." If you really look at it, labeling someone a troll is an attempt to dehumanize them so that you can ban them without feeling bad. Goodwin's law aside, if you're to let majority rule WITHOUT minority rights, you're only separated by the Nazi's by 50 years and 5,000 miles.]

Bit365 has ignored my messages for over a month.  The last time we spoke he said he appreciated my patience but that is all but gone now.  He still owes me 28 BTC from 6 months ago!

Yeah, I wouldn't bother having any more hope that he'll give you back squat. He's simply a giant asshole whose whole intention was to scam everyone when he first set out. Has anyone bothered to try and dox him yet?

Yes. I was not able to determine his identity. I spent several days. I even tried that github project to show all bitcoin addresses belonging to a particular "address"... nothing.

Knock yourself out.

If you are looking for a new book, look no further:  I agree with the posters above that this is the best! I have been using them since the beginning of college football season and have no complaints.  Rumor is live betting is on its way as well... Also, they have been around for a long time with a non BTC site and dont think they are going anywhere.

NITROGENSPORTS.EU *** BEST ODDS *** AUTO WITHDRAWALS *** FASTEST PAYOUTS *** 20 TM PARLAYS ***
They don't have the best odds SO STOP saying that. Seriously jesus.

Secretary of State (David Herman): "I'm the secretary of state. Brought to you by Carl's Jr."
Joe: "Why do you keep saying that?"
Secretary of State: "'Cause they pay me every time I do. It's a really good way of making money. You're so smart, why don't you know that?"

Bitbook.biz has been a great and reputable high level sports book/brokerage. This is BY FAR the best experience ive ever had on the internet with sports.

Why did you guys decide to shut down? i would gladly get involved in anything you guys have in the future, you guys thinking of relaunching?

Seconded. Hands-down, the best bitcoin sportsbook ever.

I would also like to know ... whyyyyyyy?
16  Economy / Computer hardware / Chromebook for sale on: March 08, 2014, 05:23:13 PM
Doesn't seem like cryptothrift is really the place to move items.

https://cryptothrift.com/auctions/computer-hardware/hp-11-chrome-book-chromebook/

If I get offers, I will delist the item.

Sorry, but I will ship ONLY TO THE UNITED STATES.... I could be talked into shipping to Canada.

****************

This is a BLACK Hp Chromebook 11 as specified here:

http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/chrome/devices/hp-chromebook-11/

It is a Google Chromebook. I bought it on October 9, 2013. About February 3, 2014, I got an email from Google about needing a new charger — the NEW charger ships with THIS chromebook! (It’s yours. I guess the old charger was a fire-hazard.)

It has 16 GB storage and is a Solid State drive, which means that it boots up fast!

If you are technically minded, you can also install a version of ubuntu on it. See this link:

Ok, it appears as though he's paying. "Trickling" might be a more appropriate word. But can we blame him if no one is gambling on his site?

I would like opinions from other users about whether we want to "cut this guy a break" and begin placing wagers again. This is an advance of trust, to be sure! I'm not naive. But obviously, no one will get paid, if there is nothing to pay FROM.

Bit365's communication is abysmal. His customer support is through the floor. But he is trustworthy, even though he needs a ton of nagging.

Evidence for Bit365's trustworthiness:

1) Uhh... he could have pulled the plug on the site very easily.
2) He said bitcoinsports.eu was never a scam and will never be a scam. (This needs constant re-evaulation.)
3) He seems to be actually reading the scam thread. BobGriffin3 complained (justifiably) in this thread and got a payment less than an hour later.

What do you guys think?

Has he been paying wagers? We could agree to start placing smaller wagers again. What do you think? (If you don't want to reply publicly, you can PM me.)
18  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Instant Withdrawals - Widely Trusted on: February 28, 2014, 06:22:28 AM
Neither one works.

TrveKvlt... you have to keep trying. There is some intermittent thing in the DNS resolution. I do not think the site is up and down -- I think it's just up -- but I have noticed that if you type in bitbook.biz, it only comes up nine times out of ten.

You simply have to keep on trying. Once you get it, hold it for a while.

Things to try

1) incognito mode
2) http://bitbook.biz
3) www.bitbook.biz (both work)
4) firefox
5) (sigh) internet explorer

There is some kind of jogging of browser cache going on here. Please keep trying and let us know.
19  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Agora Commodities - A Full Service Bitcoin to Precious Metal Dealer. on: February 27, 2014, 03:30:28 PM
I would like to take this opportunity to express my continued satisfaction with Agora Commodities. These guys (girls) are great. I do not use Amagi metals anymore, but I will not talk bad about them other than to say that after my last order with them -- I would not even purchase a copper round from them! Even with a doubloon as a promotional gimme....

Agora Commodities ships very fast. Respects my privacy. Respects my email address (does not abuse it with unsolicited emails). Technologically sound, usable. Decent prices etc.

I do not want to live in a society where people leave only negative feedback. I want to live in a society where we say good things about businesses we use when we are supremely satisfied so far with those businesses. I would refer anyone to Agora Commodities. Anyone.
20  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Instant Withdrawals - Widely Trusted on: February 27, 2014, 03:20:16 PM

That's great, but there still is no practical reason to keep a large roll anywhere other then your personal wallet.  You can deposit around the clock and withdraw around the clock also.  With fiat sites I understand, because it's a hassle to cash out, deposit the check, reload your account when you get short.  But with bitcoin everything is instant or pretty close so you can protect yourself way better.

Anyway, I was mainly talking to the guy whose saying his entire roll was on one site.

Well... you know...  in retrospect, yeah.

I will say that I'm quite lucky with the amount that I lost... Assuming that ran off with my btc, it was a nominal amount, despite that it was all that I had.

I've basically already moved on with Cloudbet... which is not as user-friendly as bitbook was, but I'm going to cash out daily just to be safe this time.
