1  Economy / Service Discussion / Best pool right now on hasflare? F2pool, what is that? on: March 22, 2018, 10:58:09 AM
Today my mining on Hasflare has gone down to 6691 satoshi/Ths, which is absolutely horrible, and it has been a downtrend for a while

I can choose BW, Slush, and Antpool. I have had about 40% Antpool and the rest 30 each. Now I want to change, what is best right now?

Another thing I am wondering about is, how is it that many people seem to be able to use F2Pool? I have never had that option. And I have never seen anyone use BW. Is it only me who have that optiont?

So how is this possible?

I assume, just buying another ledger? And then can use the same app with both ledger nanos?
And they will automatically have 2 different set of seed words and separate accounts?

The Bitcoin Chrome App (and every other app by ledger) is just an interface to 'speak' with your nano s.
So yes, you just have to buy another one and initialize it with a new seed (the ledger nano s automatically generates a new random seed upon initialization).
They will be completely seperated and there is no connection between those two nanos.
Not sure what you mean with 'account'. You can create several accounts in a ledger nano s. This is for coins not getting 'mixed up' between those two accounts.
But those two ledgers will be completely different wallets, if thats what you meant with account.

Yes, thank you, sorry, I wasn't being clear, yes, I mean different set of seed words. So if I lose one set of seed words with 50% of my coins, I will still have access to the other 50% as they are accessed with another set of seeds.

I have a seed card, but I don't want to store all my coins in one account with one seed. I want to spread out the risk.

You may should think about how you are spreading the risk.
I don't really see a reason to buy a second HW wallet. Im not even sure if thats more secure than only having one.
I understand why you wouln't want to keep all of your coins on one address. But 1 HW wallet is enough.

You must think about the threat you are exposed to. If you fear from getting malware on your pc.. then 1 ledger is as safe as 2 are.
If you fear of someone cracking your private key.. there is also no difference between owning 1 or 2 ledgers.
In case of a fire both get destroyed. (Yes, you could store them seperately.. but you also could do this with our seed-sheet)
The only case, i see, where 2 ledgers would be better is when you get robbed. In this case you can hide 1 and only give up the other (seed or device).

So, is it possible to use two Nano S Ledgers with two separate accounts?

Of course. There is no reason why this shouln't be possible.

It sounds like you've just loaded either the wrong app on your nano s or you've selected the wrong Blockchain when opening the wallet.

also, with the BTG did you set the BTG split option? or did you just select a chain?

I select BTG in the Nano Ledger, and the first time I split up the BTG coming from the Legacy chain. And it worked, and I could see my BTG. Then I did not check for a while, and I went back to check and now my BTG is gone, even though I chose Legacy chain.

In the Bitcoin App (Chrome) you are also able to create several accounts. So, for your use case you do not have to buy a 2nd Ledger.

Mentioned here: https://www.ledgerwallet.com/apps/bitcoin
MULTI-ACCOUNT
All your BIP 44 Bitcoin accounts are managed within a unique interface, where you can send and receive, on-demand, in real-time.

But I like the idea of using two Nanos as they will be less used, less likely for hardware failure, and two different pins, and set ups, and seeds.
And I will spread the risk if something goes wrong with one of them, losing the seed, etc...

I wouldn't get a second ledger, you're just wasting money at that point. You might be interested in the plausible deniability options the Nano S offers. You should have a paper backup of your seed on the card that came with it anyways, so you don't need another device just to store your seed again. Even if your device breaks, if you still have the seed backed up (which you should), you can recover your funds without buying another device by importing it into a supporting wallet (source).

What happened? You got your B Cash back?

Just had my BTG disappear from my Nano Ledger, I think there must be something wrong, and its still there, but not sure how to go about checking it.

I am thinking of buying another Nano S Ledger, for setting up a separate wallet account.

Is this possible, if so how do I do it?

Have you checked the transaction history to make sure it wasn't sent out or stolen? I had a near heart attack when I forgot I transferred some coin to another address once upon a time.

Yes, checked "last operation" (or is there any other way to see the transaction history?), I believe that is what it was called, and there were no transactions there.

Very strange...

I don't think it was stolen as the other coins, in the other wallets, are still there.
Did you have claim because for hard ware wallet, you need to claim it for to get BTG. Check ledger nano site or Twitter may be they have give an instruction how to claim BTG.

I checked the instructions before and followed the them in order to get the BTG. The weird thing is, I used to have it in my wallet, but last time I checked, it wasn't there anymore. And I don't think it was stolen as my other coins are still there.

Maybe it's an issue with the wallet or website you are using?

I am using the hardware wallet Nano S Ledger

I had bitcoin in my Nano S Ledger on the legacy blockchain before the BTG fork

After the fork, I went to legacy blockchain and found my BTG.

Logged in today, and it was gone.

What happened??

Am I missing something here? Also checked segwit blockchain, it wasn't there either.

13  Other / Off-topic / 2 step verification, lost phone, how to get in? Can anyone access my account? on: November 19, 2017, 10:21:38 PM
I have set up a 2 step verification to most of my exchanges and online crypto currency plattforms.

I use my phone and my app called google authenticator when logging in.

What happens if I lose my phone?

I guess there would be a small risk someone will be able to gain access to my accounts.

And also, how do I do to access my accounts if my phone is lost or stolen?
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / keep my BTC in the Ledger Nano S during Segwit fork, or not? on: November 07, 2017, 12:27:23 PM
keep my BTC in the Ledger Nano S during Segwit fork, or not?

Will I receive Segwitx2 coin then, or do I have to move them, if so, where?
15  Economy / Exchanges / Re: WTB bitcoin using USD on a credit card, I am a EU citizen, what exchange? on: October 21, 2017, 09:25:27 PM
CNP (card not present) transactions are a very high risk payment system so you can’t blame people for being paranoid.

Ok, that makes sense. But the way the other guy was attacking me calling me a thief is not very civilized.

Coinmama and Coinbase offer a card-based purchase platform but I am very sure it won’t be as simple as typing in the card number and expiry date. They will ask you to identify yourself and prove card ownership.

Thanks, I can deal with that, even though I would prefer to not have my passport/ID card floating around the internet more than necessary. Will check out coinmama. Already have an account at Coinbase and I have everything in Euro there, and at least to my knowledge, I can't switch to USD. Or can I?

You can also expect miserably low purchase limits after passing the verification procedure. That’s how paranoid the industry is. They know the tricks of carders and account phishers.

Yeah, I guess we cant really blame them for being careful.

how you are in eu but got card only in usd ?
how much u are looking to buy also

I am looking to buy and sometimes sell, no fixed amount.
You didn't answer the first question Smiley

I do not see a reason why that would matter.
It's important because a lot of people are using stolen cards, so where do you get a US CC when your from europe? The only answer here is that you bought a stolen credit card.

You sir, are totally clueless, I work and EARN money in USD. And because you are calling me a thief, I will call you an idiot.

Want to buy bitcoin and other cryptos using USD on a credit card, I am a EU citizen, what exchange would you recommend?

I want to do as little verification steps as possible.

The problem I have had so far is that I have signed up from a EU country, and therefore The exchange I have now is in Euro, not in USD.

I need an exchange that accepts me paying in USD even though I am in a EU country.

Yes human errors happen, but they tend to decrease as the "value of the act" increases. Take a look to air control in airports. The % of human error there is incredibly small. If it wasn't many people would die.

Many people do die in plane crashes due to human error, it happens quite a lot...

Same thing goes for surgeries in life or death situations. It can happen, but the % for a forced error is very small.

But still, it happens...

Same thing will be with bitcoins, the value is so high, that people will treat it with extremely caution, and the % of lost bitcoins for unforced errors will be minimal, so what you are saying can't really happen in a lifetime.

I didn't say necessary in a lifetime, but the math is actually quite simple, there is a fixed amount, and from that fixed amount, bitcoins WILL be lost. Eventually, they must seize to exist.
